  1. 5w 30. valvoline synpower from euro car parts. i thought the amounts were 3.9L before oil filter 4.1L with?
  2. I refuse to do it, although tempting in some situations. its just bad driving
  3. Was catching up with a old school friend yesterday and he asked what i was driving and i said a Lexus and he goes let me guess a IS200 i said yeah how did you know and he says you also used to love those and look at them when we were kids. how many ppl can say that on here lol
  4. Haha yeah. My bro was amazed by the seat belt light too he was like how does it know! I said thats why its called IS... intelligent sport :)
  5. and Luke regarding the colour, all i can say is what youve been told already. apply and thin coat of paint. and measure twice. did you get a drill bit the perfect size for the sensors? if so you cant really go wrong. Not sure why they are mat black anyway? mine are metallic I watched this professional do a car on youtube, and it helped me alot (i liked the music too ) I think part 1 covers the drilling and measuring, the loom you have already done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glXO4wlIS-Q
  6. yeah i was thinking along those lines but wishful thinking. I bought the kit cheap and its turning into a bigger job than i thought! its all good tho :) I had a quick look at the bumper and it looks quite straight forward
  7. Dont know if anyones interested but heres a update. Was panicking initially however the car scraped a cable trunking on the side of a wall not the wall (not sure if i mentioned that) therefore the damage polished out quite well as it was just a plastic or rubber painted piece, it did nip some paint off in a few places but after touching up and polishing again it seems to be acceptable but not perfect. here is after pic anyway, im pretty happy with it, if the car was perfect to begin with i might care more but it needs a bit spent on to be there....
  8. Im at the same stage and am wondring if there is a way to to it and avoid taking the bumper off. Did you find a way though the bulkhead? Gonna look today
  9. That would be awesome Ian! I know its same but 0-60 in low 6s is hard to resist :p
  10. Yeah its my kind of life style also, and the ppl are great but i appreciate its not for everyone at the same time. I am going to California and initially will be living in Napa Valley but aiming for Sacramento for better opportunities Talking of muscle cars i am hoping to get one or a classic at least but need something sensible to begin with. A V8 Lexus is the norm over there lol
  11. If any of you didnt already know im emigrating to the USA next year. My visa application is nearly complete and has taken less time than estimated. I really want to stay with the Lexus brand not only for the great cars but i love being part of the owners club, but Lexus is a much more respected manufacture in the USA (as they should be here!) and the equivalent cars are more than double the cost even after the exchange rate and you can pay alot more than what i found which begs the question do these examples need work. anyway if my finances allow here are some potential buys in the area i am moving too. I only picked good clean examples (from what i can tell) Always wanted a GS430 so found a few nice examples at a reasonable price, however im thinking a IS300 might be a more sensible choice running costs and maintenance wise In order of want and around the 7k mark 2001 GS430 180k $7200 (£4447) http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/4146106360.html 2001 GS430 144k $6500 (£4015) http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/4154050691.html 2004 IS300 162k $7300 (£4510) http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/4137049971.html 2001 IS300 ???K $7999 (£4942) http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/4134074098.html 2004 IS300 172K $7200 (£4447 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/4121803289.html American cars are cheaper and almost as good as a Lexus imo so may go down that road, who knows. such as some equivalent Luxury models: Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0L V8 Northstar (3.5 V6 was available) http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/4152891974.html Buick Riviera 3.8L V6 Supercharged http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/4112069919.html Ill keep you posted anyway, and hopefully be giving the good news of staying with Lexus :) P.s to whos going - will see you all at the meet, will be my last though :(
  12. Bare in mind some people may not want to change the look of the headlights to much. Just saying. I think it also comes down to how clean they are, at night it really shows how worn out my light are with hazy plastic. Cleaning them professionally should help
  13. Pretty sure it floats up to tell you when youve filled it. But dont quote me on that. This car is always full of little clever suprises :)
  14. Pretty sure it floats up to tell you when youve filled it. But dont quote me on that. This car is always full of litter clever suprises :)
  15. Yeah that would transform the light output im sure. wonder if something like this would look good http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-5-HID-Bi-xenon-Double-Headlight-Projector-Lens-Kit-For-D2S-Bulb-Angel-Eye-RHD-/251305648407?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a82fbe117
  16. Yeah i think i will then, prepare myself for winter. What got me thinking is had some in my dipped beam for ages but just got some in my fogs and thought might as well do the full monty now lol plus i was thinking the same that once there warmed up only takes a few seconds. and i might be moving soon which means a 20 mile commute on a A road and i work late
  17. Clocks are changing soon and am thinking is it worth getting a 55w HID kit for my brights?
  18. Not too long now. getting excited. Especially to see Ians GS :P
  19. You can buy anti glare hid bulbs from hid4u or buy a cheap kit and modify bulbs in same way. Even with my hids the headlight's are still rubbish on this car for some reason but yes better than halogen which is somwthing
  20. Good find thanks. Had a browse n Sainsburys lol. Found it quite good except from personal experience parts arent anyway near how much they said. £150 for a water pump? Also from what ive read the uneven tyre wear isnt simply down to tracking. Sales figures were interesting
  21. Just get a is300. In terms as running costs itsthe same. Except insurance maybe more.
  22. Ive just put all the loom in on mine. Now just the scary part. Drilling tjhe bumper :s
  23. Welcome. Nice IS250, love the wheels. No offence but never really understood why the 1 series is so popular, but it is :yack:
