Agree 100% but that said my CLS55 was pretty exclusive but much like the IS-F, it didn't really stand out, looking (to Joe Public at least) very much like it's "lesser" variants.

The RC just screams out at one, even parked up in the corner of a car park there's almost like a big balloon floating above it saying "Look at me"!!

Even without the rich burble of the V8 to attract attention mine seems to catch the eye of passing patrol cars (it's not my driving, honest!!), a couple have done a U turn to catch up and shadow me for a couple of miles before giving the thumbs-up and turning off. We're just back from a midweek break on Burgh Island and we lost count the number of cars on the A38/A303 that pulled along side then dropped back to check out the car.

Exclusivity is great but one still needs the car to be noticed. 18 months into ownership and I still grin like a Cheshire cat every time I drive it :yahoo:

Absolutely. My wife doesn’t understand why I value that attribute in a car. It gives me a sense of pride and just feels good. Loved that with the Evora. Frequently returned to car parks to have to wait while people took photos in front of it. I look forward to this with the rcf.

Last weekend, two incidents that I noticed -

    1. Dacia ‘ Danduster’ came flying up behind me, flashing his lights. I initially thought he was angry. Then I spotted him giving me the thumbs up. The passenger was leaning out of the car filming on their phone.

    2. A guy in Aberystwyth came running across the street to talk to me about the car.

    3. Actually No 3. Armed response unit loved the car too. Female PC preferred it to @Mark G‘s gorgeous GSF. Sorry Blue. I did buy him lunch to make Blue happier 😜

RCFs turn heads like no other cars I’ve owned. It could be the “Oh my god, that’s ugly” but I doubt it.

This is a big draw and I classify it as the ‘ownership experience’. Much like when I had my evora. It got so much positive attention it indirectly made me feel good to own it. Also, turning up to car meets and being the only one or one of 2 or 3 max is also a nice feeling. People massively underestimate exclusivity.

  3. I agree on a performance car, the system should sound better. Other brands can do it. Does the rcf have valves in the stock system?

Its is annoying knowing you have to fork out ££££ for the sound you expect from a v8 when you have only just bought a car. Having said that I do love a mod!

One of the draws of the Merc is knowing you don’t need wheels, exhaust etc to make it how you want.

Sorry, it was me who got the grey one.

I went to look at the orange Mustang but the RC-F just kept looking at me.

I loved them when they were released, but didn't love the price.

I was going to wait for the new Supra to arrive but got bored with the lack of info from Toyota.

I'm still trying to work out all the systems, I'll be back with some questions I'm sure.

    Tim

Agreed, love the one I looked at during a meet 3 years ago now but the price was hefty, especially for the carbon one. The car is now where I expected it to be price wise and I imagine like the isf it will fall very slowly in depreciation from here on. At the current prices it is a mighty car in spec and performance and reliability for its age.

Actually, looking at this, It's not even a facelift. They've simply offered a base model with cheap wheels and horrid paint.

So, in terms of Ford, the RCF range now includes the new L model (in addition to the existing LX And GHIAX)

    😀

This is pretty much what I was thinking. Reduced ponies and torque on a car that needs both to compensate for weight. The update seems to be more eu regulation and enforced than by choice. If anything this makes the older models more desirable imo.

My Oris GMT World timer decided to split its bracelet last week. I bought an Oris meistertaucher titanium from a Jewellery shop in Knutsford last month, it was brand new but had sat there since 2012. Cheekily I offered a grand for it and they took it! I don't think you beat Oris. If I was wealthy it would be a Panerai Chronograph though. Another world sadly.

Nice, oris do some lovely watches and I almost bought one in favour of my longines when I was looking.

I do like panerai, instantly recognisable.

My figures from Lexus source match those from ‘How many left’

That is 169 RCF with 2 Sorn

And 25 Carbon with 1 Sorn, the 4th quarter 2017 and 1st quarter 2018 figures have not been released as yet.

As regards the desirability of the few available options mine has Acc/PCs and a Sunroof But no Tvd that was my choice, which I guess is the case for every perspective buyer.

As always with such a small pool of cars to choose from some compromise has to be made and it’s a wise move move as well to check the history of the car as a fair number had a very hard early life.

    Big Rat

Press cars that had the hard life? Of the 200 ish available how many were press cars?

I understand from another member in the trade that my recently sold ISF didn’t depreciate at all last year, so it would appear the residuals are currently bottoming out for low mileage examples.

If the ISF is anything to go by 30-35k is a good point to pick up a well looked after low mileage RCF.  Keep the mileage relatively low & it will work out as cheap motoring for a performance car with strong residuals later 🤞, especially as they are currently rarer than the ISF 👍🏻

Bang on and exactly my thoughts. This is my goal over the next few cars. Buy the right car at the right price and sell for as little loss as possible. Sounds easy but it neeeds a lot of research. Managed with my isf and my Evora and rcf is the next one then hopefully a Aston v8vs and then who knows!

  9. 30-35k is a sweet spot for a lot of car owners in terms of how much they are willing to spend. Also with the rcf now coming close onthe isf in price depreciatuon should slow dramatically. I would never look to own a new one of these but your budget is the same as mine when the time comes. Also, you are looking at the worst time really as the market for sports cars always picks up this time of year. The white carbon one looked a bargain given the current market imo.

I read the article and of course it is a late 'face lift' (interior at least) model with all the mods, so of course it is more expensive that earlier models.  Previous articles on PH have generally been quite ISF positive.

Agreed about the general dip in the quality and type of posts (and posters) now on PH, it's more like a UKIP Mumsnet than a motoring forum.  One gauge of this is the number of 'relationship gone bad' posts now appearing in The Lounge, I don't recall that kind of crap a few years ago.  Are there any better forums people are migrating too?

I spend my time on forums like these and areas I have other interests in. Ph less and less. More and more trolls.

  11. Basically all it does is protect against light scratching but anything remotely hard will penetrate it. Ppf is the only route to protect paint and even that can be penetrated if the stone is moving fast enough. I will have a full front end ppf, roof and spoiler when I buy one. Having had it on the Evora it is good stuff.
