  1. Thanks for all the answers. I'm off to Lexus Chester today so will ask them the question too.
  2. It seems from the LC thread that their cars are vulnerable, and the RX seems to be a popular target. Anyone know if the RCF has e same issue? A warning sign is insurance costs rocketing, so I'm pensive about renewal in September
  3. Admiral Multicar for me £372, but then its not an import which I suspect will bump the premium
  4. I saw this article today, and I imagine Lexus are part of it. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/feb/08/toyota-cars-collecting-and-potentially-sharing-location-data-and-personal-information-choice-says Are there any experts out there who know if this is going on in the UK? Would GDPR regulations protect us? Also would my 2015 RCF be doing this on its own, or would it need a device like a smartphone to pass on the data? Or perhaps I need to order one of these:
  5. If you are on your own, then I'd suggest getting an automatic tag for autoroute tolls. On a return trip to the Alps I managed to kerb a wheel trying to get the left hand side of the car close enough to lean across and collect tickets or pay. I heard a neat summary from an expat that explained why the French are so keen on having lots of rules. It means they can feel good about themselves and their independent spirit when they break a law. They also get a thrill of righteous indignation when someone else breaks the same law.
  6. That's a good summary, with the Sonic Red looking more vibrant in a greater range of conditions. Both colours are spectacular under yellow lights at night time garages though.
  7. I had a mesa red ISF and now a sonic red RCF. They are different shades of red and I understand sonic red is a lot harder to match if repairs are needed; I recall being told it is a 5 step paint process...whatever that means.
  8. If they bring it to the UK, and it is a big if, this will be the first new Lexus that I've been seriously interested in since the RCF debut. The IS500 would have been a contender, but didn't come here of course.
  9. Absolutely lovely. I would be terrified to use it as the cost of repair doesn't bear thinking about. I wonder if insurance premiums reflect this?
  10. Are you sure it doesn't have ML? According to the official spec sheet, my RCF doesn't have it, but all the (many) speakers and the head unit are labelled Mark Levinson.
  11. I had 2 rides in Prius taxis this week, so I'm doing my bit.
  12. I bought mine from a Lexus dealer at 3 months old and about £11,500 under list. Apparently an old chap had bought it, driven it fewer than 1500 miles, decided he didn't like it, and traded it back in for an LS. I shudder to think what they gave him for a trade in price... This year I've bought an old Subaru Legacy as a 4WD winter car. More to keep salt off the RCF than mileage, but also to protect it from other winter hazards.
  13. Seems like many of us are fans of Japanese fast metal. Me too; with 5 Imprezas: 98 Turbo, 00 Turbo. 04 WRX Prodrive, 05 STi Prodrive. 2008 STi I then became a civilised grown up with the ISF then RCF. And now a Legacy Spec B as a winter car
  14. Hopefully the value of ours will creep back up now the supply has been cut. I hope so, as mine dropped £1440 in value in the last month according to autotrader...and its not moved out of the garage.
  15. I'm not sure that is correct. My 10 plate IS-F was pre facelift, which was built in 2009. Unless you mean personal imports, in which case I haven't a clue.
  16. Auctions give a clue about the market: RCF Carbon sold at auction through Collecting Cars. 71,000 miles 3 Nov. £21,750 winning bid, plus £1566 buyers fee (7.2%) on top = £23,316 https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2015-lexus-rc-f-500-carbon-edition It will be interesting to see if this arrives at a dealer.
  17. After 5 years with ISF and 8 with RCF, I can confirm that the ISF has usefully more space in the back. My road bike (large size for 6'4" bloke) fitted easily in the back of the ISF. I need to take pedals and saddle off to squeeze it in the RCF. Kids also fit better in the ISF
  18. Nothing German for me, except maybe a E46 CSL The flat 4s and 6s from Subaru also have much appeal with the right exhaust set up
  19. I had one shock replaced a coupe of years back. Luckily it was picked up and covered just as my old extended warranty ran out, and before I had to switch to relax. It does make me concerned about how useful relax is, and how inappropriately named.
  20. Admiral's first offer on their multi car was 11% up on last year. From the stories I was fearing a lift of 25-40% If I get time, I'll see if I can do better, but I may only save £20-30 at best so it may not be worth the energy
  21. Very much this. A crazy 3 litre twin turbo like the Guilia QF would be acceptable though, maybe with mild hybrid to sneak past the regulators.
  22. Wherever you go, get up very early for a dawn drive. Enjoy empty roads and the best time for photography, then back to the B&B / Hotel for a full Scottish breakfast. Follow with a nice walk, pub lunch, afternoon nap, then a late afternoon drive or more booze depending on how long the pub-lunch was.
  23. Sorry about that.. it is hard keeping track of what people are up to
  24. Mne squealed for a while a few years back, but it stopped and I'd forgotten all about it. Maybe it is a phase they go thorough?
  25. And don't you have a Pz IV for proper cross country? If its not you, this might be a very confusing post..... Earlier this year I bought a winter car, so I can store the RCF in the garage and away from salty roads. Its a Subaru Legacy Spec B and is fantastic on twisty roads. It is something I considered when new, but bought a WRX STi instead.
