  1. I've confirmed there will be a 10bhp difference between the two. Now, using the laws of physics, we can both conclude the car with more power (providing we are comparing two identical cars) will be faster than the car with less horsepower. Unless of course you are saying the laws of physics are wrong? Yes, I have elaborated, and haven't avoided the question. The question you asked was "If I take all of the mechanical parts from my IS300 and put them in a Supra", and I've answered you twice now that all of the mechanical parts from your IS300 won't fit in a Toyota Supra BECAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT CARS. As such, the Supra you've tried to fit the mechanical parts from your IS300 to will be unsafe and as a result, won't handle safely, let alone better. I don't know how to make it any clearer, without recommending you go back to junior school? Given the juvenility of your attempt to get a rise from me, I won't give you the satisfaction of an answer. Try harder next time please :)
  2. What? Who mentioned 5 car lengths or even a figure of measurement? Are you just making things up now? (BTW, the engines aren't equal - the engine in the Supra is more powerful. That's why the Supra is a Supra, and an IS300 isn't) (PS, can you provide me your doctorite or qualification to prove to me you have the education to say you need 30bhp per tonne to go 1 second quicker) (PPS, can you also put that "1 second quicker" into context please. Do you mean in terms of space time? As according to the atomic clock or something?) (PPPS, oh and trust me knobby, there is no 4dr Supra) As for elaborate, sorry I thought I had already been clear; All the mechanical parts in your car won't fit in a Supra. Because they're different cars. If you were to take a Supra and try and fit all your mechanical parts, it wouldn't be as fast or handle as well. In fact, it'd be a death trap and I wouldn't get in it.
  3. Just incase anyones looking for one, spotted this. Shame it's not complete; it's missing the cubby hole (and the magnet cover, but that's not the end of the world) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lexus-is-200-300-front-arm-rest-/281084303604?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4171ee18f4 Tad overpriced seeing as it's missing the cubby hole; might be worth haggling with the seller?
  4. Really? You, of all people, that quote power figures, and go on about doing little mods like air filers, fuel additives, etc, are now poo-pooing a horsepower increase? Dear oh dear oh dear... Forget the life ring, you need this;
  5. Thanks, but I really don't feel the need to prove something I already know. Matter of opinion. Some think Pepsi is better than Coke. Personally, I prefer Coke, so I think it's better. All the mechanical parts in your car won't fit in a Supra. Because they're different cars. If you were to take a Supra and try and fit all your mechanical parts, it wouldn't be as fast or handle as well. In fact, it'd be a death trap and I wouldn't get in it. But if you were to just swap over the engine alone, the Supra would be slower than it was with it's own engine. Why? Cos the naturally aspirated Supra makes more power than the engine in your car. (220bhp in the Supra, 211 in your car)
  6. Incorrect. I can select any gear I want at any speed. That wasn't your question. Please learn to read what you actually type. However, in the interest of playing nicely, I'll name you something that's better with the 200 than the 300; the IS200 is actually a Sport. Your IS300 isn't... As for whats better, that's a matter of opinion. If you want a 2L, then it's better than the 3L. If you want 6 gears, then the manual box is better than the 5speed auto (like wise, if you want a manual box, it's irrelevant how many gears the auto has, as the manual is better). If you want half leather, then it's better than full leather. Knowing you, you'd like to work on specs and number's, so here's some for you; - The 2.0L in the 200 is better than the 3.0 in the 300, because the 2.0L makes 76.5bhp per litre. The 2JZ 3.0L only makes 70.33 bhp per litre - The Sport manual box has 6 forward gears. That's one more than the IS300 (non-Sport) 's auto box. - Full leather is only one material. Half leather half alcantara is two materials. Such by laws of accumulation, it's better. Need I go on? Interesting. You ask a question, get put bang to rights, so change your question. It's also interesting you have been harping on about your car being a Supra with a 4dr chassis, but now say put the chassis aside? Can't help but envision the sinking ship you're in. Here, this will help you;
  7. So, which bit of that says "...and can drive away after" ? Oh that's easy. The badge. Want another? The logbook. Anymore? How about the DVLA database? Let's see, my insurance certificate is another. Oh wait, my MOT certificates too. Moving on from the name, here's some other stuff in my IS200 Sport that isn't in your IS300. A six-speed manual gearbox. A 2L engine. Half leather, half alcantara seat trim. Anymore you'd like me to add? PS, lots of cars have the same engines as each other, this has already been explained to you. The Audi R8 Spyder has the same engine as a Lambo Gallardo LP-560 for example. The Ford F-150 Lightning has the same engine as a Ford GT. The Noble M12 has the same engine as a Mondeo. The Dodge Viper has the same engine as a Peterbilt truck. But the R8 isn't a Gallardo LP-560. The F-150 isn't a GT. The Mondeo is not an M12, and the Viper isn't a Peterbilt. Just like your IS300 isn't a Sport or a Supra.
  8. All well and good bumping, but if you can provide a bit more info and/or pics as said, might speed things along for you
  9. Bought a bracket from Jason a couple days ago, and I now have a phone holder sorted for the IS :) Now I can go happy motoring using either Google or Apple Maps and finally get rid of my TomTom! Hurrah! Could do with changing the actual phone holder bit - the one that's on there is just a cheapy item picked up off eBay. I'd like to swap it out for a Brodit item, but I need one for a 4S rather than a 5, because the 4S one was available with a passthrough connector, which I want to swap out with the Apple Lightning adapter (seen in pic) so as to fit the 5 (but still retain use of the Grom (the black connector and cable) for when I want to use it with my iPod Classic. But I ain't spending £53 on a new Brodit part!!! Thanks Jason for sorting me out, and making it easy to collect whilst you were at work too :)
  10. Really :-) ?? OK will stay out of it now will let matt, transporter & buddy ray go on about how they love my 4 door Supra lol Hmm, you wouldn't be reneging on your word again would you? Whatever name you want to call me matt, but would be nice to get it right for once wont it? and why would i ever need clinical psychology? infact clinical psychology will benefit you, tarnsporter and ray. coming up with 'i can put my car in any gear at any time' lol which they all agredd can be done.. like i said try matt try it at 90mph an see if it slots in and if you can drive off after that then 'yes you can' but if not then guess what? 'No you can't'.. make me laugh!! coming back to this thread i held my hand up and mention i got my predictions wrong and that the snow was not over yet. does that make me human? yes it does.. coming to Supra's just to clarify 98-2002 Supra's came in two forms one with a twin Turbos and one without the Turbos and if i say my car is a 4 doors Supra I am not on about the twin turbo version guys am on about the non-turbo version which has exactly the same drive trains and suspension type as an IS300 but just in a 4 door chasis and slightly raised ride height if this clears things up. No, I wouldn't put my car in any gear at 90mph. That would be illegal. Please quote me where I've said I can put my car in any gear at any time and drive off after that. Your car is an IS300. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not an IS300 Sport, and it's not a Supra. Hence why you need to see a clinical physiologist - you are very clearly deluded and quite possibly in denial. PS, you still haven't provided a quote to back this up; Really :-) ?? OK will stay out of it now will let matt, transporter & buddy ray go on about how they love my 4 door Supra lol
  11. Haha, that would be funny. But no - no offence, but I don't do car meets anymore. I've been to one car show in the past godknows how many years, and that's only cos my friend from the US was over at the time and is a Cosworth nut, so we went to the RSOC national day at Donnington. Although if Knobby wants to meet, I've got a friend that works in clinical psychology; I'm sure I could get him looked at for a favourable rate ;)
  12. Could you please quote me where I've said that please, knobend Knobby?
  13. I hate it. For one, I spend a very large portion of my day driving, and even the slightest glimpse of snow turns everyone into the most pathetic drivers ever. Second, I work outside - so that's pretty self explanatory. And thirdly, changing windscreens on cars isn't an easy job at the best of times, but it's made dramatically worse in cold temperatures, and made even worse by the complete and utter bell-ends that don't bother to even clear their cars of snow on the day I turn up to change their windscreen. Sometimes I wish I had an office job..... (Then I wake up and realise I'd be likely to kill someone if I did)
  14. Acoustic screens have slightly thicker laminate between the sheets of glass to reduce noise. Wiper heaters are standard across all IS 2nd Gen models IIRC. And no you can't upgrade to auto wipers - you don't have the sensor, loom, associated relays/fuses or switch.
  15. Laser tracking is pointless if the rears are out - because they use the rears (in most cases) to align the fronts. So if your rears are out, then aligning the fronts with lasers just means you have 4 wheels out. Shame you're a bit far from WIM to have them set it up :(
  16. Bad luck pal. I 180'd mine on Friday night on a roundabout - my own fault; came across roundabout #1 a little sharpish and the back end stepped out but the TRC caught it, and my mate in the passenger seat said "wtf was that all about?" so I explained it's RWD, and it tried to step out but the TRC caught it. Then we go to roundabout #2 and in a foolish manoeuvre, I turned the TRC off and booted it in 2nd - cue car doing a 180 and the front passenger wheel mounting the kerb on the roundabout! Fortunately, it doesn't seem as though it's damaged - it still drives more or less spot on; possible a tiny little left pull, but this seems to be more about the road surface than the steering. That wheel was already kerbed (another fault on my part!) and amazingly, the part that mounted the kerb seems to be the part that was already kerbed! So all in all, quite lucky, but I think I'll take it to WIM and have it checked, just to be sure...
  17. Why would it matter if I own one or not? It's a hypothetical situation.
  18. Ray - I'm guessing that was a rhetorical question, as the answer is clearly none
  19. The 200 is turbocharged, and has dyno'd at 225bhp and 270NM of torque. Go (BTW, you failed to tell me how I can provide you proof without videoing it. Why am I not surprised)
  20. Ok, I'll play along. So, how would you like me to prove it? And you've circumvented the question. I asked can YOU shift to any gear and any time in your auto. Not the car or its ECU, but rather YOU. It's not hard to understand but I'll paint you a picture. You're driving along in 5th, bumbling away. You see an IS200 and want to teach it who's boss in your vastly superior car, can YOU shift to 2nd? (The answer is no btw. You can only shift sequentially. The IS200 owner on the other hand, can drop it down to 2nd no problem)
  21. I want evidence it does matt you say your car can go in a ny gear at any time right? send us an evidence of you shifting to 2nd gear at 80mph its all am asking matt not much.. Yes it is too much to ask. It's highly irresponsible for me to film myself changing gear at 80mph. Rest assured, I can pull the gearstick out of 5th or 6th and put it into 2nd at 80mph. Oh by the way, you missed an answer to a question earlier. Can you select any gear at any time in your car?
  22. It does, yes. And you're not, no....
  23. Yes, I can. I didn't say it would be good for the engine or gearbox, but it doesn't change the fact I can... That they do. However we're talking about gearboxes, not throttle controllers. You can't have a car operating without fuel either - are you going to digress and go off on an irrelevant tangent about that too? Face it knobend, sorry, knobby, you cannot hold an adult conversation to reinforce any of your points. So you digress onto pointless fluff instead...
  24. Actually no, it's not. It's not even 50% of its weight. So yes, there's not a lot in it... We're talking about gear boxes. Not throttle controls.... Gearboxes. Not throttles... I can select any gear at any time. Can you do that in your auto? Nothing to do with the gearbox. Has to do with the efficiency of the engine. Not the gearbox. #Jesus wept
  25. What a non answer. Not surprising since you've just been proved wrong AGAIN for not reading posts properly AGAIN...
