  1. Given I live a five minute drive away it'd be rude not to drop by. My F is a bit tatty at the moment but its still an F!
  2. Google wired hack jeep Cherokee for a fascinating article and video where wired (the it / business magazine) take over a jeep remotely via connected services. They were sitting on a sofa somewhere and after playing games with the ac and stereo they turned off the engine... And then turned off the brakes so he drove into a ditch. (not on the public highway!). Makes you think!
  3. I was told over the weekend a factory order (ie not in stock) would be three months. Whether I believe them is another question. That was an h premier spec at an astonishing £45k. In reality I think luxury with a few extras at 38k is more what we'd do. You'll probably all laugh but the alternative is the jeep Cherokee. Also 38k and similar spec regarding toys and tech. Obviously diesel rather than hybrid. Jeep are offering discounts too but the residuals will be worse. Swings and roundabouts...
  4. mines silver. Very subtle and reserved. Until 3500rpm or so.
  5. is the warranty covered for the financial ombusdman scheme for insurance complaints? Not covering such a key part of the car would surely be deemed a lousy policy wording and you might win a complaint?
  6. I never get front and back on any of my cars to wear out at same time! Still on oem bridgstones which have been fine including my track day recently. Never sure how hard I push but I suspect sometimes I am going quite fast without noticing. Easy to do when both cars are sub 4.5 to 60. I use avons on the lotus for track work but that's a different story...
  7. we have to remember 08 is a wee while ago now. Mines 60k give or take now and I'm conscious that sounds alot. Certainly more than a car I've ever owned, well since I was a kid anyway. but its less than 8000 a year which isn't much. all old cars may go wrong. Bits wear out. That's the quid pro quo against a newer one in return for less depreciation. personally I don't have the Lexus warranty as I'm self insuring with the savings. I have another car if needed too. (which is just back from 1400 worth or service becaue the suspension was is need of some tlc). Bills on fast cars happen. I drive the lotus pretty hard on track too to be fair.
  8. I used sidcup last year. The geo machine was out of order and they couldn't find the really obvious knocking noise which has got worse since. however I have very little time and will use them again soon for this years service as I feel I should stay with a main dealer to preserve the value as and when I change it..
  9. That's positive about the Indy. At 6 years plus old more of our cars will move to Indy garages as full dealer work is so expensive.
  10. Phil, its Dave from seloc. Good to chat the other day. you wont regret getting an isf I'm certain. As I said its the opposite of our lotuses but for me that's what I wanted. makes me enjoy the lotus all the more when I drive it. Steering feel and amazing brakes. But then the Lexus has that noise... Dave
  11. I had a great time yesterday and the ISF was wonderful fun. I wasn't exactly ragging it as I was uninsured (the lotus has a specialist policy which provides track cover). I ran the tyres at 40psi, somewhere between normal road and high speed road. My front brakes are a little worn so I didnt overdo the late braking either and besides I needed the car to survive given the lotus is off the road for a bit. If you get the chance you should do this with your car; really throwing it about and enjoying what it was designed to do. It feels SO much faster in real life than the video shows... https://youtu.be/Gb-75kRkKTw
  12. that's what I did for my rx8 years ago. Exciting. Just leaving for the hotel...
  13. ta for the reply Stu. I had a good rummage but oddly they didn't really seem to talk about pressures. I'm sure the folks at Bedford will he able to help. They have a fleet of m3s after all. historically ive heard two arguments. More pressure to keep shape in tyre. Less (cold) pressure so its about the when being used. Its going to be a giggle whatever.
  14. the lotus has a minor technical issue - a chaffing hose - that I can't sort before a day at Bedford Autodrome tomorrow. So I'm going to take the isf instead. Eek. What track pressures has anyone run? I'm thinking just letting them down to road pressure when running hot but I've no experience of a heavy car on track... Standard Bridgestone road tyres.... thanks. Should get some go pro footage too so will post that up in due course.
  15. bloody hell I thought the 500 odd quid we have to pay was bad. 460 is it? I try not to remember. Singapore has a similarly crazy initial purchase tax which makes even an aygo tens of thousands to buy. Its only money folks, enjoy life as on your last day you wont be wishing you'd spent more time in your aygo...
  16. welcome. I've a supercharger Elise and isf. The isf is a great stealth car as it isn't flash to look at for most folks but the petrol heads amongst us will know what it is. Mine is bog standard (other than winters fitted in, er, winter) and is a work horse doing 10,000 miles a year mainly on motorways for work. Its perfect. M25 proof automatic and will see off a hot hatch from the lights when needed. as an early ish model, 58 plate, its a bit harsh ride wise and when I get back in the lotus I really notice the steering feel. The lotus is noisy and tiny so its not a like for like comparison. I love my isf, so don't faff about get yourself one. Choice is limited as you no doubt know...
  17. hell of a car for the money. Any car with that mileage will have a few bits that aren't perfect and again any car have have an unexpected failure of something expensive. Its been used regularly so probably been reliable so far! Isf is well worth owning. Go for it.
  18. all round tyres would work all year. But not winters in the summer as they'll overheat and you'll have no grip... And they will wear out really quickly as the rubber is way too soft for tarmac which is 50' and baking in the sun. wide choice of cars there! Isf is a different class because of the power and noise. You only live once...
  19. I've got winters on The Family Fleet. Peace of mind in cold and rain, doesn't have to be snow. About to swap back to normal tyres although its still pretty cold and wet at the moment. my Tyre chap stores the sets not in use. Cost is annoying at the time he changes them but compared to say 500 road tax its neither here nor there (it all adds up mind). ....so I use normal rims.
  20. yeah thanks. Sounds like a fun day out...
  21. nice choice. Rather different to the F but that's part of the fun of changing cars.
  22. it is a lot of money. Especially when they say they like to fit new tyres or brakes. But next years service wont be so bad. Ask me again in August when mines due!
