  1. Yes Joe, this is the one lexuschap had for sale I remember the number plate very well and I am shocked to see the 'buy it now' price for £3500!! lexuschap had it for £1500 and previously I think another member on here said it was for sale at £999 with another dealer....
  2. Will be making a contribution here - with photos and details as my MK3 had rust issues. Think it will be of great benefit to all of you in the community :outforcount:
  3. David, that looks good and wonder if the private plate comes with it....
  4. Some good suggestions there fellas.....sticking with my leased 'Benz for the time being as the daily hack. Missing the waftiness of the LS for trips out though.
  5. Phil, that is what I thought - too much money. Headlight plastics were also fogging over, whole car inside needed an intensive valet. Underbody looked ok, some surface rust although nothing to be too concerned with - most of the underside as far as I could see retained the plastic/foam shrouds and none were out of place, damaged or missing. Oil was relatively clean, no mayonnaise and no smell of burnt. Generally, most of the other fluids were low and I had a good look around the engine bay with a high intensity torch and could not see any leaks.
  6. Very true Mike, pictures speak more than a thousand words in this case
  7. Hi Guys, went to see this 2001 LS430 today - Y908 PTF, the seller said that a few people had been along to view - anybody on here or have you owned this car? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201503031382009?radius=1500&postcode=pe113af&channel=cars&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&model=ls_430&quicksearch=true&page=1&sort=default&make=lexus&search-target=usedcars&logcode=p On looking through the documentation, I saw an ebay printout of this car with Lexuschap as the seller. Without judgement, these were my observations about the condition of the car: Front bumper had been very poorly resprayed - accident damage? Passenger wing mirror housing cracked/split Steering wheel motor moves up and down - no telescopic action OSR Passenger window with white patch Bonnet surrounding grill heavily stonechipped Aircon requires regas? Pulls to the left if you release the steering wheel momentarily Alloys need a good refurb Not a bad drive otherwise and all the other electrical bits worked properly. It was off road between 2005 - 2013 and I have checked this out on the DVLA MOT history web page and so this is corroborated along with the mileage.
  8. A friend of mine is a trimmer so a small split in the seat would be easy for him to repair....also seen this on autotrader and looks quite tidy, anyone been to see it or come across it before? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201503031382009?radius=1500&make=lexus&search-target=usedcars&quicksearch=true&model=ls_430&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&sort=default&channel=cars&page=1&postcode=pe113af&logcode=p
  9. The bordeaux red LS400 DHP by the aforementioned 'Lexuschap' looks OK, anyone been to see it? Sold my MK3, so now 'sans' Lexus :-(
  10. This one looks nice, what do you think it is worth? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-LS400-MK4-LOW-MILEAGE-FANTASTIC-CONDITION-FSH-/231640216778?hash=item35eed534ca
  11. Hi Rob, I have had my LS for two years this year....you had an Omega? shhhh, don't really reveal this to too many people - I secretly love the Omega's predecessor which if you remember was the Senator 3.0 24 valve and these were very popular with the old bill as a pursuit vehicle. The chip cutter grill was an acquired taste though :outforcount:
  12. Hi everyone, sadly, I have come to a decision to sell my LS400 as I simply do not have the time or facilities to give her what she deserves. If anyone on here would like to take her on, then please pm me. :( If I get time this week, I will post a full advert on here.... Jeremy
  13. Rob - 270 miles is quite a way....I do 194 miles round trip to Japex, so not too bad. Japex will save you money, they don't charge the earth for labour, go way way beyond what many garages do and they are family run and owned. The time/cost ratio is easily worthit in my humble opinion. Just for you 'ahhhhh poor old boy' :outforcount:
  14. Rob, a very big welcome to the LOC. I live in Lincs too and think nothing of driving my LS400 down to Japex in Kings Langley - they specialise in Japanese cars and they know the LS range very well.
  15. Hey Guys, thanks for all your input on this - I am really grateful and it once again goes to show you the power of being involved in an active community for these cars. Sharing of knowledge, thought process, opinions, learning and experience all helps with personal development. I will keep you all posted on what happens with my poor old LS, whatever the outcome. Even had a look on autotrader and there are a few reasonable looking '400s out there if the worst comes to the worst. Cheers, Jeremy
  16. Hey guys, have been reading this post with a great deal of interest - my NSR inner wheel arch is crumbling, there are now a few holes plus the subframe is in a poor state. The OSR rear wheel arch is not as bad although will still need work. The subframe was going to be addressed this year and never for one moment did I think that the wheel arches were in such poor condition. Question is, can this be repaired/welded effectively or should I just cut my losses? car has done 86k miles, generally good panels, mint interior and mechanically strong (serviced by Japex). What do you all think?
  17. It was all down to your recommendation Brian - thank you, I am most grateful. Yes I agree also, the best garage I have used in my motoring life.
  18. Hi everyone, hope you are all enjoying the sun and going out for a drive with the sunroof open :-) lovely day for it don't you think? After 4 months off road, my LS is now back and just as good as ever after Japex fitted new rear shocks and springs, anti squeal brake shim set, sorted out an ABS problem and then passed the MOT. A big thank you to Stuart and his team/family who do an exemplary job of looking after my '400 and I am always totally amazed by the level of knowledge, attention to detail and care that Stuart demonstrates to his customers. If any of you need someone to look after your LS and don't mind a wee drive, then go to Japex. There is also a nice deli/cafe there called 'Dalling and Co' on the high street with seating outside and home made cakes for you to enjoy - perfect for weather like this.... Takes me just under two hours to get to Kings Langley at a gentle cruising pace and do you know what? I'd almost forgotten what it is like to drive a car that is so blissfully serene - beats the Merc any day of the week :-) ENJOY
  19. Hi Lloyd, I think there are a few posts on here about clear indicators, there was a mention that these could be purchased from ebay in the states?
  20. Totally with you on that Graham - we are spoilt, nothing beats any LS for luxury wafting :outforcount:
  21. £2200 for a door card sans electrics is bonkers......mind you I am about to have two new springs, shocks, shock boots, anti squeal brake shim kit plus ABS sensor clean/replacement done all KYB/Lexus parts. Worthit to keep the car as original as can be and working as it should. Being resourceful I have saved many hundreds of pounds over what I would have paid a 'stealer' for the privilege of supply and fit. Graham - wonder what it would cost to 'self-build' your LS
  22. Graham, you are bang on - there are a number of relays according to the US Lexus club site and one of the posters on there said that rather than guessing and making assumptions about what the problem is, you just need to find someone with a multimeter who know's what they are doing....diagnosis within 30 mins tops.
