  1. i did think about second hand. The garage said it could be the bulb or the amp. I haven't got the energy to work it out so am happy to pay a reputable garage.... thanks for the replies folks!
  2. what's the record for a number of views and no reply? :) has no one had a headlight fail? It's booked into tech one in sidcup next week....
  3. our cars will go wrong when they get old. same as any other car. Okay the F is robust but given the state of the roads, stuff will wear out and brake. as noted before the trouble with sixty grand when new cars is that the bits are expensive. Especially if you pay less than twenty to buy the car. Tyres and brakes being good examples. I'll need new rears soon and no doubt that'll hurt.
  4. fwiw i let my Lexus warranty expire just after i purchased the car. At something like a grand a year i am happy to self insure. This is my main work car but if it breaks down I can always use my lotus. in the three years since, I've not had anything go wrong aside from the headlight blowing which i doubt is covered other than the misfire documented elsewhere. That would have been covered. so with hindsight i should have kept the warranty but that's hindsight for you
  5. mines on 75k and agree the suspension is anything but soft and saggy! Post above meant to say "with the miles i do..." Not mikes. had the wheels refurbished recently which made it look much less tatty. Just need the drivers seat bolster tarted up now. Have a quote for hundred quid or so, just not got round to sorting it out.
  6. last year i paid lexus to supply and fit new pads and discs at the front. I forget how much but it was alot. However, like tyres i didn't want to skimp on such an important item. we have to remember these are sixty grand cars and have 400odd horsepower. they may now cost less than 20k, but they ain't cheap to run.
  7. best one I've had was a Bentley something or another. Road i think we both knew well national speed limit and lots of roundabouts quite close together. Clean line of sight to ensure its not (that) dangerous. Both cars were fast. Both sounded great and we enjoyed ourselves and said 'nice one' at the end. i do sometimes drop a couple of cogs and floor it when I'm being tailgated as that annoys me. mainly though i like and early morning quite rural road with no one about where you can get into a rhythm at legal speeds whilst still pushing on.
  8. that blue one is a nice looking car. With the mikes in do plus a six year old boy with muddy footwear and my blue jeans in mind, I'd never get white leather.
  9. message me your email... No trouble.
  10. good luck! Silver blends into the crowd but is, some might say, somewhat dull. I like that though. The other day someone came over and said "that's an ISF isn't it? wow". You know they are a proper petrol head.... If you get a silver one, you could always wrap it.. I paid £21k ish 3 years ago for a 2008 with sunroof that at the time had 44k miles ish. It's now got 75k miles. Might as well use the thing eh? Dave
  11. Darn it, the drivers side HID has blown. What's the going rate for a replacement and do you need a garage to change it? I guess so with as they need to set the level I suppose. Thanks Dave
  12. I rarely have mine on re circ and when possible avoid the AC not for mpg reasons given the five litre v8, but its just not needed. I'd rather open the roof a bit. Now spring is here though, you need the ac more and more I do ten k miles a year if that's relevant - but sometimes after the ac has been on the car sets itself to re circ. Then the bottom of the front screen starts to mist up at which point I turn it off and the misting goes. makes sense really. A hot wet human in a car and re circ the air without the ac on = damp air. Damp air and cold glass = mist on glass. also agree check for water ingress coz if misting is bad then the damp is coming from somewhere.
  13. good it's no garage queen though. Way too many nice cars dont get used... but agreed 130k miles is too many for me. Indeed the 70k odd I've got on mine is the most by far I've ever had on a car.... I think my lexus was built better than my 1979 mini though!
  14. why are some of the photos taken with a wet car, and some without. curious. looks very tidy though. Too tidy for 130k if you ask me!
  15. just outside the m25 me.... Near Dartford.
  16. as counter intuitive as this sounds, and your instructor mates will no doubt verify, pump tyres to maximum permitted pressure. On track road pressure allows too much flex and you'll start getting wear on the sidewalls... make sure you have lots of life in your brake pads. This is the one consumable a new track driver can burn through as you tend to over brake. Also its a heavy car and within that sort of time I was getting brake fade albeit on tired pads and discs. My lotus can go round forever and never get fade. It weights half as much! don't be a hero. Drive ten fifteen mins max. Take a break. Lots of fluids. take out insurance. Road policy won't cover it. Its not cheap but then neither is mending an F. lastly, ENJOY YOURSELF
  17. im another who uses it when conditions allow.... Such as the cold wet weather recently which allowed me to practice certain elements of car control!
  18. not if you've got agreed value. There is nothing to negotiate. as for arguing like a professional, it didn't do the poor sod who had his nicked much good AND at the time these cheap ones weren't on auto trader. If mine, 70k 08 was written off now I'd be lucky to get 14k for it sadly. However if argue id need 18/19 to buy an equivalent. As did Mr Had It Nicked not that it helped. not a big fan of insurance as you can see, even though I've not been done over on a car yet I got stung on some office (loss of profits) cover where by they wouldn't pay me foe my time, but id id paid someone else for the same recovery work, they'd have paid heir bill. Gits.
  19. ahh the agreed value discussion again. If Adrian flux will do it then I need to give them a call given we know normal insurers will offer a terrible write off value; based in the other thread.
  20. absolutely. Besides sometimes it snows in April as prince sang.
  21. makes you realise how dinky the Scooby is.
  22. umm, wanna overtake and pre select the right gear? Flick the left hand paddle. Why would you want to press a tiny little button by your knee? or flick the big gear lever over and go manual.... mine is fine in traffic. I suspect that in comparison to a rolls Royce its rubbish, but compared to a manual Elise its as smooth as silk.
  23. maybe that insurer wasn't too far off after all. Both are 08 with 80k+. My guess is at 9 years old (or so) and mileage coming up to 100k, people start to have concerns over reliability. most folks wouldn't know our cars are generally reliable....
  24. its my birthday that week and I live in Kent so sorry guys...not this time. Bluewater is all of five mins away from me though so count me in next time we neet there. None of you have experienced my now twenty thousand mile misfire yet! No better no worse. Odd.
  25. with 200 owners its not a surprise its quiet. Isn't drive tribe the place to hang to chat? It's useful though and I learned alot when I started researching buying mine a few years back. it also doesn't work all that well on my windows mobile phone (I know, rare type of person. And isf and a win10 mobile!). I suspect its fine on android and apple but who wants to have the same kit as everyone else? dave
