i have a is 200 se with a miss fire, it comes up on the ecu reader with random miss fire is this a comon fault ? i have started by changing the spark plugs three where discoloured white and three where a browney black what does this mean?

the car is running lean which means not enough fuel is getting through, or too much air is getting to the system, does it run lumpy or is it just a misfire? have you tried swapping air mass sensors with a similar model theses tend to give a car a lumpy mis fire feel as they arnt giving the right signal to the ecu to put the correct amount of fuel in.

The three plugs discolured white sounds more like your using water or possibly a lean mixture although all six plugs would seem discoloured...(head gasket blown)...are you using any engine coolant ?...also check the exhaust when running for white smoke etc...i agree the first port of call is renewning the plugs..let us know how you get on...cheers
