  1. Changing the air filter looks like it's going to be interesting and I hate to think what would happen if the front got a nudge. However, it looks like a very well thought out installation. Do you know if they needed to mod the bonnet?
  2. Sorry to hear you didn't manage to swap for the Supra, but good luck with the PPE route. Does their supercharger kit fit under bonnet, cos there doesn't seem a lot of space to put one? I've seen a vid of a conversion which seemed to put twin superchargers into the tail pipes near the back? Cheers Jon
  3. Understood. Maybe I'm getting old but kick down in sport is good enough for me most of the time. Maybe I need to drive it less to make it more of an occasion so I'm keener to push it a bit more. Trouble is, I like the grin factor....... Even when driving like an old git
  4. I thought the issues was that if you have a crash, the dodgy inflators go off more explosively than they should, with potential problems ensuing. Maybe I mis-remembered, otherwise, unless you have a crash big enough to set off the airbag, you should be OK? And the issue is aggravated by living in a hot climate, so that pretty much excludes the UK anyway..
  5. I have to admit, I spend so much time travelling around the country on motorways that auto is my normal mode. Manual gets occasional use only as auto + sport button is good enough usually. I'm not into trying to get that keen on public roads..
  6. It will probably cover all the bags made by Takada, so it depends on where they came from..
  7. Indeed, alpha geeks unite... Degree, masters, bunch of different professional stuff and I work in IT. So obviously I also qualify as brain dead - I seem to vaguely recall the dictionary definition, Oh yes, it's called sarcasm.......
  8. Nice summary Linas. It's possible to postulate a number of reasons why he might get upset, unfortunately, none of them are goof.
  9. I'm probably not going to get the plastic bumper done, but the metal, definitely. A few chips on the plastic show a bit of character :)
  10. I'm getting the stone chips and scratches sorted on my F by a decent printshop. Running around in their CT200h whilst they do the car, horrible thing, a Prius in disguise. Anyway, apart from missing the F, I am now seriously considering getting the front end and possibly the sides covered in a clear wrap after the paint has cured, to cut down on the stone chips in the future. Anyone got any thoughts on this? Any recommendations for someone to do it in Surrey or Berkshire? Cheers
  11. +1 for a blackvue Nicely unobtrusive
  12. Also, re MPG, I can echo what Linas says, UK motorway - around 31, depending on how you drive it, Autobahn, a bit less.... My overall average is a tad under 26.
  13. Can't help you with the dealer or price, however in 3 years I've so far done 60k in my IS-F and all it's needed has been routine servicing and tyres. Compared to the variety of other stuff I've had in the past, it's remarkably robust and reliable. I did take out the extended warranty, however the car is so good that it's only a safety blanket. I've got no intention to change the car as it suits what I do with it perfectly. The most expensive service parts I've needed have been the brake pads and discs, however they are off the shelf Brembo items which can be bought for a lot less than paying for the same things in a Lexus box (which I annoyingly discovered about a week after I'd paid for my local Lexus dealer to fit the badged ones). I did buy an 18 yr old range rover to lug junk around, after I got fed up with the amount of room. Particularly noticeable when retrieving student offspring in the summer holidays as well as trips down the tip etc. I think i'd been somewhat spoilt space wise as I traded a Land cruiser for the IS-F. It may be worth noting that I did not even consider ditching the IS-F for something with more load space, I like the car that much - enough performance and you can't beat the reliability, or, in my own experience, the dealer service which has been spot on. I am going to need to get some stone chips sorted out, combination of a few trips to Germany and relatively soft paintwork.
  14. I want to get the stone chips and a few scratches sorted out. Can anyone recommend a very good paintshop in or near Surrey? Cheers Jon
  15. My 2011 is not jittery, it's pretty much rock solid, even at autobahn speeds (several trips to Germany). Never noticed any significant effect from the wind either and I spend a lot of time trucking up and down the motorways in mine. If the tyre pressures are OK that suggests some other possible issue, perhaps a wheel took a knock and affected the tracking??
  16. What are the MPSS like in the wet? Last time I looked at them the tread seemed a bit too dry/track oriented for 24x7 use
  17. thats a nice round number. mines 64.5k at the moment. I'll have to see if I can remember to take a pic when it hits 66666.... :)
  18. Daily driver. 20k a year and love every mile......
  19. I too tried to figure out the best solution to transporting larger stuff with my IS-F. Solved the problem by buying a 1998 Range Rover which now sits alongside the IS-F on my drive and has the advantage of requiring less computerisation to tinker with. Interestingly, my wife has decided she prefers the IS-F and doesn't want to drive the Rangie, ever. Though she is being increasingly tempted away from her Jazz by the F.
  20. Peter, your car just keeps getting better and better..... Does that mean you don't have room for a pressure gauge when you fit the supercharger kit???? :)
  21. Interesting, mine is an 11 plate, with LEDs, sport button on the wheel etc. Didn't realise that there were so few in that configuration.
  22. I had adaptive headlights on my previous toyota, I always thought the benefit was minimal and it just made for a more expensive, less reliable headlight assembly. So I didn't miss it when I swapped into my F. So I'm curious, have you run an F with AFS? Did it really make a tangible difference to night time driving? Or has your experience been with other manufacturers?
