  1. ..........................History, MOT`s and contact the previous owner. Regards John
  2. As one gets older Lee, one realises that life is a single journey and there is no option to return from whence one came. They are both fine cars, but in different ways.Test both well, and choose the one that best fits your circumstances and budget. DO NOT OVERLOOK TO CARRY OUT THE USUAL CHECKS re Service Good luck. Regards John
  3. Matthew, You simply must take several on extended test drives. They are potential Rocket Ships and can easily lead one astray. Having said that, they are in my view divine to drive. The power is instant and seamless and mostly silent. The CVT box is wonderful but there is no indication via noise that anything is happening, unlike a conventional auto, except for a background buzz. Do try to ensure that it has a FULL LEXUS HISTORY AND CHECK THE MOT HISTORY. CONTACT THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND ASK HIM WHY HE SOLD IT AND DID HE EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS.ASK LEXUS IF THEY WILL SELL YOU A WARRANTY BEFORE YOU BUY ONE.FROM A DEALER. Good luck, Regards John
  4. I was driving back to UK in the E Class Estate and was to spend my first night at Hotel Area Tudanca Aranda. I was on the M30, one of several concentric routes through to the A l in the direction of Burgos. I was in the second from the right of 4 lanes when I noticed a dark blue Peugeot 406? saloon approaching my rear.It was flashing its lights at me and indicating that I was to pull over and stop. It had three people inside including the driver. All were dressed in blue.I continued along and it came alongside me, all hazard lights flashing and the person in the passenger seat beckoned me to pull over and flashed an official looking badge in the side window. I continued to drive normally, so he overtook me and slowed down in front of me, lights still flashing.. I pulled out into the third lane amongst heavy and fast moving traffic and accelerated so as to maintain my place in the new lane. The Peugeot then gave up the chase and left the M30 via a slip road. The event was a little disconcerting and most unexpected. I reported matters to my Hotel and was told that it is quite common for thugs to impersonate Police vehicles and mug unsuspecting foreign tourists. The purpose of this note is to make all of you who travel abroad, especially into Spain aware of the incident and to advise you to be prepared, in so far as you can, for similar incidents. Regards John
  5. Congratulations, but please do not forget that is the motoring equivalent of a Saturn 5, the machine which propelled Apollo 11 to the Moon ! Regards John
  6. Very pleased to learn that news David. Many thanks for updating us all. Regards John
  7. It could be entitled "Independent Lexus Specialists across the UK" AND CONTAIN THE EXPERIENCES of Individual Members. It will soon become apparent which Specialists are the ones to be supported and which are the ones to avoid. A truthful description of the service one receives cannot be libelous. In fact, if Members are requested to report only those experiences which represent good service/value, then the question of libel does not arise. MB Club UK has one such section. Regards John
  8. Good news indeed Roger. It is always pleasing to me to learn that Members are more than satisfied with their vehicles. I also belong to a Mercedes Forum or two and it is they who have problems, who write in . Satisfied members are as rare as a PRESTON GUILD ! Regards John
  9. Point taken David, but distance does not minimise their Stautory obligation to you. You might consider telling them that you will have the matter addressed to your satisfaction at your local Lexus Dealer and the Final Cost invoiced directly to them (the seller),or you might consider paying it yourself and pursuing them through the Small Claims Court for settlement. You might also consider looking at honesttjohn.co.uk for many many similar cases to yours. I will let the matter rest now but do inform us all of the outcome. Regards John
  10. Thanks David. If it came from a Dealer then it is his responsibility to fix at his cost, notwithstanding his or any statements that the problem was not evident at the point of sale..The Sale of GOODS ACT gives you a Stautory Warranty for six months from the date of purchase.I suggest that you go back to him and remind him of his Stautory responsibilites .If necessary, consult the local Citizens Advice Bureau and a Solicitor. There is no reason why you should incur significant personal expenditure to have the matter resolved. Good luck. Regards John
  11. Just read through this entire post again. David, you said at the outset that you acquired the vehicle. Was it from a dealer or a private purchase? Regards John
  12. But that is a G Wagen, that`s not a car, it is a Tank! And it will continue to appreciate in value. Have communicated with you occasionally on the MB Forums. Regards John
  13. Thanks Ian.Very useful. I do not yet need one for GS 450H, BUT WILL NEED ONE SOON FOR THE W210 WHICH IS 14 YEARS OLD IN JANUARY. Regards John
  14. Ian, Do you know if "the guy in Leeds" has a website and if yes, can we have it please? Do let us know what you think of your new system, especially how it compares, noise wise, with the original system. Regards John
  15. Give the car an occasional ITALIAN TUNE UP.....ie drop from top gear (on say a very clear road) to produce say 3500/4000 revs for up to 1/2 mile or so, so as to clear the exhaust system. I do it a lot in the E class estate. Seems to work for me. Regards John
  16. Excellent figures Simon. The Mark 3 however seems to average around 35mpg overall. Regards John
  17. Warning of a Missile launch from North Korea, David ???? Regards John
  18. But you are showing your age Phil.....and you are correct,it was indeed Pepsodent. I`m drinking too much Rioja here in sunny Spain!! Regards John
  19. I`d have used Sterodent !!! (You`ll wonder where the yellow went...............) Looks good Mark. Lots of advice on Mercedes Forums and Youtube of course. Regards John
  20. The arithmetic is spot on Graham, so cannot dispute that. 45 mpg FROM A 6 CYLINDER AUTO? is simply outstanding.Congratulations. Regards John
  21. I agree with you Steve. No point in spoiling the ship for a halfpenny of tar ! Regards John
  22. So am I Bob. He needs to divide Litres by 4.546 NOT 12/6d !! Regards John
