  1. is it a high speed run day thing? Sorry not seen the other thread. Shame as its miles from me but a vmax run might tempt me out of bed early!
  2. with fs now up to what 9 years old, 6 owners and 100k miles isn't bad really. Fwiw ignore all of that stuff and buy on condition and history. if the paint is immaculate then be suspicious as it'll have been resprayed. That's not bad because maybe it just covered up annoying stone chips. But as the black one I walked away from showed, it could also mean a front end rebuild. To a high standard as it happens, but I walked anyway. cheap tyres is a very bad sign. If they go cheap on such a crucial component of any car let alone a 400bhp saloon, then what else did they scrimp on? Non main dealer work is fine as its bonkers to pay full Lexus prices as the car gets older but personally ill keep servicing it at Lexus for the stamp. thread drift but "gosh. Cold roads are fun!!"
  3. post the age value and miles folks, I'm too lazy to look them up!
  4. temperature: Heavy frost here in Kent last two days. Was glad of my winters as I drove off to a client meeting at silly o clock yesterday that's for sure.
  5. yes it does but gap only works on new cars. reis, my lotus insurer, won't offer agreed value as its not considered a classic or specialist sports car. They have offered ordinary terms though which I'm tempted with because maybe a niche insurer would me more reasonable? Who knows. Bastards they really are bastards.
  6. agreed gap won't work on my 08 car. Plenty of the lotus community have agreed value on "mundane" Elise and variants. I'll speak to the specialist who does my lotus (not agreed value) but my problem will be 10k mikes a year and business use. I still don't get where they got that value from. However, its only money and you got very, very unlucky to have it nicked. No one was hurt. #glasshalffull
  7. makes me wonder about a specialist policy with an agreed value. Might look into that.
  8. fos is funded by the industry so its free to consumers. I own a financial services business so see it from the other side too. I want to read that final judgement to comment further...but thebsettlement is in no way representative of the value of the car.
  9. oh my god that's appalling. I'm insured with them too. is that the final fos letter? If so it should be on the fox website duly redacted. bastards.
  10. what was the ambient temperature? Maybe if say 10' or more, given the power of our cars, they just didn't work as well as your summer tyres. But that would be outside of their optimum range. as i said yesterday, they feel different as you get more squirm from the tread blocks. wait for the snow then you'll realise just how amazing winters are!
  11. couple years back we did some tables if what was for sale. Dig out that thread as it'll be interesting to compare
  12. being new, does it have a flap to open? A loud exhaust in a track day might break noise limit. The lotus evora 400 has a stock exhaust that is too loud for most UK tracks. Crazy but true. Lotus developing "upgrade" which is quieter!
  13. I can't remember what I run mine at but I follow the pressure on the door, perhaps a little softer to take the edge off the ride. However my summer tyres are wearing more on the edge than middle of the tread because of that which is expensive! Are they brand new ? Give them a bit od time to settle in and see if they improve. Mind you a whole week should be enough. It wasn't usually hot weather?
  14. that sounds wrong. Are they fitted correctly? Right direction. Should be substantially better in the wet, not worse. And narrow is better in the standing water. mine go on tomorrow and I can assure you they are far better in the cold and wet. however, the tread blocks move much more so they feel very different. Perhaps thats what you can feel? But actual opposite lock style twitching, no that's totally wrong.
  15. they give you an answer. You appeal. You get a second answer. You appeal again and a final binding answer is issued and published on their website. Only the final appeal is published. Have a look for evidence that might support your case.... You never know what you'll find.
  16. each complaint costs the insurer a set fee something like 500quid. So its funded by firms that have complaints made against them. I run a Pensions advisory business so if we have a case against us, no matter how spurious, we have to pay (but get a couple of free cases each year so in reality they don't cost us either, as we get very very few complaints) you get a result, an appeal then the actual ombudsman makes a binding decision. So three attempts to get your case over.
  17. 14.2 is day light robbery. Hopefully somewhere around 19 which id be happy with if it were mine. Indeed I doubt mine is worth that but yours sounds better than mine. I've got kerbed wheels (my fault), stone chips (normal!) and the most annoying bit the leather in the drivers seat side bolster isn't great. Sounds fab though and hopefully some sod won't steal mine.
  18. op, can you get the dealer principle to write to fos valuing the car? Do they know you have the jag yet? how about we all out our cars up for sale for long enough to grab some more "used prices":?! my 08 70k okay condition, 25,0000 pounds for you Sir!
  19. lastly some price at high rate as they don't want the business. few years ago Aviva ran a scheme for lotus. Then their computer noticed increasing number of claims for lotus elise WITH business use. All of a sudden if you had both od those, they price was stupid. Exige and bizniz was fine. Elise and no bizniz fine too, but both = we don't want your money sir. the maths and stuff behind the scenes these days is impressive. but they should bloody pay the true value of OPs car.
  20. oh, value on inception when you get quote is pointless, the definition of value isn't "what you said" its what's worth. value box might trigger tracker etc. Interestingly I had trouble this renewal a few weeks back as the least expensive wanted tracker, which I've never had requested before. So i stuck with admiral. d
  21. in which case I remain hopeful outcome will be reasonable. If it were me id be doing a table of all the Fs for sale in the country and mileage and age and price to make it very clear to ombudsmen what your talking about. remember they see dozens of cases ans 99% will be Mondeo man moaning without due justification. make sure yours stands out. Make it easy for them to agree with you. exactly what is the definition of value in your policy wording?
