  1. Well said Malcolm.
  2. Hi Steve, I have same car,but not had the problems you have described. Why don`t you ask on the USA site as they sell a lot of 450h over there ?
  3. I agree with your last sentence Rowley. As does the Government which is why the obligations of the Consumer Protection legilation has been enshrined in Law. Many Dealers try to avoid their Statutory Responsibilities by issuing their own (largely worthless||) warranties and failing to inform the buyer of their Staturory Rights. We call them "crooks." If one buys a 14 year old car, one expects it to work. The Legislation is there to help the buyer, not hinder him. We ignore it at our peril.
  4. The Dealer has to offer the Stautory Warranty( his legal obligation ) and that could be very expensive indeed.
  5. None. I asked the question, did you think that I answered it Simon ?
  6. Yes, mine was connected to the OBD 11 point under the dashboard. Others connect directly to the Battery which I did not want to do. It is important to ensure that the Solar Panel itself is facing South so as to maximise its use of the available daylight. Look to see if there is ayn help on Youtube.
  7. My GS started first time too Howard after spending 3 months at a time when we lived in Spain for 6 months of the year and it was connected to a Solar Charger.
  8. I agree with all you said Maurice. My wife wanted one but we couldn1t find one suitable so we made do with a French built Mark One Yaris CDX Auto. It did us fine ,without fault for 15 years.
  9. Wow, a Toyota Starlet Maurice. The best car never to be given a Joutnalistic accolade ?
  10. Hi Jeff. We sold our villa in Andalusia in August which meant I no longer had need for the 20 year old 260,000 mile Merc. I gifted that to the local Indy who had looked after it for me for the past 10 years and he will probably use it as a Courtesy Car. The GS 450h, I still have and will probably advertise it on this Forum once I have been able to take some suitable photos. It is a July 2010 Reg`n,FLSH and one previous ownwer and 67,000 miles. It is probably too fast for me now as I approach 77 and it is getting more difficult for Mrs Roy and me to get in and out of. It can still be warranted until 2025. The most suitable replacement we found was the NX from Lexus Liverpool with 3years old and 13,000 miles on the clock. I did look around Lexus Chester but they only had a very limited stock at the time. We find the NX to be easier to get in and out of. It sits higher off the ground and is well equipped. Best wishes.
  11. Davey, do you have any comment on the reflection in your NX ?
  12. The car not entering the READY state might be an indicator Maurice ?
  13. Had 3 Lexus and not read any of the Handbooks, Para ?
  14. Thanks for the update. Enjoy the Merc.
  15. No Davey, not at all. It could however have been better. They did not tell me about the initial 12 month Lexus Warranty nor about the Lexus Roadside Assistance which I have for 12 months alongside. And I had to request documentation in respect of each. Nor did they explain the Relax Warranty System to me. They could have been more helpful in assisting me to obtain the complete Owners Handbook. It is only available on line and cannot be searched I was told, so tough Mr Williams. was the message to me. But I consider myself to be reasonably well informed about matters motoring and Lexus in particular and they picked that knowledge up pretty quickly in talking with me.They were personable, pleasant and courteous. There were no flowers for the wife, but I did receive a full tank of E10 They will come to my home and collect and return the car for Servicing. I could not award 10/10,but they were not below 8/10 in my book. The car is fine and well equipped.
  16. It is not capable of being avoided in the manner you suggest Peter and it is not a target for a simple cover up using vinyl or similar. The angle of the windscreen is instrumental in identifying the problem. There has been for a good number of years, a disconnect between Manufacturers, Ergonomics expert and Health and Safety Bodies in my view. , Reflections, Cup Holders, Computer Screens and Software all come to mind.
  17. I witnessed it too Alan as soon as I drove my NX. For a car costing up to 50 Grand it is extremely poor design and manufacture. And now the 2nd Gen Nx has problems with its fuel flap ! Is Lexus hitting the buffers? I will not hold back whenever I am invited to complete a questionnaire on Lexus products. The Lexus hold on Reliability and Quality of Service is slipping and will soon be revealed.
  18. A nice well argued Post Graham based upon personal experience. There are many of us who agree with you.
  19. You are not alone in your thinking Malcolm.
