  1. Hi All, Still loving my Lexus IS250 Auto....but not loving the fuel consumption!!! I drive in London and do short journeys every other day. Say 5-10 mile each, on occassions I would to the shopping centre trip around 30 miles each way. So mostly short journeys. I have upgrdaed to K&N filter, used BG44K, and for last two months or so have used AR6200 at every fill, but have not noticed any improvement. This weekend I put in 30l Liters of fuel and the computer said 228 miles distance and 21 MPG, 24 MPG Average Tank. Its now Tuesday and the compueter is saying around 112 miles distance but I have not driven 100 miles in the last few days as I only drove the car after work for again short journeys. I have four good tyres - 2 x front Dunlop Sport Maxx RT and 2 x rear Continenat Sport3 What am I doing wrong and is there any way I can improve my MPG? Dont know if this is related but the car feels heavy to move, i.e feels like something holding it slightly when started for first time, but boy does it move once I am at the lights :) I have checked all calipers and nothing is sticking. I spend around £40 per week for not doing much driving at all - If it carries on like this then sadly I will have to sell my baby which I really dont want to do :( Any tips please - Thank you
  2. For £7,500 I would say it's good...it's not SE-L bit looks like has a few extra features like sunroof and parking sensors
  3. I used some of the pink Lexus grease which Newbie recommended. Will see what happens in a few months. Anyways ceratec is easy to get hold of at Eurocarparts and very good value
  4. Ahmed...How was the service at Lexus Woodford?? How much did you pay and what did they do? Thank you as I am due for one in few months
  5. Ahmed, try blackcircle.co.uk i got two Dunlop Sportmaxx RT tyres fitted for £208. Very good and super silent tyres - Dont go for budget tyres you will regret it later - I did and there was a thread few months ago....my whole ride experience was effected - Never again!!!!
  6. Hi everyone, thank you for all your help!! I changed my first ever disc and pads!!!! It took me about two hours but next time it should take me about 1.5 hours. This video is good I found; https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=LG3H19LD5O0 I have greased all the pins as advised so fingers crossed. I put the disc on straight as it came from lexus..is that correct or should I have wiped it with any chemicals? (A friend told me they have a coating) anyways too late now. Also does anyone know where to buy the brake shims from as I have one missing...and where to buy those flimsy clips. Thanks you Newbie, Allan and all!!! Feels great to do the jobs myself and great satisfaction..unbelievable
  7. Anyone know where I can buy those flimsy anti squeal pins that go in between the caliper and brake pads on the rear. Mine have been botched by previous owner or mechanic!!!!!
  8. Allan they are £70 at Lexus Edingburugh throu their ebay store. You need to email Laurie and he will list it and then email ebay item number. Nice service and next day delivery. This is the first time something big has happened to my Lexus...Allan once fixed will it happen again as I don't believe this happens with BMW or Audi
  9. Allan the mech said the calipers should be fine otherwise I would get heat and it would also be very stiff to drive. I will receive my disc, pads and grease tomorrow and will be attempting to change, service and bleed my entire brake system. I really do hope that the calipers are fine. One questions thou...how comes lexus sell calipers for £70 while there are others on ebay for like £250-£300
  10. Hi Newbie, What brake fluid did you use? is this okay for IS250: FMVSS 116 DOT 4 - SAE 1703 - ISO 4925 http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-accessories/engine-oils-and-car-fluids/auxiliary-fluids/brake-fluid/?524770271&0&cc5_179 Thank you
  11. Hi Everyone.... If you need calipers then Lexus Edingburugh are the best price at only £70. You will find they have a Ebay store as well. They do Slider Pins for £12 each (you will need 2)
  12. Newbie..my car has the solid rear disc so I have placed an order for that. I know there is two types of disc and each has a different caliper too. Thanks
  13. Allan, your correct it's the solid disc. Some do have the vented ones which I believe is bigger in size too. Will be placing the order tomorrow morning, Lexus Edingburugh have good prices delivered, also they do the caliper slider lube for £15. Sheffield Lexus is best prices for calipers. All available on Ebay.
  14. Hhhmm....Solid or Vented rear disc? Will have to check when I go home tonight.
  15. Thanks Allan. Seen the caliper for £99 in Lexus Sheffield so this is one watch list. Took the car for a drive on the A12 able to hit 50-60mph. Came back home. Inspected all the wheels and they where all cold and ok heat whatsoever. I hope that I do t have a big caliper change bill. Fingers X Will let you guys know how I get on and what the outcome is. Thanks for all your help....
  16. Thanks I have enquired about the lube at edinburugh as they are the cheapest for the disc, mind you Birmingham ain't that bad either with their price.
  17. I am not getting any heat from that particular wheel nor am I getting any heat from anymore the wheels so I do hope that I am in time for just a caliper service and lubing rather than a replacement. Will double check thou, shame the weather is not allowing me to do much here in London
  18. Hi Newbie...the weather let me down this weekend. However I did see that my rear driverside is gone. I had new pads on about 2 months ago. This is possible where the whoop whoop whoop noise is coming from. I have attached photos. So the plan is now to buy new disc and pads from Lexus Edingburugh Ebay. I will then attempt to do everything together...I suspect that the rear caliper must be the problem but making me to believe it's the front drivers side.
  19. Haha!! I guess I will just start early in the morning and just take my time...also its an excuss not to hit the shopping mall with wifey!! (usual for saturdays) So all my tools have arrived (wrench, rachet sets), need to get the lube tomorrow (pagid ceratec) and then hope its not raining I would say my automotive DIY skills is around 3-4 on a scale of 1-10...remember when I installed the folding mirrors with Exdee. Man he was so calm and relaxed and taking his time step by step...while I just ripped through the door couldnt wait to get it working and rushing..LOL
  20. Cool, wont use the copper grease then. Pagid Ceratec is on sale at eurocarparts for £2.62, so will get that. Exdee, did you use it ion the slider pins aswell? Thanks Guys on a scale of 1-10 how hard is lubing the caliper slider pins 10 being the hardest
  21. I will be using CarLube copper grease. Got off ebay http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/170665120477?nav=SEARCH To be honest I have never done anything like this before but really want to give it a go as I really want to do small bits and possibly service my one car. So Newbie am I right that to grease the slide pins I only need to remove and access the caliper and no need to remove the carrier.
  22. Thanks I was going to buy a one man kit from halfords for £5 http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&productId=204703&categoryId=255216&langId=-1
  23. Thanks Newbie...I will use your guide on removing calipers and grease slide pins this weekend. Just another question on bleeding brakes...do you leave the reservoir cap on or take it off whole bleeding. Thanks
  24. Lol, I am a bit confused as well. Yes my problem is at front making click click click from front rightside when going right.
