That sketch cracks me up every time I see it!

This really was an excellent meet. It made a refreshing change to see the cars in action. I don't think that anyone did too much damage to their cars, and the vast majority of people behaved really well.
Many thanks to Barry and Zee for chauffeuring me aroung the track! :)

I would have liked to have come to this, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
I hope you all didn't make Mat pay for the pizzas!
Zee - How long did it take you and Aido to get there?
-
Hmm... Not one of your better ones!
-
Happy Birthday matey! :D

You know how this car has a 7 speed gearbox including reverse, does that mean that I can say that my car has 4 speed wipers, including OFF?
-
I definitely not going to bid on it now. One of the gears has obviously broken as it only has 6 now.

Any fraud emails will be reported... What's a fraud email?
-
Doesn't say how much MOT is on it. Might have been interested otherwise.

That statement would suggest that you could drive somebody else's car which wasn't insured otherwise, under your own insurance.
I'm confused now... :duh:
-
Nick, if your policy states you can drive another vehicle, with the consent of the owner; the vehicle IT'S SELF must have a valid insurance policy.
IE the owner of that vehicle, must have insurance for it.
UNLESS
You have a Motor Traders policy, and you can drive any vehicle, regardless of it having insurance or not.
Funny you ask this, a mate of mine rang me the other day to ask this ........ It's all do to with money mate, stops people getting insured on a Metro / Mini type car .... then buying a high insurance group car .... and driving it around.
Hope that clears it up for you.
Regards,
That is what I thought, but there is nothing in my policy to say that this is the case. Is there a law to say that every car must have its own insurance, hence no mention on the policy?
-
Clean too. Why do I think that I'm going to regret posting on this thread... I hate tempting fate

On my car insurance, I can drive other cars with the owners consent (third party only). My question is, does this car have to have its own insurance policy on it?
I was always under the impression that if I went out and bought another car, I couldn't drive it under the 'driving other vehicles' clause, but having looked at my policy, I can't find anything that says that the car would need its own insurance.
Can someone clarify what the situation is here?

I was gutted that I couldn't make this last time. Hopefully I will be able to make it this time around.
1 for me please!

Yes, another good turn out!
Great to meet the new members, Mr Morse and Baby Shake, sirmarkwilson and family and ChrisH. A very good turn out.
Thanks to Aido for organising this, and also for his amusing anecdotes... :o
I think we got a few pictures before we were 'moved on'! too, so hopefully someone will get these uploaded.
BTW Zee, your car is LOUD! :D

I've never heard of any reliability problems with the engines or transmissions on the GS. The only major criticisms I have heard levelled at the GS, focus on the suspension.

A transport pressure group yesterday demanded the end of the popular BBC2 programme ‘Top Gear’, claiming it promotes irresponsible driver behaviour. It wants a replacement show called Third Gear, which would promote “sensible driving in sensible vehicles.”
I have to say, that this doesn't sound like a recipe for great TV. What do you think? Could this be the end for Clarkson? Discuss! :P

Rubber, wimmin etc.
Shurely belongs in another forum?
Your probably right... All it takes is for Aido to come along with some other activity which might require you to "drive with one hand" and things are going to degenerate rapidly...

I seem to remember that Lexus haven't trademarked the 'IS350' name here, which would suggest that they aren't planning to use it.
-
:o Couldnt believe it when he took both hands off the wheel at the same time to put his rubber gloves on :D
I think we may all have done it,but not with a camera filming you
I've never had any need to put any rubber gloves on in my car, but if I did, I would probably stop first!

You will find that "everyday" stops are from behind ............ the kind of stops that are done from the front are called "hard stops" usually Armed police do them, where by the car in front pulls in front of the bandit car, on an angle .... and boxes it in with another 2 cars.
Then out come the guns ............ I have to admit, I have done a few front stops, because I had to ...... (circumstances dictate) however, if the bandit car was to make off ... and ram my car ... I'd be in the p0o
The guys that stopped me were armed only with clipboards... I suppose I got stopped from the front because I probably wouldn't have seen them from behind. The events that followed LED me to the conclusion that traffic police are sound guys on the whole.
-
You would say that.......
I would wouldn't I? But you know I'm right! :winky:
Cupra R's are great cars, but I think that they would struggle to put that amount of power down through the front wheels. Mine can get a bit lively in the wet with 4wd. Great engine to mod though... 70bhp extra for £500 quid can't be bad!
-
I dare say its possible, but personally I would sell the A4 1.8, and buy a 1.8 turbo. Got to be a cheaper option hasn't it?
Or even better, buy an S3...
