  1. I wanted mine to be as anonymous as possible so dropped a v8 xxx plate that was on it when I got it for a standard dvla xx58xxx. however as I'm a bit sad and want people to think I can afford a nice car (I'm partly joking) the 58 annoys me as it sounds old! my black lotus has xx08JPS as the plate which gets the nod from those in the know...
  2. wish id seen this thread before. Sidcup did my 60 for 650, price matching a quote from woodfood where Pete had let me use his name. I bet they've picked up the trend on their data and told the stealers to stop it. mine was a full fat 60k with nothing left off as it was my first service and I wanted it done properly. Mind you the final bill was way in xs of 650 after the tyres and rattle investigation. Its booked back in for more investigation in November....
  3. only the Germans do the 155thing, Japanese cars don't tend to follow that rule. It was one of the marketing things used by Lexus at launch. I'm sure evo had some videos online too but I cant see them anymore. it was evo's reviews at the time that, when I saw one on the road 18m ago made me want to buy one. Six months later I did... Its pretty cool to have been contacted by evo. Did they take any photos of your car? Maybe offer it to them for a group test? The magazine now includes older cars much more often...
  4. excellent. As an evo subscriber I await the issue with excitement. Evo ran one for a while too...
  5. page 5, exclusion 4. In car entertainment system. Clear as a bell. this is for a 6 year old car, don't know if that matters...
  6. I am certain the policy wording excludes it. I'll check it later if I remember...
  7. if you've never tried winters then you won't believe them. Even with snow on the ground your car behaves as normal. Everyone else is stuck fast but you'll be fine. As long as you aren't stuck behind them mind. winter before last our family shed got us home in terrible conditions that left even Quattros stuck.
  8. yes. Local mobile Tyre man comes round and changes them on the wife's shed too. I used to store them myself but this year said Tyre man is doing so for a bit of cash in hand.
  9. agreed. Use a tom tom instead, with camera alerts. But the screen controls the radio, ac, reversing camera...
  10. and if it goes wrong then it goes wrong. And the ICE isn't covered anyway which I'm told is a known weak link... If its still moving I'll just px it for something else and pass the trouble to the garage, whilst telling everyone on here to stay clear!
  11. I'm tempted to keep the money in the bank. I have another car if it breaks down. Famous last words maybe. Life is such a gamble eh?
  12. 500 quid is a bargain folks. Don't forget how much "fun" all the torque will be when the temperature drops. I've got some already....
  13. talking of warranty, Lexus flogging two years for 795 (or maybe 745?) at the moment. Like all insurance its hard to know if its good value.... What's the consensus. Btw mine is out of warranty yet they are happy to offer it...
  14. at my service last week they failed to identify the noise. They thought it was the jack in the boot following a puncture but its still doing it. More investigation needed... Service cost £1300 despite forum based discount on the base 60,000miles. Chuck in two front tyres, air con refresh and looking for a rattle and it soon adds up. front tyres have more grip too, and maybe a bit more steering feel. Which you'd expect...
  15. its something towards the rear, exhaust bracket maybe. Can only hear at very low speed, such as parking. Much quicker than walking pace and can't hear it. 60k service, new front tyres and a geo. Even with Peter 's woodfood discount that lot will be a grand or more. Oh well!
  16. good luck to the OP in your search. As for the famed reliability I await the diagnosis of my knocking noise when I have my service done on Tuesday. But I can assure you the v8 is worth every penny you'll pay when you buy an isf.
  17. on phone so can someone copy and paste this for me? 2008/58 xx58 wns, 52,000miles (8/14), Dave lamb, greenhithe, kent, no modifications.
  18. welcome. Enjoy the car and the noise and the effortless journey to licence losing speeds!
  19. and here is my dad at goodwood in his c7...my in the passenger seat. Very lucky we went to the inside of the track... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXtcpPhX1vg
  20. that's goodwood isn't it? No room for error there either.... And very fast. Ive driven it twice, and was slower than a snail...
  21. thatll polish out easy enough. Smile. can happen on a roundabout or motorway any time. There is an argument that says some track time might prevent an accident. He was probably time trialing or something as he has numbers. On a track you drive as fast as you want, not to beat someone else.
  22. reis.co.uk but there are quite a few schemes around, certainly for caterhams and lotuses etc. im sure they would offer terms for such a specialist car as our isf. reis were not competitive for me for the Lexus but i had no ncb, as it was an additional car. Might be better this year, shall find out soon enough.
  23. you might want to look into track day insurance which is peace of mind. I used to use moris.co.uk before getting a policy which includes it as part of the normal terms... But accidents are rare, just relax and enjoy the fun
  24. never had a problem on msv days. But there will be some fast stuff and experienced drivers so you'll need to pay attention to your mirrors. everyone has a first time. Not everyone has a first time with a five litre v8 to play with. Mine was a fiesta xr2!
