  1. If your wifi traffic is playing up you can force it back to the old FM-RDS. I think it is supposed to do this anyway if the wifi is off but mine never seems to it appears to be one or the other. It's in the Information Section of MENU, under traffic I think, you can change the source from Auto to RDS.

My thinking is if it struggles to get the first download its pretty poor for the whole journey, but I could be imagining that.

It does sound like your satnav was swapped which was a little naughty. It was the first thing I did and was pleasantly surprised when I found 53242.

It does make me laugh when they say they would pay for a new update. You mean they got a new £4 microSD card and copied their own data onto it.

How they can still charge close to £200 for these things is just crazy. Has anybody tried copying them to their own blank card? I'm too chicken :innocent:

  2. How on earth do you get 55.7mpg. Driving on eggshells still struggle to get 52.00 !!!!

I can't fail to get 55 mpg. Cruise control on a motorway at 73-75 mph and it is like a metronome wherever I seem to go? It's the around town trips that drag mine down, but only by 2 or 3.

PS DTH I'm also in Bolton, maybe our paths will cross, although not seen another 300h in town yet :driving:

  3. Good post Steve. I'm still ver D which mine came with from the factory. Also you are unlucky with your microSD, I got my car end of June and have the latest version. I too was gearing up for a fight, but I was shocked to have the latest.

My voice system has always been good though for the phone, I don't have to shout and as my contacts come straight from my business exchange email system I have them all stored as full names. I can't remember it not getting the name right yet.

Music is a different kettle of fish. One day it is there and the next it is not, but I've given up worrying about it.

Everything else seems to be OK so I'm happy enough to live with it.

One extra point about the traffic though, it's actually an excellent system. Coming from the excellent TomTom live I always used to think I knew better and when to ignore the re-routes. However the last couple of traffic laden trips with the Lexus I have just followed all traffic detours and they have been excellent and bang on the estimated arrival time. OK one swallow does not make a summer but traffic is my biggest anal bugbear with 35k miles a year but it is certainly growing on me.

  4. I've left mine on ver D that it came from the factory with. Buggy as hell but you learn to live with it. It's certainly the weakest point of the car. I've an Iphone 5 along with an old 80GB classic ipod and basically have the following

    1. Phone can be perfect for days but then for no reason drops off and only switching car on and off returns it.

    2. Wifi tethering is quite stable but I have to toggle the Iphone tethering on and off on the Iphone every time i start the car. This is more the Iphone than the car though, but I have a procedure that works

    3. 1/2 downloads just do not happen though as Steve says, the download can not be done message bugs the life out of me, but I live with it, I've switched off the shorter updates because of this. It still catches it once in a while which allows the traffic to just about be OK on my commutes.

    4. Music on the ipod is mostly fine, manual selection seems to be OK, but the voice system I just cannot work out. It can be there for a few days and then it vanishes (for music selection) and I've yet to work out a pattern as to why. The only other bug seems to be the shuffle option, even when you turn it off the next time I start the car and listen to the ipod it is back on again?

I really hope they do look at the carplay system in the future, but I've no real loyalty to Lexus, I always go for the most car I can get for the least money as a pauper company car driver and while this is by far the best driving car I've had in a while, the toys let it down and I'm sure the others will have caught up in 3 years when I swap again.

  5. Shame, I've just an SE and its perfect to me. I'm sure the other models are better but I can't see them being massively different. I tend to drive in ECO anyway and have learned how to drive with the lag.

Not to rub it in but also as a company car driver the complete cost of my car including tax and petrol for July was £49 :innocent::whistling: :outforcount:

    Best of luck though.

  6. Hi All,

Been around for a bit now on the IS 300h forum but I've just invested in the iPhone/iPad App for the forum but I cannot seem to log into it?

Now, I joined the forum via the facebook link but I've set my password via my forum settings which it says to do for mobile device access.

I cannot login to the App with these details. It also won't let me change my password from the app, I just get a Tapatalk error.

Also if I try and register from the app using my username it does tell me it is in use so it can see me.

Any ideas, not the end of the world but would rather not have spent a massive £1.49 for nothing :-)

    Cheers

    Scott

  7. Although the premium is nice, I only got it because it was free when I placed my order, I would never have paid £2k for it, it's like going back to 2003 from my Iphone TomTom with live traffic. The connected services are OK but 1/2 the time they never download and you have to fight to get it connected to the phone (Iphone hotspot issue more than the car).

I think the Executive is good value, I would definitely have gone for that over my SE if I was placing my order now.

  8. Halved the amount of songs on the ipod to 4000 and the voice control is still greyed out for the Play Music command. Disconnected it and put in a CD I bought, which works great BTW, with Gracenote filling in track listing and cover art............ but still no voice control. :(

I don't get this at all, it can only be the size of the ipod? My 80GB has 11,000 songs on it and works perfectly.

  9. I've just accepted the satnav is what it is. I've been a beta tester for TomTom for a couple of years so have always had their latest and greatest (Iphone version, not PND though) and it is like going back to 2003 with the Premium Nav. However I'm more anal about the traffic and their data is good. I did side by side comparisons and I'm happy.

I'm an Iphone 5 on Vodafone and have the downloads set to most frequent and also get more downloads cannot be done more than fresh data, so its not just you, but the data is still good.

TBH I tend to sit with the infotainment screen on the home page so I see what is playing on the ipod because I tend to use dynamic playlists on shuffle the most.

I get the odd freeze from the ipod, and tend to just pull the cable and put it back in and all is good again. I have tried DJPs reset but that will drop my wifi and it won't come back till I toggle the Hotspot on the Iphone (apple quirk not Lexus) which is a little dangerous when driving.

For a Premium car though the infotainment is by far it's weakest feature.

  10. Agree about the radio display being rather poor. I tend to connect to Dab via the steering wheel and then just cycle through my presets.

However I absolutely love the Speech Recognition for the iPod, OK it can be a little long winded but just say the Album, Artis, Song, Playlist etc etc and then say Play and off it goes. Don't even take my eyes off the road for a 2nd. Handles my Northern (NW) Twang quite comfortably.

  11. I see at least 3 or 4 every day on the M1 A50 M6. I don't note the regs but pretty sure they are different cars. By far most popular colour I've seen is white. Mix of Fsports and Lux, couple of SE only seen one Premier.

Very likely I was one of those, will be on the A50 from Derby back up to the M6 later today. Although as it's so nice I may go scenic route over to Buxton for a nice drive home :hehe:

  12. Keefey, not trying to be funny, but how can you choose a car from peoples responses on a forum? Go down to the dealership and get a test drive and see for yourself. I got a demo from Toyota Fleet for 5 days.

Yes the IS has Hill Start Assist, take your foot off the accelerator and it does not roll back. I've a basic SE and it does this.

110 miles to Hull this morning and 58.9 mpg, I seriously love this car, it is paying me money every month at that level of MPG.

  13. It's perfectly fine for an inbuilt system. I too love my TomTom but couldn't pass up the free premium offered, but would never pay £2K for it.

I think the days of the inbuilts are numbered anyway. I think apple Carplay will be the game-changer and I'd expect most car makers to incorporate it in the next few years.

This should also spur on the mirrorlink system to have a little more functionality than it does now.
