  1. Have mine on a service plan too and have not paid anything extra over 4 years.(Car is approaching 7 years old). Think I pay £30 something monthly and it seems to be inexpensive luxury motoring to me. Regards John
  2. And I bought my late dad many years ago, a cd player and after a couple of days he told me it had broken down.I went round to investigate and discovered that it was in perfect working order........he had been turning the disc over at the end of play and could not get it to work !! And I am now my father David. Lucky old me. Regards John
  3. Never been able to exceed 499 miles to the tank of fuel. That is, miles covered plus miles remaining according to on-board computer (OBC).If I can ever achieve 500, then 500 divided by tank capacity would give me 35 mpg overall. Now, I don`t think that is unreasonable for a car which breaks 6 seconds to 62mph and has a top speed limited to 155mph. Regards John
  4. Really pleased for you Martin. Now you know what it is like to sit on the flight deck of Concorde and man the Bridge of the USS Enterprise, both at the same time. Beware the speed cameras as she has Warp Drive! Regards John
  5. Mine is an e class estate 2.2 cdi, with 200,000 plus miles and an engine made by Massey Ferguson, I think. Still it is economical and as Spacewagon says it does not have any of the modern paraphenalia to worry about. Regards John
  6. That`s very good new Martin. It would not however stop me from taking it straight round to my local Lexus Dealer and asking them to spot anything that would prevent them from putting it onto a Lexus Warranty. In that way you have an independent assessment on the integrity of the vehicle and can return to the Dealer promptly should there be a need to . Hope all goes well. Regards John
  7. Times are tough aren`t they David? When we were young and wanted to save to buy a car, the only colour we could have....was black. And we kept it clean and opened the Quarter Lights on a very hot day. No infotainment system, heater or hazard warning lights either.. Regards John Enjoy the Lexus motoring
  8. Martin, do not overlook the fact that a dealer has to accept responsibility for anything significant that goes wrong with the car within the first 6 months of your ownership. This is called a Statutory Warranty and is often overlooked by a purchaser. Farqi has offered some sound advice to you and I hope that all works out well for you. Regards John
  9. Very sorry Malc.I had no intention of annoying you. I was speaking generally, not specifically and had not even looked at the car or the dealer in question. I`m signing off too. Regards John.
  10. If only life were that simple Malc. The Statutory Warranty will cover items which pre-existed the sale, but you can bet your bottom dollar that any other warranty will exclude such items. Most warranties (excluding the Statutory Warranty) are designed simply to induce a sale by offering something (a warranty) which will turn out to be not worth the paper it is written on. There is much to be said for buying from a Lexus Dealer or one of a very small number of honest traders. Regards John
  11. Statutory Warranty will only cover the first 6 months. Regards John
  12. No surprise there as Traders must provide a Statutory Warranty !! Regards John
  13. So true Shahpor. And I would still argue from now until Armageddon, that having been certified as fit to enter the Warranty at 139,000 or 169,000 miles, the vehicle`s Warranty claims cannot be dismissed as "wear and tear" if the subject of such a claim is the failure of a "protected part." But that is another story !! Regards John
  14. And with 139,999 miles on the clock at the at the start of the Warranty Shahpor, there is much room for Lexus to blame "wear and tear". Regards John
  15. Plus one (and bring back the Camry estate!!) Regards John
  16. A wonderful capture and I do hope that some suitable organisation benefited from a charitable donation Steve. A new drive shaft fitted under warranty after 10 years.....wow, makes one feel proud to own a Lexus. !Regards John
  17. Both interesting and informative Nick. If I were to write about my 14 years with my E Class Estate, I could not avoid mentioning the need for; a new Electronic Ignition Switch a new wheel bearing a new digital readout ribbon strip two new rear suspension coil springs a new drivers window regulator a new radiator, a new air conditioning unit various intermittent electrical glitches, etc, etc. It had been the best car I had owned, but then 4years ago I bought my GS and since then.....nothing has required attention. Lexus 100, Mercedes nil !! Regards John
  18. You do not need a beep.......you need a brain young Paul. :):):) Regards John
  19. Not what I expected from you young fella.I`ve taken you out of my World X1 to play Mars ! :) :) :) Regards John
