  1. It was nice to drive, felt more different that i expected. Engine was more urgent and somewhat more free revving, rock solid feel to the car but not too jarring over the bumps. Steering was a bit lighter than I expected though. Very different feeling inside the cabin, very nice.......
  2. The quoted the standard £895 that Lexus have agreed all their dealers should charge.
  3. Took my IS-F into Lexus Guildford for the 60k service having arranged to pick up a courtesy car. Bit of chat with the service guy, asked if he was giving me an RC-F, he stopped, thought a minute, went to see the manager, gave me the keys to their demonstrator for the day. Now that is what I call Courtesy!!!!
  4. I agree with the super unleaded improving MPG. I've been experimenting with different blends and the Shell Nitro seems to give me the best mileage. It's really noticeable when I have to fill up with low octane fuel and it usually takes a couple of tanks of super to get the mpg back up. I presume because the ECU is slower to react to the better fuel.
  5. My long term average is about 26.5, I've had tank averages upto around 32. But I do a lot of motorway miles which makes a big difference.
  6. Looking at my first car I'm obviously an oldie here: Hillman Imp Hillman avenger estate V4 Capri Capri 280 Corrado Reliant Scimitar Middlebridge Scimitar Volvo S60 D5 Freelander Land Cruiser and finally... IS-F
  7. best of luck, if tt happened immediately after their service then hopefully there will be at least some element of shared cost.
  8. After an interesting few days I thought I would add a comment re tyres. So far, I have used OEM bridgestones, Michelin Pilot Alpine winter tyres and the above mentioned sessantas, which came to me nearly new on a set of wheels I bought from another member of the forum. The refurbished wheels are great, the tyres less so. In the dry they are not too bad though they break away more easily than either the bridgestones or the michelins. In the wet they are crap. No other way to describe it, seriously lacking grip. So, do your research and decide what's important to you. I certainly won't be buying another set when these wear out, which frankly, they way they spin, won't be long. Jon
  9. I use Michelin Alpines in winter, as I drive around the country quite a lot. They have worked very well through two winters for me, including a number of trips p to the North East......
  10. Not in my experience Interesting, I've only ever had good service from them.....
  11. If you like to travel Lexus Guildford have been very good.........
  12. Not so much average speed cameras but the new, very hard to spot Hadecs 3 cameras. Damn things are really hard to spot, by the side of the road. They don't need gantries any more.... http://www.speedcamerasuk.com/hadecs-3.htm
  13. Nice clip and article on pistonheads of an RC-F going up the hillclimb at Goodwood http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-advertorial/lexus-rc-f-goodwood-comp-the-winners/32520
  14. Sounds like the diff is not happy, I would consider taking it back to the dealer.
  15. i didn't notice anything in the terms and conditions to prevent that when I took out my extended warranty. Maybe Lexus aren't too worried given he reliability of the car...
  16. Oh and white seats don't get so hot in summer when the car is unattended
  17. I've got the white interior. I'm not too fussy but after doing 35k in it I need to get the leather cleaned to restore it as the drivers seat is starting to look a bit grey.... I forsee a trip to a valeter at some point, when I get the chance.
  18. I have a Blackvue but no discharge preventer. No issues so far...
  19. Front and rear are different sizes, so you can't swap those. The standard lexus wheels on most IS-F are also directional, to increase air flow to the brakes, so if you swap over the fronts then the vanes will be pointing the wrong way..
  20. err, don't change the wheels around, they are specific to each corner.....
  21. I think it's still going to take a few years before they can replace Tetra.
  22. FYI I was quoted about a grand including fitting. Still seems a lot to me so I'm mulling it over.
  23. Yes, they work by detecting active tetra radios which are used across europe and surprisingly are legal on the continent as well as here. Only issue I can see is that the govt wants to close down he tetra network and shift the emergency services to a closed mobile network to save money, thats why the recently twisted the phone companies arms to increase network coverage.
  24. Thanks for the detailed response, it's very helpful.
