  1. There are never a massive amount of upgrades for Lexus models, unlike the masses of them in the German machines.

If the Executive had been available when I ordered my SE I would likely have gone for it as it's better value. My only saving grace was the Premium Nav was a free offer from Toyota Fleet because no way would I have paid £2k for it. I'd have stuck to my TomTom on the Iphone.

  2. Hi Keefey, as a fellow company car driver I absolutely love this car. 12% tax (I've only a pov spec SE) and being a 2.5 Petrol I get 24p for every business mile I drive. Had the car for a month and although I'm mostly motorway I just cannot get MPG less than 55. I'm not a racer though, I happily sit at 70-75 with the cruise on and at this level you cannot fail to get 55 mpg.

I have the premium nav though, I can't absolutely comment on the Executive because I think that comes with the stripped down version of the Nav. As long as it comes with the same traffic system though I can comment.

I ran my TomTom on my phone side by side for a few days and the info was the same. The Lexus Premium Nav was a little keen to re-route at the first sign of traffic, so I switched this off. I only re-route manually and it's been great so far. It takes a couple of mins more for the info to show up on the Lexus but it was just as accurate as the TomTom.

Unfortunately there is no way to mirror TomTom on the screen because Lexus only use the Mirrorlink system, but this will only mirror inbuilt Google Maps Navigation on certain android phones, or the host navigation software from some Nokia phones. Also I think the mirrorlink option is only there if you have no inbuild Navigation. I know I don't have it at all with my premium nav.

  3. Phone is the worse part of the infotaining system imho.

Also an Iphone 5 user but running up to date IOS. Will work fine for ages then all of sudden phone goes off. Phone symbol with red line through it. Only way to get it back is to stop and restart the car.

Given up with the favourites and just use my direct contacts. Full access to call history is good though, I find most of these would be favourites anyway so you can get to them quickly that way.

Wifi for internet traffic is still a strange beast though, sometimes takes a while to crank up when you start the car (more Iphone issue I think re hotspot) but once the info starts coming through the data is good, but I've had to stop the car auto routing because it's very keen to re-route you at the first sign of traffic. It's more efficient to judge it myself before asking it to detour.

I would say B- if I was giving it a school mark.

  4. I am 90% motorway and in ECO mode at 75 with the cruise control on I cannot fail to get less than 55 mpg showing on the computer.

Had the car 3 weeks now, already at 2500 miles and every tank full has been the same.

However I don't sit in the outside lane with the German c0cks though, I'm happy enough in luxury seeing that dial showing 55 mpg :driving:

  5. That would certainly explain why the "E" firmware didn't do anything for Bridgy then.

A few more bugs appearing in my "D" version now too. Phone drops for no reason after connecting OK and even after making calls and you get the phone symbol with the red cross through. It just will not connect again until you "reboot" the car for want of a better word. The phone is still connected via wifi though and downloads traffic ok, just the Bluetooth is off.

The wifi connection isn't brilliant though, drops and reconnects all the time, and so many times prompts "download cannot be done" but I guess this all depends on the phone signal at that exact moment.

Getting used to the Satnav but it and the Audio Systems seem ok, but the phone implementation is horribly buggy.

Let hope there is an IS "E" soon.

  6. Just noticed when sorting out my receipts this week. I filled up with 10 miles showing on the range this week, with the warning light coming on around 50 miles to go.

It only took 57 litres to fill it back up. So by my basic maths skills there was still 13% of the tank full when I did this with 10 miles on the range !!

Why do they do this? Is it so you don't run to the dregs of the tank? I thought that was an old wives tale from the old days :eerrrmm:

  7. My contacts come direct from my work e-mail system so are well structured on the phone, so just no need to mess with favourites, it's as many mouse clicks to get the favs up as it is contacts in the car. Would rather have auto contacts syncing than a list of favourties.

I can only think it is not a bug they are aware of which is strange because you are right it should be a relatively simple bug to fix. That or they don't see it as important?

  8. I think my shiny new car must have known we were talking about this. My Favourites have gone this evening! They did last over a week though.

I'm not going to bother putting them back, you get full access to your contacts while driving, that will do me.

However by revision E of firmware even Bill Gates would have fixed this one by now if it was Microsoft :lookaround:

  9. Right a couple of days side by side use and to be honest the Inrix data is perfectly fine.

Both the TomTom and the Nav Unit displayed pretty much the same traffic data. TomTom was quicker to display it but the Lexus did eventually report the same. Meant you couldn't avoid it as I was already in it, but it was a fresh holdup and you wouldn't have been able to avoid it with the TomTom either.

The routing engines are vastly different mind you but to its credit I followed the Lexus route tonight with holdups on the M62 and it got me back about 5 mins before the route TomTom wanted me to take.

Happy days, Mr Anal Traffic is a little happier and will start to trust the new Lexus :winky:

  10. I have version D from the factory and other than a couple of ipod lock-ups (remove and plug usb to clear) its behaving as it should. Favourites are still there after 10 days (is this good) and phone has in general been ok for calls.

I also have an Iphone 5 but I did not have the show notifications on, thanks Habu. Will see if it reports text messages tomorrow.

  11. First tank was around 650 miles, dash was showing 53.4 mpg, 95% motorway mind you.

Just done my fuel for the month for work and the actual mpg was 51.2 (calculated from litres used by mileage) so the computer isn't a million miles away.

Although wife had it for 2 days now and dash showing 44 mpg, I think some education might be in order :shutit: :winky:

  12. Just reading up about the sources and it is impressive. They do use major fleets, taxis, as well as anonymous mobile data from phones and devices. They offer free apps for mobile devices too.

Looks like I will indeed trust it. I will still watch it in action against TomTom for a week but I'm quite impressed.

DJP, I still have my favourites, OK only been a week, but how often do you lose yours?
