That's a good price for Magnatec which is what I use. Wow ECP have increased the Mangnatec 4lt from £28 to £39. Normally I would get 2 x 4lt then 30% off for just under £50. I wonder if the oil would still be the same as the new A5 can says start stop technology? I found that the Edge created unwanted engine sounds on mine so stuck to Magantec, plus Newbie did a good write up and follow up while back which was interesting.

These are the original alloys! Will these corrode and start to flake off? They were notoriously famous for this fault so they changed the style to slightly curved on the face lift model which I think had the same issue. -
Hi I have the same issue where it seems like birds chirping. Had my IS250 do this since a front brake pad change and its now been about three months. Dont know what it is but its noticeable and really ****** me off now, however I know its to do with breaks as when I apply the brake the noise stops. Maybe its to do with not having front brake pad shims? Does anyone know what the part number for the front and rear shims are as its cheaper in the US but they need part number to verify it will fit the UK models. This is the item for front: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252126954582?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Thank you

I use Denso form Euro Car Parts all day long and have been for past three years. They are perfect and are flat blade but Hybrid. What this means is that like the OEM the wiper arm has two points where it is flexible so you get a clean streak every time and no noise. Today ECP have 31% off - http://www.eurocarparts.com/wiper-blade Will be around £17 for the pair. Bosch are not great! -
Extreme tyre wear

That's strange, as I have had a pair of continental contact 5 on the rear since I bought the car. Recently changed my alloy wheels with new one that came with tyres. Even after 3 and a half years the tyres were in very good condition and managed to sell them. See the picture -
Don't need tyres myself but just looking around and have found a few online places that do tyres and have fitting partners near you: nationals, Asda, mytyres etc etc. would anyone consider budget tyres for all conrners? Such as Asda do RouteWay Velo City, others do Riken etc etc. I guess some might be good? some have good ratings too! - just curious.

Update: So this smell was killing me not knowing what or where it was coming from and how. Looked everywhere but could not locate it so booked the car with the dealer for a few days time, however the smell has completely gone away and all is sweet as a nut. Its so strange how it just appeared and then disappeared! I am so glad its gone :) It could have been a plastic bag or something who knows.

Hi Ahmed, have you tried Black Circles? I use them all the time and have been great, you tap in your reg, get a list of tyres, choose then one you want, choose where you want them fitted all in the price. I think they are owned by Tesco so you get clubcard points too. Once you place the order you get an account manager call you to take you through the whole process and to make sure you dont have any issues with the fitter (partner) - Try them you never know you might get a good deal. http://www.blackcircles.com/

Hi Linas, the smell is still very strong and just came home after a short drive, the smell is noticable while stationary with Windows open. That area in the picture is where the smell is coming from. I thought it might be leads but checked as much as I could and can't see anything obvious however there are a few cables in that area. dont know if I would be causing more problem driving the car, but feels normal and drives smooth. one thing I noticed with the engine cover off and while revving. There is a 2 second lag which makes a air out noise before the engine revs.....like releasing gas or something. Don't know if this normal.

The smell is more from the engine than the wheels or tyres as I checked that first being the last thing I changed on the car. I have not topped up the oil as the car had service 2 or 3 months ago. I will check this evening and inspect further under the bonnet, maybe leave it running. Someone did say about plastic carrier bag so will look under to see if anything is stuck. There is no funny noises by the way.

Hi Madasahetter, yes the tyres are all the same brand and size is all as should be, plus after the tyre change I took for a spin and all normal. Battery should be good as only had it like 1.5 years new from Lexus. I will check the belts this evening. Is this something I can do and see or does a mechanic need to do it?

Hi All I have a really bad burning smell coming from the engine of my car IS250 2006. I recently changed all for wheels (old ones were corroded) which came with good tyres. Yesterday I drove the car from morning and parked up a few times but there was no smell. Later in the evening I drove the car with in sports mode and used the flaps to give it some for about 10 seconds at lights (first time i did this by the way - I have kids with me so never dream of it) When I parked up there was a very bad burning rubber/plastic smell, I just assumed it must be the breaks from the pulling. However later when I picked my kids up, drove home 3 miles - I parked the car and the smell was very bad so I quickly checked all the wheels to see if they were hot or if the smell was coming from them as I changed the wheel in the day before. The wheels were not hot but the front passenger one had a bit of smell but not hot. I opened up the bonnet and the smell was coming from the engine near passenger side. Any ideas what it could be? Last things i did: Washed and Waxed the car, changed the wheels went for test drive everything normal. Evening 10 seconds in sports mode. Have I damaged something?
