  1. On the topic of servicing, I recently had my GS300h serviced with Lexus. Prior to the service I received an email detailing things spotted previously that I may wish to have put right. One of these was the replacement of a weeping shock absorber for (I think) £540. After the service the workshop guy was going through everything and reminded me of the shock absorber. I said "I am pretty sure that I had one of these replaced (on a previous Lexus) under warranty". He said "Oh yes, when it gets bad enough we will replace it". So be careful what you volunteer to pay for.
  2. I realise that we are going a bit off topic but it seems that Lexus / Toyota are backtracking on the statement that Colin posted on 16th March. That is indeed good news for those of us with the GS h.
  3. Whilst one or two on this page may own an RX450h there is a seperate Forum page for the RX. (This page has been slightly mistitled to say "Lexus 450h" instead of "Lexus GS 450h"). You may get more replies, and faster, over on that page. Good luck with your enquiries.
  4. I have only done around 4,000 miles. i will have to contact my local dealer ready for the next time I am passing. Thanks
  5. The moment my 2018 GS reached 20,000 mile I got a message on the small screen on the dashboard saying "Oil Maintenance Required" and now every time I turn the vehicle on I get the same message on the screen. I have only had the vehicle nine months and the service book confirms that it was serviced before I picked it up from the Lexus dealer. I have gone into the big screen and Settings / Vehicle / Maintenance and put in a "reminder" date and mileage for later than when the next service is due for both "Oil" and "Service" but still I get the message on startup. How do I remove it, as the car is telling me more than enough each time I turn it on? Thanks in advance. Mike
  6. Having just returned from a 1,000 mile round trip from Gloucester to Scotland, including the lumpy bits, in my 2018 GS300h Luxury I was impressed to average over 50mpg for the trip. Even going 1 mile down the road and back for the weekly shop I am getting 30mpg, even after a cold start. I do tend to use Eco though, rather than the other two modes.
  7. If you are looking for a "fair bit of poke" then you may wish to take a look at the GS450h as well, as they have enormous poke and there is probably more of those to choose from, and its a hybrid (I don't think the GS 300's became hybrid until 2012) If you are looking for DAB radio then these became standard on the 2010 facelift for the GS450h. I don't know about the GS300. Hopefully someone else can help with your other queries. Mike
  8. Yes, once home we tried a selection of tins before finding that an old Tate & Lyle treacle tin did the job perfectly. Thanks for all the replies.
  9. The reason that one of the keys was in the boot was that we had just travelled 180 miles to collect the car from the dealer and as we have family in the area we were also visiting them for a few days. There is no general desire to be locking the keys in the boot it was simply that which alerted me to the fact that the faraday pouches were suddenly not working. I am now looking for an effective tin box to store the keys in whilst at home.
  10. Having just traded my 11 plate GS450h for an 18 plate GS300h I have noticed an issue with locking. The faraday cages that worked so well at blocking the signal from the key to the car now have no effect, even to the point where the car would not lock whilst a key was in a faraday cage, in a suitcase, in the boot. Having tried two different keys in two different faraday pouches, the car ignored the pouches. Any ideas or suggestions? ps, it is nice having a much larger boot.
  11. I made similar enquires some years ago when I was in the same position, though I didn't actually get one. I remember talking to someone in Malvern who could do it, though I cannot remember the price.
  12. Another way to bring down the cost of a Lexus service is to become a Gold member of this site, saving 15% on all Lexus costs, or around £94 on a major service alone.
  13. Oh the button is there, it is just hard to find. You might need to get on your hands and knees with a mirror to find it.
  14. Thanks for your review, I will be looking to go from en 3 to Gen 4 in the next year and I can now do it without any worries.
  15. Thanks for that, exactly what I was looking for and it answers my questions.
