Hi Bridgy, if you have an Iphone to get mine on I had to toggle the hotspot on and off and then leave the phone on that screen until the car connected. If I left Hotspot running all the time in my pocket it would never connect.
However as I said above I'm leaving it off now and swapping to a separate mifi device, was too much of a black art for me.
-
As a test at lunchtime I forced it to access the hotspot through Bluetooth only and although I had to sit for ages it eventually popped up traffic from internet activated and I got traffic data. However again I then tried to make a call and all sorts of problems again.
Turned hotspot off again and phone was instantly OK.
Enough is enough, don't know if it is the Iphone, the Vodafone SIM or the car, so just for my sanity I've ordered a 2nd hand 3G mifi from fleabay. I have a 30 day sim for data from 3 which I've never used so will give that a blast and keep the phone for calling and the mifi for traffic. It's a shame its going to cost me extra but its a drop in the ocean for traffic loveliness

Fun morning in the wind and rain. Toys were out the pram big style, big red cross through the phone after 1st call. After 5 miles of swearing and mutterings I stopped for a coffee and a bacon roll and decided I wasn't moving till I sussed it.
So I removed the pairing and phone and started again. 5 straight calls to voicemail all perfect, stopped and started car 5 times and connected every time. Was that all it was? So I set off again, switched my Mobile Hotspot back on (it was off during this break) and then dialed voicemail. 1st time ok, 2nd time no connection and red line through phone !! cue a few more expletives.
Then I suddenly twigged, MOBILE HOTSPOT. Quickly disabled it (sorry Officer) and low and behold the red line went instantly and the phone connected. Proceeded to make multiple calls and my boss also rang me and all perfect, no drops, red lines or anything.
So hopefully looks like Bluetooth and wifi to the phone at the same time was causing it.
No traffic though of course which was annoying as the A1 was shut, but I switched it over to RDS and nothing came through on that either.
Will see if I can get connected services to work over Bluetooth but not managed it so far. May end up investing in a mifi dongle and just leave it in the car.
So hopefully sanity on the way to some sort of parity :hohoho:

IOS 8.1 is on the phone. Driving from Bolton to Peterborough in the hurricane in the morning so we shall see if BB is going to be a happy BB or the toys are back out the pram
-
Wow, that's terrible. Who was the supplying dealer, that's most untypical from Lexus, they are one of the better marques in my dealings with dealers. I would be seriously peed off too.
-
IOS 8.1 is out on Monday. Can't wait, car kit pretty much unusable at the moment.
-
I've probably gone 30 miles past now too, and still plenty in there. I'm into the habit of filling up on zero but I guess there is still a good 75 miles in the tank from there if you really want to chance it.
-
And bizarrely it worked without issue today. Only a short trip but a couple of calls made and received fine.
Turning into a black art it would seem.
-
I did wonder if ios was compounding the issue. OK will bear with it until after 8.1 is out for now.
My car is literally my office some weeks so I just have to have a phone system that just works.

What an absolute pile of craap this Nav / Phone system is. This new "F" firmware is a million times worse for just simple operation of the phone. Iphone 5 in my case, updated to ios 8.02 if that has any bearing?
Red line through the phone constantly, make a call, OK, try and make another call there is a new message "please check your phone" and then nothing and the red line through the phone. Was literally tearing my hair out with it driving back tonight, multiple calls needed to be made and managed about 1 of them successfully.
On the plus side, my favourites remained after a contact change and download.
If this wasn't a "tax neutral" car as a company car driver this would seriously be putting me into "Rejection" mode, because it is seriously not fit for purpose. I may have to go out and get a Bluetooth speaker or headset just for my sanity.
I am so glad the Nav was free, cannot believe Lexus can seriously charge 2K for something this poor.
-
Mine came with that firmware as a direct build from the factory and that was June 2014 build. However luckily my NAV came with the latest maps which is 53242. I think 53242 came out around Mar/Apr time but I could be guessing?
-
On the plus side the phone is staying connected and my favs are still there, I changed a contact today too so will see if they are still there after next sync
-
:tsktsk: GRRRRRRR *FACEPALM*
Working in IT I should really have known better but Firmware updating wipes your memory points in the NAV. Crazy but true.
50 odd of them, most manually updated from the head unit. I have some in the portal but I manually changed most because of names and icons etc.
NOTE TO SELF: Backup your car before you let Lexus work their magic.
Brilliant Car but sh1te Tech :shutit: :yack: :iraqi-info-minister:

Updated to F today during my service. Have only had a little play, but stopped and started the car multiple times and the phone connected every time. Before on D, it was always fine first start, but if you stopped and started again after a short trip the phone was never available, always had the red line through it. Sometimes it would come back on if a longer journey but most of the time it was just off.
I've also added my favourites back in as a test, not that bothered if it doesn't fix them but worth a try.
Will see how it goes.

Liberated too
There is a good link so you can check when your tax does run out without the physical disk as a reminder

I'm lucky at the fact mine is a company car, but my last Volvo because of the new EU rules, I simply phoned the Lease company and arranged a service. The first 30,000 miles they kept taking it to Nationwide Autocentres (Halfords as is now I think) and while they seemed OK the car started to have little niggles. In the end it took the main dealer to sort and the first thing they did was list all the things Nationwide had not done in the first 30,000 miles.
While not my problem as it wasn't my car it does highlight the chance you take not going to the main dealer, however much of a rip-off it would appear to be. I now insist on maindealer service when I book any work on my car. Bolton Lexus are having their first go next week.
-
At 10,000 mine started showing the oil and filter warning on the main screen. Just rung Lex Autolease who confirm it's 10k intervals.
Booked in for Tuesday when should also get the latest Infotainment Firmware. Phone is the frankly sh1te, can disappear for an hour at a time and even a reboot of the radio/nav it won't come back. At least a reboot normally gets my ipod going when it goes missing.
Car = 10/10 Love IT
Infotainment = 4/10 and I'm being generous at that.

Gave up with this about a week after the car arrived. Contacts and voice activation works well instead for me.
-
I'm now 2 weeks into my normal test and around 1200 miles driven. 54.7mpg and I've been pushing the boat out to 80 mph recently too I know I'm just so reckless
Definitely noticeably better acceleration than the previous 8000 miles in Eco so I think it will stay in Normal.
I only use Sports mode at lights to p1ss the boy racers off just because I can
-
Well 80 miles later this morning and it's 56.4, Normal does feel more responsive than ECO but the motorway cruising is exactly the same. Will leave it for a while and get some better figures.
-
OK, this is a new game, can I play. I've around 1000 miles to do this week I reckon so will do it in Normal and reset my clock at the start. I'm a leave it on ECO kind of guy too and get a metronome 55 mpg however I seem to drive it with all the motorway cruising I do.
-
I know, I sussed that right at the start. I like the compare option for the traffic events. It's just when you want the manual update it's includes these off and ons to save time.
-
Been noticing it more recently and it's starting to bug me now.
When in heavy traffic and you ask it to detour all traffic the system has a horrible annoyance to take you off the slip road to then bring you straight back on again back into the traffic. OK it sees it as less traffic but it's pretty fruitless action and just not cricket
I've started zooming out to 400 yards when it is taking me off just in case, but I see it as more of a flaw than anything.
-
Thanks for that Coverhill it will please a lot of people that. It's only taken them 6 attempts to fix it
I can wait until my 1st service, I won't take it in especially.

Iphone only tends to show it's wifi when you are on the hotspot page. If you look when you turn it on there it says Hotspot is says now discover-able.
This was the only way I could get into a system where it loaded every time. So I basically toggled it on and off every time I started the car with the Iphone then left on the Personal Hotspot screen.
