    James, Thank you very much--that was not a hijack that was a complete theft ! I really really enjoyed that and I could see images of people I knew and the stances they took at the time. I found it to be obliquely funny throughout. The Primera was in my view a much under rated car. It was the first car I had driven which had a reversing camera. I felt really sorry for the lad (and his wife) who was presented with the Maestro Diesel. The definition of a Maestro at the time was most appropriate.....Someone who comes into great applause, performs for a short while and is then clapped out !

    Thanks Herbie. I have neighbours in Spain who disconnect the Negative lead for 3 or 4 months and their car fires up without any problem.

    I endorse what Bob has said Paul. And you can take out a Service Plan, interest free for approx £30 per month. And the Warranty will cover the car for up to 140,000 miles and the Hybrid Battery will be covered for 15 years subject to 10,000 miles per year. Oh, and welcome to the club by the way.

    I too have heard that Alan and I`ve witnessed 2 people drive away in their cars after re-attaching the negative lead. I wonder what Herbies view is ?

    45 will not be enough Joe.It will produce a harder and noisier ride and will encourage kerbing. I have 50 on the GS and 55 on the Merc. However I am an increasingly older fart, so whatever floats your boat Joe. Don`t forget to report back when you have found your nirvana !

    Don`t forget Joe that having a "mixed bunch of tyres and a 40 profile" will not be doing you any favours. If the friend`s car is not a GS 300 Mk3 then that will not help you either.

    Lifetime meant lifetime of the production run of the model ie. 6 or 7 years........but the manufacturers never told us that Nic ! Mercedes Indies recommend changing every 38/40k miles.
