  1. Top bosses are only interested in Corporate Sales, not domestic. Corporate Sales deliver big bonuses. Mercedes, Porsche are 2 more examples of cheat engines.
  2. 20 years ago I wanted a Toyota Yaris. We had a caravan in remote North Wales, so Margaret and I went into the local Toyota Dealer and enquired. I was greeted by a smiling chap who just happened to own the Dealership and to run it with his wife. The garage facilities were staffed by local people. He had just what we wanted in the showroom, so he moved several cars to extricate it and literally threw me the keys."Take it out go anywhere, there`s petrol in it and bring it back when you are ready." I was astounded. He had not met or seen me previously and did not want me to deposit anything with him. I obviously had one of those faces or he was not a businessman. I insisted that he keep the keys to the Merc we had and off we went. I placed an order immediately upon my return and the Yaris is currently in Scotland being run by our eldest daughter! Lat week,we returned to the same garage, test drove a Yaris which they had sold x years ago to a local resident and which had been part-ex`d. It was still being run by the same owner and the same wife and the new premises had new garage facilities and was still staffed by local people. They had sold it and serviced it and they proudly produced the Handbook and Service book for inspection. They offered an unconditional 12 month guarantee and a new M.O.T. Certificate notwithstanding the fact that the last one had only been completed just prior to Lockdown. The facilities were full of new and old cars and his order book was blooming. Yes, they were business people indeed and could knock spots off most if not all so called Dealerships of any marque. A real pleasure to do business with such people. A rare gem amongst crooks! Would I buy a used car from them? I JUST DID !
  3. Great Post Bernie, which shows that none of us is alone in the car buying universe.
  4. Welcome to the L.O.C James. Now please tell us how you stumbled towards Lexus ownership and let`s see some piccies of the SE-L in its new surroundings.
  5. You were jolly fortunate James. Pete is one fastidious owner. Pete being Pete, if he forgot to give you a written lifetime guarantee, You should hand it back!! (LOL)
  6. Merc Sales people haven`t changed Richie. They do not want to sell, they want people to buy !!
  7. Golly gosh, what a really sad motoring tale that is. French, Italian and German hardware all "down the pan." That would make a good introduction to Grimms fairy Tales!
  8. Mercedes Dealers are hardly shining lights Les. In fact Mercedes Dealerships have been responsible for the growth in Mercedes Indies !
  9. 5000 miles annually is low and discs only half worn.In my experience if a garage says half worn, they are probably only 40% worn, so no action needed. Yes to service plan and yes to Extended Warranty. Chang those tyres as 6 years is time to change.
  10. Sorry Guy, but I don`t.Other members will come along I am sure as we have much knowledge on the Forum.
  11. Never had the Variant Phil, but I had 2 Fastbacks and Dad had a Notchback.
  12. Hillman Imp was my worst "a water pump a month", or so it seemed. Many, many years ago. 8 Japanese cars (Nissan(2) Daihatsu (1) Mazda (3) Toyota(1) Lexus(1) over the years and not one problem. German cars have never been reliable, people only thought they were. HJ approx 4 years ago could prove statistically that Fords were more reliable than VW`s !
  13. Great idea Malc. Why don`t all of you LS owners compile a list of potential items and ask the Mods to create a "sticky?"
  14. Do not forget my old friend that regardless of the length of our pasts, our current glasses are at least half-full.
  15. T`was built into the original spec in order to keep underside clean and protect from flying stones etc and to improve airflow around and under the vehicle and to reduce noise inside. So,replace in due course.
  16. Mine was 1948 vintage Barry with a split windscreen,3 speed box and a side valve engine. 0-60 in several minutes. The colour choice was Black or Black! I liked all of the subsequent colours, but the Maroon impressed me the most.
  17. A smart angle for a beauutiful car.
  18. You are right Mark, but if I thought (and could evidence) that you had sold me a car and hid from me facts or misled me or misrepresented the vehicle in any material way, I would have no compunction in suing you. I feel that Piers is following a logical and sensible route which may or may not prove fruitful. The sad fact may indeed turn out to be that due diligence was not followed by the new owner and the maxim of Caveat Emptor thus prevails.
  19. I will look out for you Chris.I`m off to Cromarty via Glasgow.
  20. Piers is spot on.You are best advised to pursue the problems logically.
  21. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Within the front and back covers Vlad !
  22. Ask Lexus and give them the vehicle V.I.N. and your proof of ownership.
  23. Take it back to the Dealer/ Trader who sold it to you and tell him to fix it at his cost. If you bought privately, see if this helps Lexus Indie Garages (1).docx
