  1. Occasionally I get a drip from the sliding roof after heavy rain and this runs down the the windscreen pillar near to the tweeter, check the roof seals/drains before blaming the door!
  2. I don't have an IS, but if I had this problem I would check the thermostat,is the fan belt loose, radiator mesh clogged up etc
  3. I did this job on my '94 Ls using the ADUS bushings from the US, as shown on the LEXLS tutorial. Worked fine, no problem. Must be 3 years ago.
  4. Start by checking all battery connections and earths. [or grounds if you prefer]
  5. If it's worse with new brake shoes, are you sure you turned the adjuster in the right direction?
  6. Maintenance much the same as any car, change your oils and fluids, regularly, use the best stuff.
  7. also check if the thermostat is stuck shut or otherwise faulty
  8. As above, this sounds way over the top............
  9. try new pins and bushes first, with grease......
  10. The 'manual' is in 3 parts, 1 and 2 and wiring. Very thick and worth finding, expensive to buy about £150 but you soon get your money back, if you can do jobs yourself!
  11. If you are happy to remove them, sandblasting an a paint job do the trick.
  12. Sounds like starter solenoid stuck on,....usually it's the opposite fault, i.e not contacting Contact kits available, easy to fit but a mass of dismantling to get to the motor.
  13. Due to government greed for tax, lots of people are forced to drive small cars 'cos of the cost. Plus it makes more room for poltitians to be cheuffered around in big Jaguars. When I see them all in Nissan Micras I might sell my LS 400, on second thoughts. sod 'em, I wont.
  14. It would do harm to stick a bit of LOCTITE on them....
  15. When I checked the price of new pad wear wires I gave up, reconnected the wires together and now I just check them visually once a month.
  16. Up to now the USA fix listed above, is about the only alternative to new parts all round. Slow and no fun without a 4 post lift, but worth the saving, I did mine just with a decent pair of ramps. Best with a helper, parts fairly heavy to maneuver on your own The money saving will give you strength!
  17. 21 is solar sensor circuit-open or short circuit If the a/c clutch does not cycle, most likely lost refrigerant. A/c compressor bottom right as you face the engine, you can usually see the clutch click in and out if it's working right. The noises might just be the injectors ticking as they are working
  18. On mine the cat flanges fixed to the manifold had hardly any rust on at all. The lower cat flanges connecting to the Y pipe were rusted away to less tha half the original thickness and worse in some places, as were the pipe flanges attached. The USA fix would be well worth it even using mild steel again, mine did last 17 years! Proves it could be done, alignment would be needed before final fix though, flanges are angled. Saving megabucks!
  19. On Ebay you can get a complete s/s system from the cats back for £500. Quality unknown. The cats are the killer cost if you want genuine.
  20. It might be an intermittent fault caused by a break in one of the pad wear wires. If vibration caused the break to reconnect the light will go out. The system works by wearing away a little block in the pad back, breaking the circuit and putting the light on.
