  1. price looks about right to me, having been a buyer in the last few months. Good luck with the amg, nice choice
  2. to be fair mine does change gear when i don't want it to, gentle throttle increase on a motorway for example and itll drop 8 to 6 which I'm sure is the most efficient but it doesn't feel right, as the driver i didn't want it to change gear. But that's what auto boxes do, i could always use it in manual. Over time one challenge is to learn how hard you can press the go pedal and not kickdown...
  3. posted this before but in only driving one today as i saw one on the road a few months back and suddenly remembered it existed. I was close to an evora at the time as they are just falling to thirty grand. Instead for a lot less than that i got a five litre v8 and a boot! (evora boot is laughable as its mainly engine). Happy with the choice so far, unlucky puncture aside its been great.
  4. I'm not sure other road users have a clue what it is. An m3 owner defo did a double take last week though
  5. TYPO. Bloody mobiles. Would need to be imported, not never need...
  6. my chap is looking into availability and should email me later. He also said they would never need to be imported but made valid point that it is way too warm for them at the moment, down south anyway. Ill let you know what he says.
  7. insurance and tax is more or less th tyres... Perhaps i just need to get summer tyres and if the forecast is bad take one of the other cars... Be odd though taking an Elise out in snow and leaving the saloon car at home!
  8. had one last google and found a supplier that says they have the right size michelin P4 (not the P3 which that other site didnt rate), full set not fitted £1089. Oh I dont know anymore, do I bother? :> D
  9. just spent / wasted half an hour if not more whizzing around websites and am finding the rears (255/35/19) fairly easy to get but the fronts (225/40/19) harder if you dont fancy the bridgestones and dont want pirelli run flats (as I think they'll make the ride harsh to be honest). For those who didnt realise I've only three wheels on my wagon at the moment as I had a nearside rear puncture over the weekend which totalled the tyre. So whilst I wasnt going to get winters (as our two other cars have them) I might as well since I've got to buy two new rears anyway. (I wouldnt run a new and an old on the same axle) Hmmm.
  10. Interesting comments about the bridgestones here too http://wintertyrereviews.co.uk/bridgestone-blizzak-lm25/
  11. having got a puncture which totalled the nearside rear tyre today i shall shop about for some winters this week. Id need two new rears anyway as other is 50% worn and i wont run different wear tyres like that. Ho hum , its only money!
  12. ouch. But doesn't sound wrong for new ones to me. Are they storing the summer ones?
  13. i like the nsx comparison, although the senna connection helps. I considered one before my elise but didn't as i wanted to track it. I heard somewhere else a c63 brake disk is 899 from merc. Ouch.
  14. I've got three sets of rims for the Elise, garage looks like kwik fit! Summer, winter and track. The family barge just has winter or summer tyres and we swap them over on the same rims. Not sure on isf, as the Elise winters are one season old so its a large expense to get another set. Or maybe sell the Elise ones...
  15. the maths needs one less variable to make sense! Whichever way you spin it, the limited numbers ensures an unusual situation. Big engine and high tax and low mpg (compared to a modern oil burning saloon) count against. Rarity and build quality (hopefully) count for. My guess is in a few years decent FMSH cars will start to harden. lets hope so!
  16. I think theyll keep falling if only due to perceived running cost and lack of isf awareness for Jo public. There isn't any car out there, proper royalty aside, that doesn't fall in value. Not at five years old. Ignore the depreciation and enjoy driving it. Cars are a rubbish investment. but you cant drive a stocks n shares portfolio!

  18. I've used the car quite a bit in the last week with a trip from Kent to Yorkshire as well as a number of smaller trips around Kent. One thing I've noticed is that cars in front seem to get out of the way on the motorway. I'm not a tailgater at all, I leave a good gap but even so they seem to move quite quickly when I come up. I wonder if the car has quite a presence in the rear view mirror what with that bloody big bonnet bulge. I used a hand car wash - I wouldnt normally but I was on the way to a client and the car was filthy after 400 miles the previous couple of days - and they were intrigued as to what it was. Interestng really as I'm used to it in the Lotus but you tend to get "nice car, how fast is it?" in the lotus (whereas the correct question should be 'how much does it weigh?'). The ISF just got curious glances as people saw the bulges and wheels and wondered what it was. Also when you stop after a decent run and open the drivers door, you can feel the heat from the engine wafting in the door. Never noticed that on any other car before. One query you may be able to help with, save me looking for it in the manual. The rear doors remain locked when I get out the car. Any idea how to get them to unlock automatically? Dave
  19. Steve, potential life saver on the wheels. Thank you. That's what so darn great about owners clubs. wonder if the tyres are unidirectional?
  20. PS. The plate isnt mine, it'll go to a 58 plate when DVLA do their thing. I prefer that, as I want the car to be as low profile as it can be considering what's under the bonnet. Had a good thrash on some roads I know fairly late on Monday night and it was good fun. It didnt always change down (non sport mode) when I flicked the paddle so that is something I'll have to learn and once or twice it changed gear mid corner when I wasnt expecting (again not sport mode, this time in D) Darn fast thing though. Great fun.
  21. At last, some photos now I know there is a 'more options' button to click! Getting old, technology is starting to defeat me.
