  1. Mine was ( and I say was) an 06 220d SEl and no matter what I did , clean EGR, re set computer, everything, I never got more than 33 on average and 38 mpg on a good run. The gearing on the pre 07 vehicles is useless, very short rev band and no power outside of it. It went, I now have 3litre D Audi Quattro, done 30k and its what it should be. and I manage to get 40 to 45 mpg,

  2. I have complied with all of the proceedures suggested. it has not changed any of my fuel consumptions. I get 33 on local runs and 38 on motorway driving over long distance. I have checked by using the full tank to tank method and the cars computer is quite accurate. I did get exactly 500 miles from a full tank on motorways last week? by what has been written on hear this sounds normal if not good. ??????? for an 06-220d.

  3. Hi All, I seem to have opened the door to other vehicle owners wanting to state maybe I and others maybe bought the wrong car. Maybe so, but as a general 4 door saloon, its a really comfortable, smooth, reliable, well built and easy to drive car with every extra anyone could want inc the best sound system in a saloon. My only concern was "is there any remap that will help with the engine /gear ratio to make it work a little more in partnership. I am not knoocking the car and I have owned Mercedes , BMW diesels for years and the IS220D compares really well, just not as good on fuel consumption. So has anyone out their remaped their IS220D?

  4. Thanks for the reply, and I do understand what you are saying, but to keep a Diesel car constantly at around 2k revs means that every time the car slows down in traffic or goes round a corner, the driver has to constantly change into second, which is a pain. As for the lag, I have had Mercs and BMWs diesels and never had any lag like this one, its unreal, It just does not seem right to stay in low gears and rev them like a petrol engine. Dont they use the same engine in the toyota with a different gearbox? do they have the same problem ?

  5. Matus, I have followed your advice closely, I performed steps 3 and 4. after reset of ECU I found the right road and at 38mph in 3rd gear with cruise set and AVG reset to 0. I only managed 56mpg thats after 8 miles of constant 38mph at around 1800rpm. I tried 56 mph in 4th at around 1900rpm and got 52mph. This is far less than the 67-74 you managed to obtain. I am averaging around 37-39 mpg on a general days driving in town and out. Is this normal???

  6. Hi, please can someone point me in the right direction. I have a IS220D 2006. When I have the headlight switch to Auto and then turn off the engine and lock the car and leave , if it is dark the lights stay on , permenently. The same happens if I have the lights turned on t manual and when I shut off and leave. they stay on, even if the car is switched off and locked?? surely this cant be normal. Every other car I have ever driven turns the ligts off when the ignition is off? Can anyone help . thanks,
