Thanks for the input guys.
I think I shall go for the Toyos.
I dont fancy being the first person to try a new tyre, ie Coullio's Hankook's. I've had Pirelli P6000's fitted to two cars before, on the 306 XSi, they were terrible, understeered all over the place, on the Mondeo Zetec they were fine! Just cos someone fitted the Hankook's to other cars and found them great, I wouldn't guarantee they would work as well on the Lexus. Just a thought!
Will still welcome any more comments on the Toyos durability!!

Hi all,
I've spent a long time on here tonight, going through almost two years of posts on tyre choices!!
I think I'm going to go for the Toyo's...
But first I'd like to ask all those who have fitted the Toyos, especially to IS200's (17" rims).
How long do they last? From the reviews I've read, it is their wear rate that is the biggest weakness. Can anyone confirm or argue this?
Many thanks.
p.s. If anyone can recommend a good tyre dealer in, or around the Herts, Beds & Bucks area, I would be very grateful! :winky:

Yep, well said shotwood!
The Germans insure the car not the driver. It appered to work well when I spent some time there over the last four years.
I dunno if any of you have noticed on German plates, they have two small coloured circles in the middle, one above the other. Well one of them is the MOT and the other is the insurance. They are colour coded for calendar validity. I'm not sure what the fine is, but I'm told that they are very harsh! Can't be that difficult!

Will try also, again Mrs B to be may object, but Bluewater will probably be enough! Or she can have her Bridesmaids round while I come down alone!! ;)

Well that was good fun!
I got a lift this morning to rescue my stranded IS from Luton Airport and decided not to bother going into work! I turned around and started off to home. All the main roads were gridlocked around Luton, so really took a chance and opted for the village route! None of the roads were gritted and were covered in compacted snow/ice! There was no traffic at all, which allowed me maintain about 20 mph and I got home fine! TRC and SNOW were both on, dunno how much they helped at that speed, was extremely gentle with accelerator anyway!
Hope it melts before tomorrow! :)

Are you being serious?
Sorry Ifraz, not joking!
I work at Luton Airport. The snow started falling today at about 16.10, by 16.15 I had a bus driver pushing me up a hill coz the Lex couldn't make it!!
It's 6 miles from work to home. I left work at 16.00, I got home at 21.10! I abandoned my car at approx 18.00 (half a mile from the car park) and nabbed a lift of mate in a Saxo, stopped another half a mile down the road at around 18.45 at the pub! 3 pints (for me) later, the roads are clear enough to chance again! Still wouldn't have been that happy in the Lex though. Will pick it up tomorow if it's not snowed in!
Besides, you only fit the chains for the journey! I wouldn't leave them on. You can get ones that have "Alloy Wheel Protectors". I'd leave them in the boot during the winter and laugh at people that can't go up hills when I need to!!

I looked into these during the summer. After last February's heavy snow, I decided to take a peek and see how much they cost. They were quite expensive and I pursued it no longer.
After reading about peoples problems driving up hills this morning, I thought, "Good idea for a Group Buy suggestion!"
Sorry for having done no research before posting this topic! Lazy I know! There may be some members that have already done research and even bought some??
What do ya think?

Had about 4cms here in Luton, all gone now though! Wish I'd had enough time to take pic of the car before clearing the snow!

I've just ordered the Toyo's after calling 7 of the dealers on their website.
Saxongate Motorist Centre of Biggleswade (01767 314125) can provide the T1-S 215/45x17 for £76.25 +VAT each!!!
Thats £179.19 all in for two!!!
I just hope they show the wheels some care! If they do, they've got my business next time already!!
I shall mention the club and ask if he is interested in offering us Goldies a discount!
