  1. I agree - I paid £100 for mine, which is more than I wanted to spend (probably double) but I knew who it was coming from, it's condition and that it had everything with it. Plus I just really wanted it, and am so glad it's in there - the 400 mile round trip I made yesterday wouldn't have been so nice and relaxed without it! Be even more relaxed if I'd bought an auto, lol
  2. Bit overpriced, but maybe you can haggle with the guy if it doesn't sell? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-IS200-IS300-ALTEZZA-FRONT-LEATHER-ARM-REST-IN-BLACK-1999-TO-2005-/300809317325?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4609a1ebcd (not mine, just found while browsing)
  3. Lovely, always liked that colour, and those wheels! Shame it doesn't have the front armrest though, maybe that was just the late LE's? I thought all the late models with full leather had the armrest too.
  4. Strange you'd even stop to read AA bumph, let alone quote it after saying how crap the AA are earlier on
  5. Hahaha knoby. You are too funny! (ps, I'm not a mechanic, so there's no danger of me replacing valves on a customers car - but your concern is sweet) Ok, tell you what - if you want to feel that your car has a supercharger "like" engine, then please do so. It actually only makes is funnier to me! :D
  6. Regular 95 (first 40L was Shell, and the next 20 was BP) And yes, 70L tank. I filled up the 40L at shell when the needle was on the E marker, and orange light had been on for maybe 5 or so miles. I filled up the 20L when I left Leeds, the marker was on or just under 1/4 left. Then when the orange light came on at almost exactly 400 miles, and I dorve about another 5 miles to put some more in. So not an exact science, but close enough : orange light (-5miles) + 40L + 20L > orange light (-5 miles) Most of it, as said was motorway driving, with about 30 miles in town. Motorway speed was fairly constant, averaging 75/80, with a few reduced speed sections at 50. Now and again speed crept up to 90/95, and 105 at one point (oops), but overtaking cars would see the pedal get depressed a fair bit (with the little MPG reader saying 10!)
  7. an IS300 has the same body shell and alloys as an IS200. The TTE Kit was as option which adds sport body kit and 18" wheels so for me to make thigns clear for the OP, i metioned TTE IS300 to differetiate it between the standard IS300 because the difference lies in the bodykit and the 18"wheels. Is it clear for you matt?? Oh, so what you actually meant was "the optional 18" wheels supplied by Lexus came with 225/40-18 tyres" then. Should have just said so instead of yet again wording things that will confuse new comers that don't know there's no such thing as a "TTE IS200/300". No wonder people try and command a higher price for IS' with TTE bodykits on if they've all been told it's a special edition/version
  8. I also wondered the same, if it was a shopping trolley dent. It's definitely not a door - 1) because you'd have to be parked at a very strange angle, 2) because a front door would have left a vertical crease and 3) because a rear door, the turning point is too sharp and would have left a triangular dent, not a round one like that. It's almost as if something the size of a marble has hit it, but something that weighs more than a marble, as a dent like that would have needed some mass weight behind it. Oddness. And very annoying!
  9. Yes, I read it twice, because I had to be sure I wasn't imagining it! The effect is nothing like a supercharger - no matter who writes that it is. All that webpage proves is you are susceptible to marketing PR, no matter how ridiculous it is. And you know nothing about engines. VVTI (ASCI) works by varying (advancing/retarding - or speeding up and slowing down, for those that clearly don't understand) the inlet cam. At certain revs, the cam speeds up, meaning the inlet valves open and close quicker. Try it yourself with your mouth - breath in an out 1once a second, and then do it twice a second. Your mouth is now VVTI equipped! On some cars, they may have auxilary inlet valves that under normal driving aren't needed, but when required, they open and close too. Either way, the effect is the same - the engine sucks in more air. More air require more fuel, and more air + more fuel = more go. But in no way is that ANYTHING like a supercharger, OR it's effect. A supercharger, and a turbo charger, works by drawing in outside air, compressing it with rotor blades, making it denser, thus more air per cubic volume, and forcing it into the engine. The engine has no choice but to take it. Since the air is denser and takes up less space, more oxygen is crammed into any given space - add more fuel and you have more bang. Simply opening and closing inlet valves, or opening secondary inlet valves, does not mean the engine can contain any more air, because the air is not compressed. It's still 100 parts per volume rather than say 150 parts per volume. So back to what you, and Lexus, are saying - variable valve timing is NOTHING like supercharging, or the supercharging effect.
  10. matt do some research before you start typing ok. http://www.lexus.com.bh/technology_explorer/acoustic_control_induction_system_ACIS.asp?model=All Thank you, that web page has really made me laugh! Does it/you mean to tell me if I breath through my nose, and then open my mouth too its like I have a supercharger strapped to my face? Do you understand how a supercharger works? It compresses air and then forces it into the engine. That's called forced induction. The IS engine is a naturally aspirated engine - it isn't equipped with a turbo or supercharger. Please, I'd love you to explain to me how the naturally aspirated engine can become forced induction by opening the intake valves for longer, or even opening more intake valves at any given time. I mean are you saying a 16 valve engine is supercharged because it has more intake valves than an 8 valve engine? Again, do please stop talking drivel
  11. No such thing as a "TTE IS300". There was an IS300, and there was an option to choose the body kit, and/or 18" wheels when buying new. Please stop talking drivel.
  12. Or just bond them on with Tigerseal. Never had a bodykit part (skirts, arches, even spoilers) come off or away with that.
  13. Noby, It's nothing like a "mini super charge" because there is no compressed air involved, and no forced induction. Please stop talking drivel. Congrats on the purchase lexuslover2012 - like Chris said, it's not fast and it drinks like a basking shark, but it's by far the best car I've ever owned, and a joy to drive. Enjoy!
  14. Arrived in Leeds today, from London, and came out for a smoke - straight away from across the carpark I though the corner of the passenger front wing didn't look right. Strolled over and found this; No idea how that got there, or even when. I don't often actually look at the front, since it's parked with it's boot to the front door, but I don't remember seeing it when I came out of Tesco Saturday or Sunday, nor when popping out the shops Tuesday. Surely if a stone or something hit it that hard to dent it in that much on the motorway today, I'd have heard it. Even with the stereo pumping! Annoying!
  15. Granted most of it was motorway (about 370 miles of it), and the first 200 were with just over a half tank (40 litres), but by my book, that's about 30mpg, and 20.55 pence per mile (working on the average of 137p per litre) Is that good or bad?
  16. The HID's in my dipped beam came off ebay for £20, but I wouldn't put them in the fog lights. HID's take a little time to warm up when you turn them on, and for that reason I wouldn't put them in the fogs or the main beam (they are no good for flashing either). I'd either put whiter (ideally a good colour match) halogen bulbs in there, or LED bulbs. But I'm not sure about doing it as yellower lights cut through rain and fog better (rather than reflecting)
  17. They might be better, but I ain't paying £12/£13 for side light bulbs! Hell, I'd have taken mine out if it wasn't illegal, so the £1.95 ones I've put in are discreet enough to barely be visible when lit. It's not like they give any useable light anyway. Just gotta decide what to do with the fog lights - keep them as they are (yellowy regular bulbs) or try and get a colour match, or close to, the HID colour (either regular bulbs or LED bulbs)
  18. I just chucked a couple of 501 LED's in the sidelights, just because the regular bulb colouring was annoying me it didn't match the HID's. However, it looks like the two LED's aren't quite a match; both are white, but one has a slightly bluer tint, and the other a slightly greener tint! Ho hum...
  19. That's pretty much all you can do unfortunately
  20. I'm confused - what do you actually have? One complete, working master key - ie buttons and transponder working fine, and one non working key? If so, then you only need a new transponder, and with a fully working master key you *should* be able to reprogram a button pack to work with your car (not sure about the transponder though). If so, then buy one like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-3-BUTTON-REMOTE-ALARM-KEY-FOB-IS200-GS300-LS400-RX300-/271097144600?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f1ea62518 - then take the button pack out and put it in the key with the non working buttons, and do the reprogramming procedure to code it to your ECU. Or buy one like this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXUS-Transponder-3-button-Key-Remote-DENSO-1512V-for-IS-200-GS-RX-/251176403754?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3ALexus&hash=item3a7b47c32a - which will also need programming to your ECU, and you'll need the blade cutting too. If you only have one key, the master key, and that's the one with the busted button pack, then you're a bit stuck and looking at that hefty price from Lexus I'm afraid.
  21. I looked at the SV2's myself, and as you say they reviewed pretty well; from what I can tell no worse than the Uniroyals I went with (as said, my primary choice would have been Continental WinterContact's, and 2nd place would have been Dunlop 3D's, but also looked at Avon IceTour's and even a set of Khumo's too) I'll be getting mine on my spare rims end of this week, and will fit them shortly after. When it's dark it within the temp range (was down to 4deg on my way home just now!) but in the day it's still above 7, so I might wait a couple more weeks/end of the month before putting them on the car
  22. So it's actually £704 in total? For just a supply and fit both pump and belt? Bit OTT for my liking - if they were doing a service inc full fluid change then ok, but over £700 for just a belt and pump change is a bit much. You could get that for half that by going to a good independent
  23. £666 for service, and water pump and cam belt, all supplied and fitted is better than "about right". I was quoted £550 + vat (£660 inc) just for a service at a main dealer - and that was just fluids and normal service items. Belts, pumps, brakes, etc were all additional
