  1. So, the Lexus Service Manager was wrong? He led you to believe that a failure was covered by the Warranty and the Lexus Regional Manager says that a failure is wear and tear !! An unacceptable situation me thinks. What on earth have you been paying the warranty payments for then? The failure is mechanical and not specifically excluded under the warranty terms. Wear and tear is in my view an excuse, not a reason. Appeal and if unsuccessful go to the Ombudsman with the facts and quote all of the members on this Forum who have had them replaced under Warranty. Best of Luck, John Regards John
  2. Been to Spain and back, driving from Calais to border with Spain, twice for the last 11 years and not been asked to produce anything. Had everything with me though, just in case. Do take a spare bulb set, as it is simply not worth the risk.We are not France `s No1 partner at the moment !! Regards John
  3. Pleased to hear it James. Enjoy what will be the best car you have ever had, with the best drive you have ever had, in the fastest car you need. Just watch the fuel gauge closely as sometimes it can be faster than the clock !! Regards John
  4. Many thanks Geoff. Two rear fog lights are contrary to what the UK law requires and in my view are totally unnecessary. it might look good, but not required. Regards John
  5. Ask for it in writing, then appeal, then the Ombudsman John. Incidentally, it was presumably unexpected because the eventual failure had been flagged up at a major service, then/so, had a claim been made when first noticed at that service it would have been accepted because it was not expected ??? (if you get what I mean) Regards John
  6. "In my experience driving behind a vehicle equipped with twin rear fog lamps completely masks the appearance of rear brake lights and can lead to the following driver not realising that the vehicle in front is braking and that the distance between the two vehicles is being reduced significantly. Just my observations." Well said Daniel. And how many idiots do not drive with dipped headlamps on in poor visibility? And how many idiots drive with their day driving lamps on, not realising that the rear of the car is not lit up ? We could go on but, changing bad practices requires re-educating people and most just do not want to learn or re-learn. The Highway Code is a manual of good driving habits, which are often ignored or forgotten once the licence has been obtained. Regards John
  7. Look at honestjohn.co.uk for real world consumption and a review of the vehicle. The GS is significantly bigger and better specced than the IS. Enjoy the test drive James. Regards John
  8. Thank you Robert for the vivid description of what could have been a very nasty incident. It encapsulates why I always drive my Silver GS with dipped headlamps on.......the idea is not to improve my vision, but to show others where I am. Not foolproof ,but it can help others should they choose to look where they are going!! Regards John

  12. Add your wife/partner Dave as a named driver and it may well reduce. Regards John
  13. In my experience driving behind a vehicle equipped with twin rear fog lamps completely masks the appearance of rear brake lights and can lead to the following driver not realising that the vehicle in front is braking and that the distance between the two vehicles is being reduced significantly. Just my observations. Regards John
  14. Roswell was in 1947 Garry. That was 69 years ago.Can you explain please as I was only one year old then ? Regards John
  15. And Brasso works too, says Honest John. Regards John
  16. Sorry to learn of that Robert. I`m glad that they are still working. If you live in a village then chances are that the BMW will reappear, so have a camera at the ready and "snap" his head off! BMW, Audi and increasingly (new) Mercedes drivers are the sort of people that one would not choose to dine with. Regards John
  17. Can`t speak for California, but I understand that TEXAS miles are much much bigger than little old English miles. I swear by my Mercedes too.......damn electrics, bloo*y rust !! Regards John
  18. Bob is spot on Derkins. 1.The Trader has a Statutory responsibility to correct at his expense any significant fault which occurs within 6 months of your purchase. You do not have to prove anything as the fault is deemed to have been present when you bought the vehicle. The fact that he is 300 miles away is irrelevant and he should pay for a reputable local to you repair/replacement part(s). 2. The AA Warranty is irrelevant and should never have been purchased. Explain to AA and seek to cancel.. 3. Honest John at honestjohn.co.uk is simply the best motoring journalist this side of Alpha Centauri and you should email him pronto. 4. Yes, when the problems have been sorted you simply must try for a Lexus Warranty. All the very best to you in your endeavors. Regards John John
  19. Had mine for 3 years now without any problems.Still on original brake pads and discs and it wafts along in dreamlike silence. Had 60,000 mile (6 years ) service yesterday with odometer showing 40,000 miles covered. Nothing required apart from oils, plugs and filters and it sailed through its MOT without any advisories..The GS is a stunning motor car. Treat it with the utmost respect Steven for it is a wolf in sheep`s clothing. Enjoy motoring pleasure. Regards John
  20. Try this guy Steeve. If he cannot help he might know someone who can ! www.replacementmercedeskeys.co.uk Regards John
  21. Thank you for sharing your story John. The GS 450h now looks a real treat and we now know which Trader to avoid in future. I hope that all goes well for you and that you have many happy hours enjoying your Rocket Ship. A LEXUS Warranty might be a sound investment ? Regards John
  22. The Warranty from Warranty Direct will not cover the Hybrid Battery. Rayanns logic is more than sound! Regards John
  23. I`ll bet they did for the U.S. and £94 over 5 years is only £19 per year ! Depends on your perspective James ! Regards John
