Thank you for all your helpful replies. I shall keep the AC on from now on
Bizarrely, I went out yesterday when it was even hotter than Sunday and the AC worked fine. Over the next couple of weeks I shall see if I can re-enact the not-working situation. I have entertained the idea that it may have been user error on Sunday after a 5+ hour cycle race in the Peak District. I may even read the user manual
I discovered yesterday my RC-F air-con is not blowing cold. I'm wondering if this could be fault and how would I check.
Or is it the re-gas that every dealer seems to push at each visit? Is 6 years with relatively little AC use reasonable for it to disappear?
Thanks for your thoughts / experiences
V Power all the way. I reckon it improves fuel economy in the Lexus V8s by 5% and costs only 6% more, so I tell myself it is virtually free extra power and free cleaning.
Of course this could all be the placebo effect
I'm on the hunt to know the roof weight capacity so that i can buy roof bars before buying kayaks, unfortunately the car didn't come with a manual and it's not available on the Lexus site, could you point me in the right direction please?
We used Thule bars on my IS-F and wife's IS220D. The weight is taken by the structure around the doors and we have had 3 large mountain bikes on top many times with no problems. I think I still have the bars in the garage if you are interested
It is not just performance; there is the noise too, and the quiet satisfaction that comes from knowing you have one of the last N/A V8s on the road.
I can easily do 380 miles on a long run, with a best of 420. What range does the 300h give?
Go on do it; you know you want to
I have a vague memory of hearing on here about one ISF having a transmission problem. The thread may still exist. One reported fault in 12 years is exceptional though.
An interesting moral dilemma indeed. Is one colluding with widely adopted practice or taking cynical advantage of a loophole....
I have had several salesmen actively suggest this. I've never taken them up on it, simply because I hate the idea of finance schemes.
That sound grim Amit, I hope nobody was hurt.
Can you let the forum know the details of your ISF in case it turns up later on as a repaired write off.
Thanks
MNMJ
I'd say go with the facelift if its in budget.
If you do high mileage, then you will certainly save a packet on fuel with the hybrid. But with very low depreciation on the F cars, the overall running costs may not be that different, especially with a little man-maths
Welcome to the forum Himesh
If its a bit more 'punch' you are after, then maybe try the V8 option?
There is one that is only a slight budget stretch and not far off in Sheffield: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202106193976212?make=LEXUS&model=RC F&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&include-delivery-option=on&advertising-location=at_cars&price-from=2000&sort=relevance&radius=1501&postcode=cw98th&page=1
It is the right colour too
If its Lexus Leicester you are dealing with, perhaps you could try theirs:

Good hunting

I was happily imagining another six years of ownership backed up by a cast-iron warranty
Now I may be looking elsewhere when my current 2-4-1 runs out in 12 months
LC warranties are scary....and have a read of the threads on the LC part of this forum. It seems they have a lot more quality and reliability issues than the F cars.
Or it could be most owners on there seem to have bought new, whilst most on here have bought slightly older cars with the teething troubles resolved?
I did this with both my IS-F and RC-F: Online stalking for many months, then leaping into action when the right car arrives at the right price. Lexus dealers also seem to raise and lower prices with little apparent reason. Of course, for this to work you need to be able to delay gratification; how were you with marshmallows as a kid?
There has been quite a lot of this posted on the ISF/RCF/GSF forum. I'm in a rush or I'd hunt the thread for you.
Mine squeals occasionally but then goes away for a long time. The brakes are fine and pass all inspections
