  1. I agree that a DIY person will take more care over a dealer. Trouble is you just don't get access to the required tools/computers/firmware upgrade/TSB etc so you just cannot do all the work required.

This guy is servicing a car that is 13 years old - it's a different animal servicing a modern day Lexus or Mercedes. :crying:

Good luck anyway and glad to see we could answer his query, guess we'll be hearing from him again sometime.

  2. Well Evista, thats what i thought, but having read what was on the CNN web, i have doubts..

The camera turns off automatically to save the car battery but can be activated via a button on the coppers belt.

Also PCP, it is well documented what effects are to a person,, "Some PCP users have become very violent, acting with intense amounts of energy" "PCP or angel dust, is an animal anesthetic "

which could well explain the alleged violence towards the coppers, and the man trying to get up etc..

Fair comment - I havent seen the video, but did it show him being overtly violent???

  3. when i first saw the video, i thought hmmm police brutality, now after reading up on the CNN website, im not so sure..

was it justified, especially by 6 police.

PCP was found in his blood. known to 'enhance' the users strength..or rather not feel any pain etc.

I havent even seen the video and I think police brutality.

This guy is massive and probably unable to move quickly, hes also just about managed to get up from a drunk/drug enduced collapse on the floor. Do you really think this guy posed a threat to 2, let alone 6 officers. He probably lashed out verbally or with a punch and they just punished him for it rather than defending themselves.

Also, why did they turn the video off

  4. Sorry to hear about that mate.

Heard a similar story from a guy in my company who lives in Leeds - he had a Volvo V70 in pillarbox red and they broke in to the house, took the keys and stole the car. I dont know why they targeted that car, it is not exactly desirable amongst street racers and the colour is quite unusual on a volvo, so quite easy to spot, but they never recoved the car. Maybe they were doing a bit of shopping and needed a big car!

  5. I know what your saying. The GS screen position is too low - I had an X5 and the screen is quite high and easy to glance at.

What I was getting at though is that without satnav you just accept the route you have chosen whereas with it, you spend more time reading it to see whsat to do next.

  6. I agree that it does distract your attention, but less though on hands free. What I find is just as bad though is the sat nav. Whenever I am in London, I spend half the time looking down at the screen looking for the next turning or a shorter route to avoid traffic.

It is obviously better than a paper map, but I have found that since I have had the sat nav, I am ducking and diving much more whereas with a map, you have a good read of it when your stationary and stick to the plan.
