  1. Totally agree with you Stu. The speed limit is there for a reason and should be stuck too. More so in a urban environment. What i mean by more so is there are times when it is safe to speed when safe to do so. Maybe on a motorway when the traffic flow is 80 - 90. Maybe in the dead of night on a quiet country road. And if you think that merc was bad. I was driving down the A49 on a busy day plodding along at 50 in a long line of cars and all of a sudden theres two Audis racing. and i mean racing. They were going nearly double the speed of the flow and in and out of cars like nothing ive seen before. Nearly forced me off the road. I called it in but dont think they were caught because the cop i saw a few miles up the road waiting was still there when i drove past Oh and letting them over take is a funny one, because most cars on the road dont have to power to over take doing 60 here
  2. I advise against Sainsbury's fuel. I used it for the whole time ive had my car so maybe 7 months because its most convenient and i like my nectar points. Ive recently switched to BP and noticed a smoother running engine. Maybe better MPG but cant tell for sure. Same nectar rewards at BP and double on ultimate
  3. lol i could list loads of BS ive seen in IS200 listings that have made me chuckle a few times
  4. Great info. didnt even think to check the manual! thanks alot
  5. Thanks! :) March. Im looking to buy a IS300 over there, but realistically dont know if ill be able to afford it initially. I would seriously think about taking it with me if they didnt drive on the wrong side of the road I just said to the wife, why not just keep it in UK for when we visit lol
  6. Just given mine a quick clean. Its due another polish i think, been about 3 months now but still looking pretty good. Picture not great sorry, just a quick snap. Going to be taking some proper pictures soon while summers here at a spot i know in the countryside because im seller her around feb :(
  7. The IS200 can be economical for sure. I mean i know ppl with V8s, even on this forum that dream of figures we get in our 200s. So it all depends what you class as economical. Its the going rate for a 6 cyl car of its age. If you look at it from fuel bills and ignore the MPG figure and your not breaking the bank then you'll be fine. I can get away with putting 40 - 50 in mine every 2 weeks if im just doing the commute which is about 10-12 miles a day which includes running the wife into work which is all full on town driving so im not complaining. Because im used to town driving when i do a long run it seems like its just sipping fuel and barly ticking over on the B and A roads round here
  8. I didnt know you upgraded wheels Stu, nice move. Love that colour, i saw one in that colour for the first time in the flesh about a month ago and was in awe
  9. Good idea. Ive replaced glass in cars before but the little quarters look a tricky business? Pre-cut film is cheaper than you think too btw, think i was quoted around £15 for just sides
  10. Dont think it looks that bad tbh and considering its a option with alot of cars these days cant really be called chavvy or anything like that. I guess i just like things to look original, always been my way of thinking. thats just me, thats why i was wary of putting VVT-i badges on it. At the same time i sometimes think why should some chap a Lexus decides what looks good or bad when its my car at the end of the day. Its alway nice to have something unique even if a Lexus isnt unique enough. dont see many :)
  11. wow nice story Matt and Chris just what i needed haha. Heard the fog light trick too, but i sometimes think if they think i care and want them to back off they'll just do it more? cuz isnt that how d**kheads think? I also once had someone efing and blinding, flashing the lot, for no apparent reason. I was going the speed limit, signaling, there was knowwhere to go with a line of traffic ahead also. He eventually got past me and then i watched him cut someone up and then tailgate again. He also shouted something as he drove past and because i littereally thought he must be drunk did a chugging a pint hand motion. Really dont get some people, but for some reason it stresses me out and dont think i could come to do anything like matt did, even though it sounds like alot of fun :) There are times when i might be the culprit i have to say, if someones doing 20 in a 30, or 40 in a 60 or coming onto the motorway and doesnt go past 50 expecting them to keep speeding up to at least 60 annoys me, but ill back off after realizing they aint going any faster if i cant get past even if it is peeing me off slightly! cuz at the end of the day i aint gonna gain anything by doing it
  12. Sounds like you've got a nice package there then. We havent seen any pics so wouldnt know :winky: Personally for me i like black calipers with silver decals on plat ice. but thats just me. alot of ppl go red and seen gold too.
  13. I would be very interested in that if it was for sale when i was buying. Got some nice touches. However I had to avoid auctions because once i sold my previous car i couldnt really be stuck without a car for more than a day
  14. Very impressive. Welcome aboard
  15. so what are these boy racer days everyone keeps harping on about? lol 26 here hehe Nah the IS200 isnt a fast car, have to say i was surprised when i saw the figures for the first time but also didnt bother me. I wouldnt call it under powered either its got enough to live with i think and I rarely need to rev into VVT-i range (4500ish) Anyway welcome, glad your enjoying the car and glad you decided to come on board the LOC :)
  16. btw thanks for pic also John. I think it looks good imo and would if i had any other grill
  17. Lol I could of told you this as I went down the same road. I have a thread with similar title. I tried it twice on my focus rear window and was extremely frustrated. I even damaged rear defrost lines by ripping it off in a strop that I later repaired. I think of is positively veing a life lesson :) However I will say idid side windows np and was very easy and looked profressional due to no heat shinking required on flat window... So do your sides yourself and pay someone £100 to do rear is my advise which is quote I got
  18. Ah fair does. Thanks for feedback. Deffo wouldnt spoil the back with badges it would look cluttered. Got the sports grill with Sports emblem so a vvti on there would look out of place also hense under repeaters. I think instead of sports emblem wouldnnt look out of place. Dont think I will anyway
  19. Ive had my rear disc off recently and after messing with the adjuster to slacken the shoes off it takes more to pull up now. It will stop the car but if i lightly tap the throttle it will creep forward too. Ive never really tested the strength so not sure if this is normal. Read on a old thread to adjust it just enough so you can hear a scuff but surely the wheel should spin freely without any friction from the shoes which is how i adjusted it when i put the disc back on... Also should both adjuster be in roughly the same position?
  20. Thought op wanted brochure not owners manual? Handbook?
  21. I think its just the cobination of me thinking ive ****** someone off and if I needed to brake quickly and they go up my back side
  22. Keep the car porn coming imo Good choice in tint strenth, 35% always a nice balance
  23. i just dont get it. why do ppl do it. what are you going to gain by following me through town all the way to Asda up my *****! It really stresses me out and take the relaxed and calm Lexus driving experience out of the window. Maybe in 10 years all cars will have that to close too the car in front alarm like the new S class and a few others
  24. Ive already thought to upgrade mine to DVD just because of cheaper updates DVDs available past 2007 and also the nice big screen. But its not worth it. What you could do is use the current housing and pop a tom tom in there or a cheap tablet interface from china and leave original loom and system dormant. To me it doesnt look like a hard mod especially if you keep it to the same screen size which is 5" i believe
