  1. You are not mistaken Phil. All over the Newsreels and free advertising. Regards John
  2. That silly Top Gear programme. Toyota Hilux probably. Most of the World`s Charity/Aid Associations seem to drive Toyotas.....I wonder why ? :):):) Regards John
  3. Denis, You are clearly misinformed. The Aussies say that if you wish to venture into the Outback, then take a Land Rover or a Land Cruiser. If you wish to come back alive, then take the Toyota . Regards John
  4. Thanks Paul .Yes, I think I get the idea, but it suggests a Kama Sutra position rather than advice to Lexus motorists :):):) Regards JOHN
  5. Not the sort of attitude that will gain you a seat at the Round Table at Camelot Barry. A Damsel should never be subject to distress :):):) Do not forget to update us with your experience of the 5 Series. Regards John
  6. And today according to Honestjohn, Toyota Hybrids in UK are regularly clocking 400/500 thousand miles as taxis, without problems. Regards John
  7. I had one for 2 years and not one single thing went wrong. It had 2 odometers, which was unusual in its day. It succeeded a Nissan Sunny which was also completely trouble free. I had a Daihatsu Charade (trouble free) I`ve had 1 Audi 100, 4 Mercedes and not one of the 5 has been without faults. German engineering is a myth!!! Regards John
  8. Have a look at this Daniel https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/lexus/gs300-1998/ Regards John
  9. Hangie is right. Just leave it alone and let the Dealer who supplied the vehicle do all of the necessary. Regards John
  10. Drove to Germany in mine in `72. Down to Munich and Stuttgart, back up alongside the border (then) to Wolfsburg. Across the Border near Magdeburg and along the corridor to Berlin.East German Border Guards on motor cycles at every exit with machine guns strapped to themselves. Drove up to Checkpoint Charlie and was given a guided tour of West Berlin by a Texan who had just finished duty and boy was he impressed by my "stickshift" Back to Wolfsburg for a guided tour of the Beetle production line, then back home to Wirral.3000 miles in two weeks....the stuff that dreams were made of !! Regards John
  11. I had two Type 3 Fastbacks, both in Texas Yellow. Regards John
  12. Or Fabian of Scotland Yard ? (Bruce Seaton ? ) Regards John
  13. I have Kumho All Season tyres on my GS450H Damien and they are just fine costing approx £85 each fitted. Part worn tyres and cheap tyres from any country are for idiots not Lexus owners. Regards John
  14. A Starlet Bernard? You certainly know your cars.Or perhaps a Corolla or Daihatsu Charade or Terios ? Regards John
  15. My 2010 does not have one. When one reaches a certain age Fireblade then one`s wish to be part of, or ahead of the crowd ceases to be important. I am content with what I have. Enjoy yours however it is or however it becomes.. REGARDS jOHN
  16. Which Morrisons Norm...Chester ? It is unlikely that they would have been dislodged had they been secure but hang on for the damage to be repaired by them at their cost, notwithstanding any signs rejecting liability. You might ask on Facebook to find out if anyone else has suffered damage locally. Regards John
  17. Sorry to learn of your problems Ade. Can I ask, where did you buy the car from (privately or a Dealer?), when and which DEALERSHIP DID YOU TAKE IT TO TO BE TOLD THAT IT NEEDED £2600 to be spent ? Regards John
  18. I just love reading MOTOBIOGRAPHIES such as the one Andy has written. I do not consider him to be a Nerd or an Anorak or whatever someone is likely to call him. In my book his attention to detail shows that he is interested and cares passionately about his Lexus and it shows to us all that owning and running and maintaining one can be an excellent long term investment. Regards John
  19. I am unable to explain why Mark.Suggest you type the address into GOOGLE. I found the contents to be very informative. Regards John
  20. ALWAYS NICE TO KNOW WHAT THE DIFFERENT WRITE OFF CATEGORIES ARE; https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/know-how/what-is-an-insurance-write-off/ Regards John
  21. Very pleased for you Robert..That must be the most outstanding "Ford that never was" in Essex. It seems to be a superb vehicle and your comments re the Dealer are nice to receive. Which Dealer was it please? Do not forget that any significant problems which occur are the Dealers responsibility to fix (at his cost) if they occur within 6 months of purchase. Enjoy many miles of Starship Motoring. Regards John
  22. Have driven from Wirral to near Hannover in 2 days, three times.........an absolute breeze in a quality motor car. Have driven from Wirral to Andalucia in 4 days in an old Merc twice each year for the past 12 years...... again an absolute breeze. The secret is to select a quality vehicle, take your time, enjoy the scenery and listen to the wind!! Regards John
