  1. Thanks Malc, much appreciated.. I received your comment in the spirit with which it was sent. The OP asked for our thoughts and I gave him mine. For the avoidance of doubt and misunderstanding in what on the face of it is an extremely sad situation, whereby a considerable sum of money has been spent in good faith on what turns out to be a less than satisfactory product and the provider has washed his hands of the problem, I would have no hesitation myself in pursuing the matter via the small claims track of the County Court. The OP having exhausted the option of asking the provider to make good, should in my view seek the only remedy which appears to be available to him. He would be would be well advised to seek assistance from Trading Standards, CAB or a local Solicitor.
  2. Inform the Lexus Main Dealer who supplied and fitted the entire new exhaust system for £2000 that the product was not fit for purpose and that you require him to make good the system so that it performs satisfactorily for a minimum of 5 years. If he fails to do so, you will have a new stainless steel system fitted and sue him in the small claims court for the cost of the replacement system plus a sum for the trouble you will have been caused by his negligence in failing to provide something that was significantly inferior to that which £2000 should have bought. Inform him (the Dealer Principal) in writing and send the letter by recorded delivery and keep copies of all correspondence. Send a copy to Lexus UK for information only at this stage. Let us all know how you get on.
  3. Worst was a 1964 Hillman Imp, best was/is 2010 Lexus GS 450h.
  4. So, I think that you are a risk taker Ben and you think that it is worth the risk. Let`s agree to disagree ever so slightly. :):):)
  5. I do not think that one is being overcautious Josh. I see it as a sensible move which reduces the chances of one`s Registration Plate being cloned.
  6. So sorry to read your report Stuart. I have just returned after 3 months in Andalucia; my electric windows failed, my windscreen washer packed up, my Horn stopped working and ESP.BAS warning lights are on. The only salvation was that I was in the E class Merc, not in the GS which started first time, having been hooked up to the Solar Charger, You were very unfortunate to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and I am pleased to learn that only the car was damaged and not you.
  7. I have only just seen this thread, but my view is that the 7th line of Les` thread is balderdash and I would demand a meeting with the Dealer/Garage Principal and inform Lexus UK of what is happening. It smacks to me of bureaucratic incompetence and someone wishing to obtain commission.
  8. I think that the Warranty specifically excludes audio equipment, but read yours closely to make sure. Good luck. Don`t forget to ask your wife "how fast are you cornering?" :):):)
  9. And I once flew from Vancouver to Calgary Phil and I think that we passed you en-route !!
  10. James, you can still see the odd Toyota Camry Estate for sale if you look hard enough. Enough carrying capacity for most families. Might be reintroduced when the Camry is reintroduced to UK soon ??
  11. Toyota has committed to building the new Auris at Burnaston thus replacing the Avensis build.
  12. Well, one lives and learns ! Many thanks for the technological update Connor. We`ll see if anything develops!
  13. I would imagine that the overwhelming majority of Lexus owners use the lighter socket as an electrical power source rather than as a source of ignition. Or have I missed the point completely Samuel ?
  14. Was it a private purchase or did you buy it from a Dealer Malc?
  15. Yes Phil and David, it is the dealers responsibility to fix at his own cost any significant repair which is required within 6 months of purchase. Back to the Dealer David and demand that he abides by his responsibilities, or else demand your money back and return the car. Name the Dealer and his location if you feel able to.
  16. Well, if that is the height of Lexus Road Rage, I am much comforted.:):):)
  17. David, who was the guy who warranted................. We have a member , Richard of Hybrid Battery Solutions who has a good reputation.
  18. Linked via a Registration Number yes , but more importantly the VIN Number. A contract is still a contract and the onus must be on the Seller to retain such information which enables him to discharge his responsibilities to the purchaser , whilst retaining the confidentiality of the purchaser`s information. The purpose of the new legislation cannot be to enable the seller to escape his responsibilities.
  19. So, on the basis that the consumer is king and taking market forces to its logical conclusion, if all prospective purchasers were to demand sight of the vehicle`s previous history and all Dealers stated that they had destroyed them, then there would be no purchase and no sale! This only needs to happen once on one single day in co-ordinated action and boy would circumstances change! Sadly consumers of all products fail to recognise latent and co-ordinated power. I have no left winged or socialist learnings but I do recognise the potential of consumer demand, or rather, the lack of it. Social media is however leaning towards motivating the consumer:):):)
  20. The fact that the previous owner`s details are not on the V5 surely emphasises the need to ensure, so far as one reasonably can, that a vehicle has a full documented service history and is bought from a reputable Dealer?
  21. The LS 460 did not have a CVT box. I believe it had an 8 speed Torque Converter box.
  22. I do so enjoy reading contributions like this.A satisfied owner, driver and mind.
