  1. As Steve says the brakes are not right, check for seized pistons, caliper pins etc. Also look if any spring is broken near the top.
  2. I'm with Steve2006, I think they sent you home with very little fluid in the transmission, after 'flushing' it, and you and 'mechanic' burned out the transmission. The fluid runs very hot, and the internals are precision, complicated items, absolutely reliant on the correct amount of fluid. They wrecked it in my opinion and the very least they should do is fit you a replacement off an accident damaged car.

    Wanted 94 Ls400 Ecu

'91 is a series one, yours is series two. I also have a cheap series one as a donor, lots of things are different, but some body panels are the same, lights etc. some sensors, engine parts etc. I robbed the mirror computer out of it,which had a different part number but worked ok it just had a different mounting arrangement due to the passenger airbag on series two. No passenger airbag on series one. Think you will have to check the breakers or Ebay..

    Wanted 94 Ls400 Ecu

What year is the donor? PT.# 89661-50160 is listed ' from AUG.1992 UNTIL Oct 1994'
  5. On my '94 LS400 there is a diagnostic system for the trans. Surely the later 430 has a diagnostic system..some code would surely be thrown up. What about all this OBD2 system and the like..? The dealer surely has provision to come up with something better than 'the trans has melted'.. Simplest first thing, whats the fluid like?, is there enough in there? what's it like? Something very wrong here...
  6. As Steve says, get it away for a second opinion if you can. It doesn't add up unless the mechanic selected reverse at 40 mph or something..
  7. Hi In short, no. Thats why I asked what the symptoms are. I can't imagine its dead unless seriously mistreated or sabotaged. I also think that with a description of what happened/is happening, we may be able to provide suitable advice. I am also interested in the comment "the car lost its drive when their mechanic test drove it." Why was he testing it? If it were mine the dealer would be fixing it. Is there no diagnostic system for this car? Only time I heard of a dead 'auto' it was short of trans fluid.
  8. I reluctantly tried 'greased lightning [advertised on TV] after I was given a bottle. I couldn't bring myself to use it without washing the car though. old habits die hard. Very sceptical but I must admit it gave an excellent finish, without too much effort and the next time I used it was better still, appearing show the car colour better. Not had a long term trial but impressed up to now, though I only used Autoglim before.. Plenty of people raving about how good it is on the website.
  9. Excellent, glad you fixed it, did you put copper grease or similar on the pin?
  10. Absolutely right, theres' not much leg room in them designer handbags anyway
  11. There is a Master cylinder repair kit part# 04493-50010. You can try bleeding it with the engine running as a last resort
  12. Re your query on high mileages, there are reports of 400,000 milers! The key is look after the engine oil, plenty of changes..
  13. That's a fine offer, I have managed to find one, should have it in 2 to 3 days. If the old one ends up spare, it's your's if you want it Glad you found one, I'll have go at it and send it back to you for a spare!
  14. I have a '92 MkII with LPG, 175k and love it. My ideal would be a '94 with LPG I have a '94 and it's the best car Iv'e ever had and I've had a few assorted, from big American to Jags etc. Stay away from air suspension, check the starter a few times, if it clicks and fails to engage at any time its a long painfully slow job to fix it. The rest is as the other posts tell you, drive gently for economy, it will swallow as much petrol as you can pour into it, if you floor it! ...
  15. Best barge you'll ever get! Cambelts for series two suggested change at 65000 '95 starts series three, may be higher mileage, some one on here will know.
  16. Someone with a bench drill could drill it out or drill it and use a broken screw extractor on it. It needs soaking in penetrating oil first Pins and attached rubber bits bits are available as parts. Where abouts do you live? Im in Glasgow, with hindsight I should have soaked it more and used more heat on it, what I thought was the pin starting to loosen was it actually twisting, eventually it snapped through metal fatigue. If you get no joy anywhere,PM me and you can post it to me. I reckon I can get it out! No charge just the post. cheers

  18. Did two Mercs. and a Volvo over a few year period. You have to check carefully now on prices, Cat D's are overpriced in a lot of cases. Similar undamaged cars are in Autotrader at damn near the same price, with tax and MOT.
  19. If it gets less and less cold, it will most likely have a leak...
  20. Thanks for replying ROYT. Could not find any references to DOX Denso numbers on clublexus. The Denso carton I have is marked as made in Europe mybe the numbers are different in the US! Thanks anyway. What I really need is a list showing Lexus (Toyota) part numbers and the Denso DOX equivalent. Type DOX-238 into Google, some info there.. Tried google - thanks - but no specific info there. So fitted the part today - seems OK but will need to give the car a few cold starts to be sure - fingers crossed. Will post the results - Thanks ROYT for your kind assistance Ray Try searxhing the part numbers again, look for Toyota not Lexus
  21. For UK models these codes are for COILS, defective, shorted, or low current supply You posted on the UK site, check with the USA site to confirm. cheers

  23. It does sound like the starter motor contacts, these are available from Lexus or try 'clickerfixer' on the web. Don't know what engine is in your GS, its an easy job once the starter is off, nightmare to get to it on the LS.
