  1. Nothing here yet. Spose it's too much to hope they've got it wrong and it isn't coming - makes my job even more of a misery than normal!
  2. I've got one of these; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200841809155?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 The plan was to install TomTom Navigator on it to run as an app, and plug a reverse cam into it. But me being a plum bought one without an AV-In port! And I haven't managed to get TomTom working on it either (need to buy a micro card thingy to expand the storage on it before I can copy the maps to it)
  3. I've already got a 7" housing, just not sure if I can be arsed to fit another nav into it
  4. I think it's still only three wires, you just bridge a pin for the illumination. Could be wrong though - I know feck all about wiring
  5. Buy a motorised unit off ebay, rip out the screen, fit an after market satnav in it's place, do a little wiring and use the ignition live from the stereo wiring to power it.
  6. Wow, way to cry on the internet. Over dramatise much?

Likewise, I don't get why they weren't standard on all the IS. They make especial sense on the auto models. I guess Lexus just wanted another "exclusive" item on the 300 (along with the 5sp auto box and tiptronic control, amongst other items the 200 didn't get). The late model 200's had pretty much everything the 300's had (bar the 'box and tiptronic controls of course), which I think was just to flow the remainder of them out the door before the new model was launched
  8. The whole Lexus/Impreza thing is something I've also thought about - I've always liked the 1st gen Impreza, and on the one hand it makes sense to move from an IS to a WRX - 2WD to 4WD, 150bhp N/A to 220bhp turbo. But on the other hand, it make sense to move from an Impreza to an IS; and Impreza isn't much more inside than a Micra, and the IS is much more comfortable, better specced and nicer place to be inside!

I love it though. They are stupidly overpriced, but at the same time so worth it. I couldn't be without it in my IS, and it was noticeable missing even before I put it in. The two best things I've added to my IS are the armrest and the Grom iPod adapter. I couldn't be without either!
  10. If you "double" lock it (two presses of the remote button) I'm told this deactivates the alarm, the car is locked, and deadlocked, but not alarmed. Downside to that is, if your battery goes flat, you're going to have to smash a window to pull the bonnet catch, as the deadlocks cannot be disengaged using the key in the door

    Not for sale though, sorry!
  12. At the kind of boost pressures I would be running if I was to turbo my IS, roughly half a bar, it's entirely un unnecessary. And, imo, they sound chavvish.
  13. I miss having a turbo; I'd love to install a small, OEM style turbo on my IS. But I really CBA to go through the cost or hassle of it all
  14. About 50hp. And keep thinking; they're very rare, very expensive, and even trying to make one up from parts isn't easy. It's easier, cheaper and quicker to just buy an IS with one already fitted, and swap it into your car
  15. Didn't have a lot here (fortunately, as it makes my job a misery), but the IS with the winter tyres I fitted last month coped with it brilliantly - just like it did early December when we had that one day of snow. No TRC lights coming on when accelerating/pulling away, or either when breaking. Drove just as it would on a normal road. As for the snow button, I often use it when parking anyway as it softens the throttle response, so I also use it when pulling away on the snow and ice, although I tried without and it doesn't really make any difference. It might do if you were on regular tyres I guess, but not with the winter tyres.
  16. As Chris says, S models came with 16's, while SE's, Sport's and SportCross' came with 17's. The LE's also had 17's but a different style (11 spoke) Personally, I would get winter tyres to fit your 16's, and pick up a decent set of standard 17's to run for the rest of the year - for two reasons; firstly the IS looks better with 17's on it, and secondly, winter tyres are cheaper for 16s than 17's.
  17. I'm guessing it's the same speaker in the instrument cluster that does the beeps for door open, or lifting handbrake while driving.
  18. If only there was an easy way to remove/stop/kill the standard "reverse-engaged" beep. I don't have sensors, but the beep to tell me I'm in reverse is annoying as fook and incredibly unnecessary
  19. Don't worry about the beer tokens, I'll go one further and buy you a 24 pack of your favourite beer in exchange for the wheels ;)
  20. Not enough to make any difference to the state of the engine. The piston rings are there to seal the bore (combustion chamber) and regulate the engine oil - basically so the oil and fuel don't mix. With a good condition cylinder, and good condition rings, there will be minimal fuel deposits on the bore wall, and what does make contact won't affect the bore, or rings, due to lubrication from the oil. You'll get no more bore wash from an idling engine than you will from an engine being driven.
  21. Well, standard apart from the grille, the chin spoiler on the front bumper, the sideskirts, and probably the rear bumper skirt too ;)
  22. I'd think the manifold will be one of the biggest issues, plus oil lines for the turbo (maybe you can just tap the sump for those - not sure if you'd need a filter or not though?). Will the IS ECU be happy with an 8psi turbo strapped to the engine, or is it going to need piggybacking to fuel it properly? I've often thought that the 1GFE could really do with a turbo - nothing big or offensive, but more a small, quick spooling, lowish pressure turbo, something that feels OEM like a Golf 1.8T does. I'd rather that than a supercharger, mainly just because I don't want the noise of a 'charger (I know some love it, but I prefer a little, unobtrusive, turbo whistle, than the whine of a supercharger)
