  1. If it wont 'rev up' when connected to 12volts, its likely to need brushes as well as the solenoid contacts. The contacts are available from Lexus or 'clickerfixer' in the USA. Smell it!..if it smells burnt it will have field coil problems as well. Gear parts etc are available from Lexus If you think it needs the lot, I think I would go for a recon. motor..
  2. Might be worth cleaning the throttle body first to eliminate it.....
  3. On mine the fault was traced to the small white switch on the inside of the key barrel. If you take the trim off and look at the lock barrel [ other side to where you put the key in] This removable switch was only connecting on one side on mine. I had a spare from a scrapper and that solved it, but I stripped and repaired the old one just as an emergency spare. The switch looks quite flimsy but is nicely made with silver contacts. Whist you are in there lubricate the actual door lock mechanism as mine was dry and starting to rust. Hope this helps...
  4. Check Ebay plenty being broken up.....
  5. It looks like a little motor, at front of engine, right near the top where the name badge is. Right in your face when you look at the engine!
  6. Have you checked for the popular fault of broken wires in the boot lid hinge? This gives weird problems but the only time I had the fault you describe [not on my Lexus] it was a faulty battery....
  7. NEED THE VIN FOR BOTH,to be sure,......series 2 92-94 has different pt.# than series 1 89-92 for wing and bumper outer
  8. It requires capacitors to be replaced in the unit. I did it myself, it's very fiddly to do. Search the sight for Chris Vince he is the man..
  9. Also look at 'room temp. sensor', ..there is a little grille for this on the lower fascia [near your left knee] This checks the temp. and adjusts the system accordingly, apparently this must be clean.[As well as not faulty!] If you cannot switch the blower off at all, suggest the relay for the heater is stuck 'on'.........guessing... as is 'before' the transistor for the aircon. if you fix it please give update so we all learn!!
  10. On my '94 with 95 reg.[M] , the switches for the rear seats are in the rear centre armrest
  11. Lexus do kits for the LS, might be worth trying them, don't think the price is too staggering!
  12. Re smoke related to PS fluid, I'm sure i saw something on the US LOC about a faulty valve under? or related to the PS pump. Worth trawling the US site, they had the answer...
  13. Usually it is the PS pump. Often this is only an 'O' ring failure where the reservoir joins to the pump body. Plenty of info on this if you search LOC etc. Popular fault, not usually serious! Re smoke, possible plugs or HT leads, damp in it all if not being used etc.........
  14. Look on Ebay, there was a full system on lately...
  15. As above, it is shims, not hydraulic, but unless it's really loud, I'd leave it. Make sure you have some decent oil in!
  16. Also, all though I feel sorry for the ordinary people, aren't these the ones who voted for Hamas?
  17. Don't know about series 3 I believe Series 2 has two motors, one for parking... Might be worth a look, in case it's the other one...
  18. Does it crank over? Are you sure the belt is on right?, timed up correctly....
  19. As above, vital to diconnect battery, airbags dangerous!!
