  1. Try Adam's car shampoo. You know when you put alot of shampoos on your car then come to rinse it off but find most of it has dried up, well that doesn't happen with Adams shampoo
  2. I used to get Denso irridum sparkplugs from rockauto, all 8 for around £34 including delivery. But this year I thought I'd get all the parts from Lexus dealers here, 6 litres of oil, oil filter, washer, air filter, cabin filter, 8 irridum sparkplugs, all for £93, took it to my local garage, watched them do the service and was charged £30
  3. You could get oe filters from rockauto much cheaper. Toyota/Lexus use filters made by Denso and you can pick then up for around £5 to £8 from rockauto. Just checked, total cost of cabin filter including delivery £8.34
  4. That's for a mk2, the gentleman is looking at a mk3 Gs300. I've had 2 and they were brilliant. The only issue I had was one sticky caliper and wheels needed refurbishment and thats it. They were a very reliable cars.
  5. I've had 2 mk3 gs300 and no issues at all apart from 1 sticky calipers. Of course i use v power shell fuel which does help to keep the engine clean and running smooth..
  6. Google it and you'll see, they are always the number 1 most unreliable car in the world
  7. Can't believe he said the ls was good in its day and yet he drives the number 1 most unreliable car in the world
  8. This is why i would rather buy a car from a private individual with a good service history or Lexus dealers (if I can afford it, which i can't). The reason I wouldn't buy from other traders is because they have their own mot guy who will pass the mot no matter what, just so the trader can sell the car. I mean he must have known about the other 3 issues and still passed it and not even put it down as an advisory. At least he's giving you a full refund though.
  9. I was leaning towards the Gs450h, but after reading all this and problems other members have had, I think I'll forget about it. Mr Doofa, did you do any research before you bought the car? I only ask because reading some of the things on here about issues with the gs450h, I don't think I'd ever have one, unless the person I'm buying from, has had all the issues sorted
  10. Hi well I have a 2001 Lexus sc430 that has 183000 miles. It's been to Austria a few times last year that's reason for high mileage, but having said that, it's still drives smooth and quiet like a Lexus should. They only I can think have that go wrong and that's probably ball joints and shocks but that's just down to our roads and wear and tear. They all have cambelt, mine was replaced last year along with the water pump. If you go to a website called Lexus world.com, you can get more info from there as that forum is dedicated to the sc430.
  11. I had a 2001 ls430 some years ago, it the radiator replaced by Lexus Sheffield and cambelt etc, I did call Lexus Sheffield back then to ask why it had been replaced, the service manager Gary said it was a precaution as they are know to leak and it's best to replace the radiator at around 100000 miles Also that particular Ls430 has been on sale since February. He's just readvertised it
  12. I had a feeling it might be dodgy bidding
  13. A massive amount of damage would be a cat C, or Cat B or Cat A, Cat D I don't think will be that bad.
  14. Hi Cat D mean it was a write off, damaged and then repaired. The car you've put a link up off looks nice, but I wonder why it didn't sell the first time.
  15. That's been for sale for a long time and over priced for a cat D
  16. Ive heard you can repair it using bicycle repair kits.
  17. I remember I wanted to get the gearbox oil changed at Lexus dealers and they said it would be like a top up as you should never drain the whole lot at is can cause damage to the torque converter if that makes any sense.
  18. I actually have a friend who has been a Mercedes tech for years, he's always told me to stay away from Mercedes as they are money pits. His words, not mine and I think he's right too
  19. I do love the Ls400. I was going through a mid life crisis and bought an sc430, it's beautiful car, I've had it resprayed due to previous owner taking it to Austria and back so all mileage is motorway and it had stone chips and scratches, and so I got the whole car resprayed and changed ball joint that needed replacing and gave it a full service as I didn't get a service book with it, but it's nice mint now, but I'm still getting drawn to an ls400, I still love the ls400..especially a DHP version. They just look so mean and I think in my opinion the most Lexus ever made.
  20. So are we all in agreement that this maybe worth less than £100?
  21. I don't think we would know what to offer if we were interested in the car as it will need a lot of work to get it going again. I don't think we would want to offend the person who owns it, well I wouldn't like to offend the owner with a low low offer, just being honest. Body wide I could get cleaned up, mechanically it will cost over a grand I'd say to get it going again, aswell as the mentioned potential faults, the y section of the exhaust could be blowing too
  22. Yes I agree with you Malc, also due to it being parked up for so long brakes might and or calipers might be seized up too, so that may cost around £200 to £300
