  1. You can do it at the handbrake itself or at the service hole behind the wheels at the position of 6 o clock. It was recommended to me i used the service hole so i did. Use a flat screw drive to turn the teeth on the adjuster. Cant remember which way The service hole can be seen on this guide to replace discs at step 12 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/tutorials/article/123-is200-is300-rear-brake-pad-disc-change/
  2. Ok thanks, wasnt sure if it was something that could wait or should be done asap. how come the price varies so much for them? they range from £40 to £100+ each?
  3. Passed. Advisory - both rear wheel bearings have slight play. Should this be sorted?
  4. I used the older version and Tbh most of the screen surround was not needed, basically only used the lid and open/close mechanism. You could do quite easily if needed....just easier if it has it already. I see. So you just cut it out? i find plastic quite hard to trim without looking messy. I once tried with my last car to put in a trip computer but it looked so bad i just bought the correct surround for trip... anyway, im just scared to mess with mine incase i mess up Ill look at yours closer at the meet and get a better idea. Youve been very helpful
  5. If its anything like the auto just unplug, drain and refile at the dip stick. This is only a semi change. A full flush would be taking sump and filters off. Dont quote me on that, like i said if its like the auto... never done it on a manual
  6. I like all the bright colours. Blue, Gold, White, Platinum ice and that colour between Gold and Platinum?
  7. Couldnt you custom make the screw cover with wood and paint or wrap?
  8. So is the older flip up 5" the later 7" ? if you got the older one (which seems to be more available) you would have to modify the housing to accommodate a 7" mio or similar
  9. The sportcross has really grown on me, its just a great car because its a IS but actually practical! i could do with one tbh for lugging my bike around and wot not
  10. Seen this to be fairly common on the IS. So are the drains for when its open and it rains? what happens if they get blocked?
  11. There are loads of 7" units out there. Not really a dream lol
  12. Thanks. Screen wash - good one. Everyrthing else - check. Had mine on ramp before last xmas too
  13. btw ive seen the drives for the IS go for around £100 on ebay
  14. OH i see. well on my sat nav disc it says GS, LS, IS but mines the older CD based system, but im guessing the same applies. So youve pin pointed the problem to be the DVD drive in the boot? It could be either the laser, the motor that moves the laser, the motor that spins the disc or even just a loose connection Not sure about toyota prius if it would work, if so what about an avensis alot of them had nav. hopefully someone will advise
  15. Wish me luck, first MOT with this car for me. I used to get nervous around MOT time but with this car im not that worried, even though it is nearly 14 years old! Ive tightened handbrake put halogens back in as you do, cant see any issues from my own inspection. Will report back
  16. You dont remove the whole thing to replace the bulb, just the clear plastic cover. comes off quite easily
  17. a bit confused. what exactly is broken and what exactly are you considering for an alternative? you want to repair the current system or maybe fit a tomtom or similar into the housing of the motorized lid?
  18. If your into the Helix surf, didnt you consider the new one (4runner) ? it would be a import, but its a amazing vehicle as is the RX likewise
  19. Yeah because when ive had it jacked up in N and tried to take handbrake off it wont let you, also wont without key in ignition
  20. I know the is has a safety thing when in N but I was in D parked and it just wouldnt release. It did eventually but not sure what I did. I went thru all the gears and pressed foot brake
  21. Very strange why it wouldnt have auto foldings mirror as the circuitry envolved is very simple and is a common mod on older gen. So much for inteligent sport
