  1. I've seen this video ages ago, and it says one of the best, it's not the best lexus ever made, the best for me is the ls400

    245 50 17

Does anyone have pirelli 245 50 17 tyres they want to get rid off?
  4. Yeah I'm sure used nakamichi in the early ls400, but they wernt dhp
  5. Hiya, well, where do I start, I'll just tell you about the issues you get with the ls430, then you can make up your own mind. Gearbox failure, air suspension failure, vsv valve, speakers failure, cd player failure, rust on both front doors, rear air con stops working, its the kinda car that when you come out the house every morning, and before you even open the drivers door, you think to yourself, I wonder if every thing is working? There may be more faults, but I cant think now, it's too early. Lexus actually called me this week about an event they have on and that they will put £4000 towards a newer Lexus, my answer was this, " yes lexus is more reliable than bmtroubleyou, Mercedes etc, but the most reliable Lexus for me is the ls400, the newer Lexus's use so much tech, that things do go wrong and it gets expensive, I've also had gs430 mk2 sport, gs300, sc430, is300, ls430 and I have to say, none of them are as reliable as an ls400" he agreed.
  6. Hi Malc My advice to you having had 2 sc430's is that they are not that reliable as people make out. Yes they are more reliable than a bmtroubleyou, Audi and merc etc, but not the most reliable lexus. I've had 2, besides the engine, and a few misfires, it's not that reliable. But each to their own. Oh word of advice, never buy one from that dodgy dealer Rich Walker who calls himself lexusman in Gloucester, I'm sure there are others who have dealings with him and will tell you a few stories about him, hence why his website Lexusworld has been taken down
  7. I wouldnt sell it Paul, you will regret it, I've had an sc430, ls430, gs430 mk2 sport, gs300 mk3 and is300, none of them are as reliable and good to drive like an ls400. Took my ls400 into lextek 2 weeks ago to get drivebelt replaced, a customer there offered me 6k for it, I declined to sell it, a month ago someone offered me 5.5k for it, I wouldn't sell it. About 4 months ago I was in Nottingham, some guy with an rx300 stopped me and said he wants my ls400, he would give me the rx300 and 4k on top, I said no thank you. Its not about the money, although I could do with the money, I love the car, I'm glad it didnt sell when I put it on here, i wouldn't know what to get next. Nothing out there is as good as an ls400. Body wise shes about 80% good, but mechanically she is brilliant, I've looked after it.
  8. I have a 99 ls400, the steering motor on mine is very temperamental in autumn winter, but come spring and summer when the weather is hot, it works without an issue.
  9. Its every 100000 miles or 10 years, which ever comes first.
  10. You do know lexus dealer dont actually do body work. They have a contract with a local body shop that does the work for them.
  11. This is the same cat that was for sale by a guy Luton some time back, then someone at Lexusworld bought it and that dodgy dealer rich walker kept phrasing how good it was, but The bodywork I can tell you needs alot of attention, infact, i wouldnt bother with it.
  12. I'm not sure but all I'm going to do is advise of this. You may come across someone at the sc430 meeting or on lexus clubs or Ebay etc by the name of Rich Walker. He deals in sc430's, never buy one of him. He is a trader and a dodgy one at that.
  13. Looking at the mot, all you need is new suspension arms, and corrosion isnt serious, it should pass mot and then just get the corrosion treated
  14. That much corrosion at 60000 miles? I've got surface corrosion on mine, which has 111000 miles and I've used lanoguard on it, but I'm shocked that 60k there is that much corrosion on the car. Maybe because its just been parked up maybe?
  15. You got to remember, the car is over 20 years old, so will have some corrosion, but having said that, I wouldn't buy any car from that seller
  16. Cost £478. New bolts too as a couple broke They kept complementing the car on how nice it is and well looked aftered it is. A guy from another until came over to have a look at it too and liked it
  17. Shout out to lex tek, just got my car back, Dave fitted new cam cover gaskets, seals etc, all is now well. No more oil leaks.
  18. I only take it on long journeys with my daughter, we go up Scotland, pembrokeshire, devon, Cornwall etc, I hardly drive it locally, I prefer walking I love the car, i know the 2 issues are minor, but it just stresses me out, I'll have to get them done. Whenever there is an advisory on an mot, I always get it done.
  19. Thanks The car itself is near mint condition. It's a lovely, it was getting compliments even at the garage, advisories stress me out
  20. So took my ls400 for an mot yesterday, yes it passed but with 2 advisories, well 3 sorry. One was surface rust in 2 small places is coming back, so I'll deal with that, ns lower ball joint has very slight play, I can sort that out too, but also minor oil leak. Mot tester said he thinks it's from the valve cover gasket area, but I noticed this when it first started in August, when I had the oil and filter replaced. The mechanics split abit down the side, anyway, when I looked yesterday, yes it was slightly wet around the left sump area, but I couldnt see any oil leaking from the gasket area, nothing. But my question is, should I just get the gaskets replaced, they are like 22 years old and also, my car is on lpg, do you guys think lex tek will do it due to my car being on lpg or can anyone on here do it for me if I get the parts and I'll pay for labour too. I'm based in the west Midlands. The amount of money of spent on this car, rounds up to about £2000 in the past year and half, all suspension parts, and of course cambelt and water pump. I'm thinking I've had enough, but then I love the car. I'm trying to beat prostate cancer, but this kinda thing stresses me out. Thanks in advance
  21. It wont have anything to do with the lpg system fitted. If it runs rough sometimes and engine light was flashing, that's a misfire and most probably a coilpack issue. I had an sc430 with the same problem, on mine it was the 1 coilpack and 1 oil control valve.
  22. Sorry i they ain't that good. Not sure why I said they were good. I replaced mine for green stuff pads, no brake dust or squealing.
