Blisteringblue said......."I've only got the premium nav because it was a no cost option at the time of ordering"Sorry to appear dim, but is there a higher level than this then, if so what is it please? Left me wondering what I've got in mine!
Its the sat nav with the mouse? I'm just saying I would never have bought it as an option, it was a freebie when I ordered car.
360 miles today with TomTom and boy have I missed it the past 18 months. Traffic is instant had the queues down to a matter of feet.
Only down side is 12v not giving my phone enough juice, power going down 10% an hour with Tom Tom on. It is sharing with the dash cam mind you.
-
Anybody else think the traffic seems to have fallen off a cliff recently?
My system shows it for a few miles, then says its all good again, to then come back a few miles later. Even when it shows it the quality is really bad.
Been happening for a month or so at least. I've been running google maps on my phone just because it is better but I just don't like the layout so I've actually just bought the new TomTom Go app for my Android phone I'm that hacked off.
Glad I used TomTom today because of the M62 closure because the Lexus System just cannot handle closed roads, it never tells you they are closed.
I've only got the premium nav because it was a no cost option at the time of ordering, but there is probably no reason to fire it up again. TomTom traffic is simply the dogs nuts, oh how I have missed it.
Sorry Lexus, as the theme for most of my threads, great car, shocking infotainment.

Hurry up with the bloody new version "D" please is all I can say. It's a daily fight to use my ipod, and the car is winning. So much so I've stopped using the mouse for the ipod control, I now only use voice recognition. At least they have got this bit right and voice recognition works 1st time every time.

Rock solid 55 mpg average here with mine, can get it into the 60s if I try hard, but normal mostly motorway driving at 75 mph its 55 mpg.
-
I have to agree with Colin, I too have the latest and it's made the iPod use frustratingly bad. It will play and then I come to try and change it via the mouse and it's all just blank. I have to reboot the whole system. Although the voice activation is better, it seems this is at the detriment of manual selection.
I await this BIG UPGRADE that is supposed to be coming, but they have had 2 years to get this infotainment sorted so I'm not holding out much hope.

Totally agree, recently drove a mad 645 miles in a day and got out the car feeling like it was a trip to the local Tesco. Effortless driving. Won't even be looking next time but will push the boat out to an F-Sport for some middle age crisis-ness

Overall, it is good for me and I make use of the features.
Same here, was hampered a bit with poor quality data connection from giffgaff but now using 3 mobile and its excellent. Hardly any failed downloads.
OP, you will need similar to what I have to use the connected services.
I use a 3 Mobile MIFI dongle. This is basically a little device that houses a Data Sim card and turns it into a mobile Internet Wifi Connection the car uses for connected services. Think of it as a wifi network for the car. Plus passengers with Ipads etc can also use it on the move.
Mine just sits in the glove box permanently plugged into a 12v USB adapter and I swicth it on when needed.
I think I paid £15 for a 2nd hand Mifi (Mobile Wifi shortened to MIFI if wondering what it stands for) and I bought a 12 month (or 12GB) PAYG data simcard for £69.
I use it daily for traffic and make good use of the portal for sending trips to the car. Like Steve said the Google search is quite handy as I'm always looking for things on the move. Streetview is more a gimmick but I do look occasionally. OK Lexus are behind the times a little but it's the first car I've had with anything like this.
-
I'm simply hoping Lexus implement apple Carplay and do away with anything clever at all. Hopefully in time for swapping in a couple of years. Or at least offer it as an option instead of their woeful versions.

Another week on and more cursing. Ipod is now buggy as hell. I'm forever rebooting the infotainment now to use the ipod.
Will wait the next update then .........
-
Steve I've an 80GB ipod Classic. v5 I think and its pretty full, 70GB muisc, maybe that is the reason.
I just listen to the radio for the first 10-15 mins, ipod has caught up by then. Great car but the infotainment is a definite let down.
-
No too impressed with the latest the more it goes on. Ipod just seems to take an age to crank into gear and while the voice does work you have to wait a least 15 mins before you can use becuase it always says "voice activation system is initialising". But while it is doing this and you try and use the ABC selection for music they are all greyed out for the same time, so you would have to scroll down the whole list manually.
But at least I can now delete my sat nav memory points

1000 miles on the new firmware and a few points.
- When the phone rings, takes about an extra 3-5 secs before it's available to answer from the steering wheel.
- Voice iPod still a bit hit and miss, but it's been on a lot more than it normally is.
- Not sure if I'm just imagining it but the traffic routing has been good, took me around the 4 closed juntions on the M62 on Monday really well.
-
No charge as far as I can see, but mine is a lease car anyway so they wouldn't tell me anyway.
-
Been fine here, my issue has been the quality of the data connection from my giffgaff sim in the car MIFI. It seems to have fallen off a cliff. So much so that having counted at least 20 "download cannot be done" messages driving back from High Wycombe on Thursday I've now dumped it and bought a 3 PAYG data sim. Roughly the same price for a 12 month bundle.
Never had to enter my username and password again though?
What firmware are you running? I was on F and have just updated to the very latest VC12102C yesterday at my service.
-
on another thread I replied to, over the same issue, I said the AA are experimenting with a "one size fits all" spacesaver which has different spigots to fit different fitments and the idea is that the patrol will replace the tyre with the spacesaver and either follow the member to the tyre garage to retrieve his spacesaver or if out of hours let the driver continue and a prepost paid service means the member just leaves the spacesaver at the tyre garage and they post it back.just rememember obviously the flat tyre does take up room in the boot moreso than the spacesaver. I know this is obvious to some but not always to others.
What a good idea, worth knowing if and when it isn't just an experiment.
-
Couldn't you have rung Lexus breakdown line?
I suppose I could have, Not sure what more they could have done? As a lease car it's covered anyway. Figured just a tyre so might as well try and inflate again. Would look a complete numpty if breakdown called for a flat! Male macho bravado and all that.
-
Just had service and have the new Firmware. Does seem snappier and I can delete memory points again. Plus this time it didn't wipe my Nav Points.
-
I know my boss said I should just get a spare and leave in the boot. Trouble is I've only got the SE with 16" wheels, will probably get another 300h next time too but a better model so would only fit this one. Law of averages says I've had my bad luck with this one
:luck:

Flat tyre on Wed and finished work after kwikfit shut. Dilema was 65 miles home or 110 miles to the hotel I was booked into as working down south yesterday.
Trouble was I drove a couple miles before realised it was flat. Decided not to use the Lexus Compressor and gunk but headed to the hotel slowly (60/65) and stopped at every services (£1 minimum vend for air :megaangry: ) and topped up. Was losing about 5 psi every 30 miles.
Anyway whether right, wrong or dangerous I made it, and next morning tyre was pretty flat but repeated exercise and got it to kwikfit.
3 new tyres later (flat was an puncture they couldn't repair but I probably knackered the tyre walls anyway).
Having never had a car without a spare or at least a space saver it was a bit of a pain.
What is the score with the gunk compressor? Are they single use? How much to replace if you do use. It looked such a contraption I just didn't even contemplate using.
Ps. on plus side the dash tyre pressure warning was pretty spot on.
-
Did it wipe your satnav memory points though? That happened when mine was updated?
I've a service on Friday so will ask them to do this too, but will take a copy of my memory points to a USB stick first.
I still can't delete Memory Points so want this fixing.
My only real annoyance is voice activated ipod selection. Works for a day then doesn't and might be off for a couple of weeks. No real pattern to it. Has this new version addressed this?

That's possibly the most chauvinistic post I've ever seen... But to kind of answer your question, I've changed three IS300h windscreens, and two of those were owned by women.
LOL, glad it wasn't just me. My wife loves mine btw.

That's not that many miles to get the full benefit but this is THE car to break all the company car rules. I'm doing 35K a year and coming to the end of my 1st year. I've no need to take any hit on tax because I more than make up for that on the fuel rate paid for a 2.5L Petrol. Even recently losing 4p per mile on the HMRC rates hasn't changed this, just not making as much
-
I get 55mpg without trying in the summer, it dropped to around 49-50 over winter but happy with that. I'm the same, quick acceleration and then try and keep that EV light on as long as possible.
I also tend to use cruise on the motorway at 75. Car is as smooth as you like and its such a nice drive.
I've swapped my car to a different model every time I've swapped over the past 15 years, and as it stands I won't be looking elsewhere next time unless there is a proper game changer out there.
-
While a good read there are still some things he doesn't get though. I quote "Ultimately, it comes down to your driving habits: just as living in a city, buying diesel and doing a paltry mileage is silly, so mega mileages just don’t make sense in the IS300h"
Why isn't the IS300H a car for mega miles? I'm doing 35K a year up and down the motorway and this is the perfect car for this. 50+ mpg and low tax bik. I've already stated previously this car costs me zero as a company car driver.
Until the journos get this fact they simply won't get it.

I am using the 12v with a chinese special that allows a normal 12V and 2 extra USBs, I will check what it gives out? I need the normal 12v slot for the dashcam. It did charge the phone slowly before I was using the GPS, but won't with tomtom running.
