  1. It is embedded in my psyche, I think Steve, that "Northern crooks" are better than "Southern crooks !"
  2. I don`t disagree Steve. We shouldn`t tar all with the same brush however. From my experience the best Lexus Dealers are the one which do not form part of the biggest franchises. Due diligence is an often quoted term which is not used by all buyers and when it is applied it is often dependent upon the veracity of the statements received. One can only do what is available to do. Facts are capable of being checked and they should be. We can only be available to help those that ask for our help, which we all give willingly and freely. Which Dealer was it that let you down by the way ?
  3. Expensive Land Rovers and Teslas are the most UNRELIABLE cars, says watchdog https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-8768905/Expensive-Land-Rovers-Teslas-UNRELIABLE-cars-says-watchdog.html
  4. Steve, If one can find a genuine private seller amongst the legion of crooks masquerading as private sellers in order to avoid consumer protection obligations, you may have a point.
  5. Pre- approved select is not a Lexus term, me thinks Bart. Is it a term used by non official traders ?
  6. Really good to know that our advice is sometimes heeded. Thanks Hilten.
  7. Motorline has been noted David. They do not set the World alight and do not do Lexus Customer Services any favours !
  8. Try turning to Hot for the last 10 mins of journeys for next few weeks and see if that helps.
  9. Thanks Keith. Reg No. to help Members to identify it please ?
  10. My understanding too, but Professor Herbie will be long soon to give us all a definitive statement, I am sure.
  11. You are right (again ! ) Richie. The legislation is designed to protect individuals not inanimate objects.
  12. Miracles do occasionally take us a little longer, Martin. The entire Forum will be watching this Thread Martin, so be on your best behaviour.
  13. Did you check the mileage on the MOT website I sent to you ? This is all I have on garages/Indies Martin. Good luck. Lexus Indie Garages (1).docx
  14. Piccies please David ?
  15. Hi Martin, Firstly, I forgot to welcome you to the Lexus Owners Club ! Secondly, if you don`t buy this one, perhaps you will buy another Lexus. Yes, you must ask the Dealer and keep a written note of whatever he says. It is not unknown for Dealers to provide their own "arranged" M.O.T. certificates in order to lull the potential new owner into a false sense of security. They then use the M.O.T. to support their contention "that all was well when it left me Gov" Have you checked the vehicles M.O.T. history and mileage? https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history If the work that might need doing has been done properly ,then you will be fine for several years, if not then if you discover that within 6 months of purchase you might be able to urge the Selling Dealer to fix at his cost. The very low mileage if genuine might also be a worry that necessary maintenance has not been carried out, but let us know what you find out from checking the link I gave you above. I do not know how much it would cost were you to fund the repairs. Stay in touch and let us know how you get on.
  16. Excellent John. I found that a really funny read. My wife complains constantly that there is no drop down glovebox lid upon which she can rest her teacup ! My golf clubs are accommodated nicely with my trolley in the boot !
  17. Hi William, welcome to L.O.C. and many thanks for the quick response. I use Lexus Chester too. Tom is outstanding and David is settling in well. The provision of a new Battery was welcomed I am sure, but it was what was required. If you go onto the Lexus.co.uk website an look under "Owners" you can download a copy of the Manual. https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/about-my-lexus/manuals/#manuals-form I do not know if the information you needed was in the Handbook I merely asked if you had looked. Anyway, as I have said, WELCOME. and do enjoy the quality vehicle you have.
  18. Thanks William. Which Lexus Centre did you use? Can you provide a link to the Lexus Blog please ? The information you refer to has been published widely on this website ? Was your Battery replaced under Warranty ? Was there no information in your Handbook ?
  19. Disappointing news Barry. but `twas far better to have loved and lost, than not tried at all. Let`s hope they reconsider positively. Some observations if I may; The Lexus Extended Warranty is cheap at £45 per month over each two year period .The price is fixed, interest free and can be paid monthly over 12 months. It covers all Electrical and Mechanical failures. It provides Breakdown cover for YOU when travelling in another vehicle! Unless I am very much mistaken, the Kia Warranty is not all it implies. It is a reducing warranty, so everything that is covered initially diminishes over time. Do read the small print as I have not. Please do keep us all updated.
