  1. Discounts are ignored as it is the vehicle`s list price plus options list price that determines taxable sum. Regards John
  2. Hello Mark and welcome. Your wife is clearly being well advised and guided, but what are you driving now as your daily drive? Regards John
  3. The difference between the cars Carl,or the tyres ? Regards John
  4. I would not have toched that one with a bargepole! You will know instantly when you see a car which has been treated with respect Jamie. Regards John Regards John
  5. I do not believe so Jamie. The name and address of the previous owner should be on the V5 form (Registration Document) which should be in the possession of the Dealer who is selling the car. Another source of Dealers would be for you to speak with your local Lexus Dealer and ask him who he passes cars on to which are older or have done more mileage than the Lexus Dealership would wish to sell. Good luck and Regards John
  6. Why not try to speak with their previous immediate owners Jamie and see what information you can glean ? Regards John
  7. It is not a panacea I know Dave as Mrs Roy occasionally receives 1 carrot or 1 banana, when she knows (and they know) that she ordered multiples !! Regards John
  8. Begs the question as to why more people do not shop on-line? The store comes to you and consequently one does not use petrol, meet ignorant or irate people, have to find a convenient car parking space and check the car for pings/dings or worse. Regards John
  9. You are one very fortunate boy John. You are in love with three old girls, can ride (in) them daily and your wife is in full approval ! Do not spoil a good thing. :):):) Regards John
  10. Sorry to learn of your plight Faustas. If it were me,I would take it straight to Lexus for them to diagnose and repair/replace under their extended warranty and I would not seek to diagnose myself nor involve any 3rd parties, lest Lexus seek to absolve themselves for you/me having done so. I am sure that others members on here will have some technical advice for you,but remember the reasons for your securing the extended warranty. Good luck. Regards John
  11. I am not saying that you are wrong Paul, nor am I saying that you are correct, nor am I a lawyer and nor am I a technical expert on anything, but I am saying that it is important that one is aware of the law of libel. Regards John
  12. Thanks Paul. I am NOT an expert...read ALL of this and be informed. http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/lexus/gs-2005/?section=history Regards John
  13. 292bhp Jamie plus 197bhp (275Nm of Torque from a standstill), from the Electric Motor, gives you a rarely experienced glide. Regards John
  14. Thanks David, I understand and accept all that you say. I administered our fleet before I retired over 11 years ago. I purchased my Company Car (Merc Estate) when I retired. It had 60,000 miles on the clock and I had driven them all, so I had confidence in it. It is now 14 years old and has covered 215,000 miles. It takes me to and from Spain twice yearly using a variety of routes and still has its first generation sat nav system.I have never updated the system for any reason and I use my brain when I am faced with newly constructed roads or active roadworks. We have a daughter who lives in Leuchars in Fife and rather than face the chaos that seems to be around Glasgow these days, we go through Biggar, Edinburgh and the Forth Road Bridge. My understanding is that sat nav updates these days are usually 18/24 months behind the times anyway and are poor value for money.. Good luck with the IS300h, which I understand is a fine car and ideal from a B.I.K. perspective due to its low co2 output. Regards John
  15. Helpful Linas, thank you. At least we are beginning to assemble some kind of context in which arguably perceived tardiness on the part of Lexus, by some club members can be viewed. Regards John
  16. Perhaps I should have said "owners" as in my experience it is Company Car drivers, not private owners who are renowned for speccing up their cars. I see that Mark has already latched onto this point. Sorry, If I confused you David. Regards John
  17. Spot on Mark. Paris is still where Paris was, as is Birmingham. No towns or cities have moved. The majority of owners who wish to update are probably not owning their own cars or paying for their fuel ? Regards John
  18. Forum 1... a certain Lexus Dealership 0...a fine result, me thinks. Regards John
  19. Some background for you and others Rebecca. http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/askhj/answer/70346/honda-jazz-airbag-recall- Regards John
  20. This is my original post Roger. I made a point yesterday of dropping in on this chap yesterday afternoon to see what he has to offer given that he is midway between Lexus Chester and Lexus Liverpool. Glyn Jones is his name and he operates from an individual garage behind the big car sales shrowroom (Wright/Heathland) on the Chester Road in Heswall. He tells me that he is an ex Lexus man and runs a Toyota Hilux and services all makes of vehicles. He had a BMW being serviced on his ramp at the time of my visit and he has been in business for about 8 years if my old memory serves me correctly. I was particularly interested in having him quote for a hard wire installation of a dash camera in my GS Hybrid and for the provision of 4 All Season tyres so that I could compare with the quotes provided to me by one of the Official Lexus Dealers locally. The hard wire installation quote was one third of the Lexus price and he can do it next week. I am still waiting to hear from Lexus re the tyres. They promised to contact me but have failed to do so.(not the first time they have failed to phone back and very disappointing given Lexus` highly publicised customer ratings).Mercedes not phoning back is a given ,but Lexus not phoning back suggests that Standards of Performance need reviewing ! Glyn phoned me back that afternoon re the tyres! I am not associated in any way with this Indie, but thought it might be helpful for members (IN THE LOCAL AREA) to be aware that there is an Indie who might be able to help them ( at a competitive rate) with tasks needing to be undertaken on their vehicles which are no longer under Official Lexus Warranty. His contact details are; Glyn Jones Unit4 Leighton Estates Chester Road, Heswall CH60 3RZ TEL;0151 342 9944 or 07545846762. Ceramicolive likes this Quote Edit Regards John
  21. Just looked at Lexus website Steve and it says 10 years or 140,000 miles. What you were told is not what the website says. Look yourself and bring it to the attention of whoever told you 100,000 miles. Regards John

  23. Jamie, the estimate assumes that you do not have any problems and that all goes well with buying from a suitable Dealer/Trader and that Lexus will accept your purchase for the Extended Warranty Scheme. All of that may indeed happen and I hope it does go well for you. I would suggest however that you build in an appropriate cushion of contingency amounting to approx 30%, say £900 to bring your anticipated first year expenditure to £4,000.(£333 pm). This would cushion the effect of having to deal with matters such as replacing wheel bearings, changing transmission oil, replacing brake pads and possibly discs, miscellaneous bulbs and wiper rubbers. If some of these items occur (bearings, oil and discs) in the first 6 months of purchase from the Dealer/Trader,he may stand the cost. But if they occur after 6 months, then you would have to meet the cost. Whatever occurs Jamie, I think that some sort of contingency should be built into the figures. Just my view Jamie and I do hope that all goes well for you. Regards John
