E class handles much better than GS. But i would go for 450h with my eyes closed. -
Cheers for that, good to know Lexus modified gearboxes for GS430. Alex i would not keep this car for long if i were You.. It will be costly adventure to put this right.

If You are concerned about the fuel economy then You're in the wrong forum. Mk3 GS300 has better engine and beats IS in the looks department, too.

Brake Disc's?

I have always used cheap Ebay brake discs with mintex pads on my GS430. Never had any problems. -
Before sending the amp off for repair, i removed the door speakers and the subwoofer today. Seems all the ML speakers suffer the same problem with age: cone edges separate and this is what causing the noise. Silicone repair is in progress, but can anyone recommend a good replacement for front door speakers and the sub?

Comparing entry level S class with LS400 :D Saying that, W140 S600 indeed was a remarkable piece of engineering back in a day.

Colin are You sure about difference? I think the gearboxes are exactly the same 5 speed on both JZS160/UZS160

Have You considered 1998-2000 LS400? Alas if You are concerned about the fuel cost, then buying an old Lexus is not probably a very good idea for You :D Having owned IS200, Mk I GS300, GS430, LS400, LS430 i find the fuel economy roughly the same on all of them.

I switched the ignition on and sound was all good. Never got round taking off door cards... this morning it took it for a drive and crackling is back :outforcount: Thanks cruisermark i will give them a ring after holidays. Can anyone confirm is that the same amplifier as in the pre-facelift models 2001-2003?

Speakers in my LS430 crackling badly. When i got the car last week i tought passenger door speaker and sub need fixing or probably replacing. However changing balance left-right front-back sound is terrible unless i keep the volume very low. Then yesterday i decided to go in with the tools, take the door cards off. Before commencing work, i turned the ignition on and the sound was awesome from all speakers? Has anyone had similar problems? If it's defective amp, can You recommend replacement or repair shop? Thank You Mel

I just sold my LS400 last week and bought the 430. I miss it already. True japanese Luxury musclecar Improved steering and suspension, endless list of extras and gadgets in 430 cannot outweight the looks, style and reliability of the well maintained 400 with black leather interior..

2004 Premium Pack (whatever that means). I could not find one same condition, price and colour with black leather, but it's pretty damn close to dream car.
