  1. thanks all for your replies i do feel humbled However you may think i am being rather stupid Right i bought the car from a car dealer i noticed that the fronts were a bit down so commented on it " No problem ill will fit a new pair on front " the rears had about 6 mm on so i though ye ok but they were called JinHu never heard of those Any way sure enough he put me some tyres on i could see they were new so did the deal However i only ever go around 75 80 and a fortnight later was on the m1 doing around 75 and the car was shaking a bit wheel balance says I so i took it to my local tyre dealer who rebalance front as they were out and went on to say DIMAX these are not very good tyres he also showed me on the balancing m/c one of the tyres was egg shaped he went on to say if its still same sir it will be this tyre. On trying car it seemed ok the slightest shudder Last week i went to lexus dealer to get sat nav updated and i was a little behind time so i eased on a little and got up to 85 and shudder was back but more than that it was like driving a skate board I asked Lexus to check my suspension and they said nothing wrong but said more than likely the tyres also you have two different makes of tyres we would not reccomend JinHU let alone DIMAX RADAR They said run them for a while but dont go too fast with a wry smile. I thought there and then these are coming off I have ordered 4 GOODYEAR ASSY 3 £117 each so i am throwing away 2 New front DIMAX and 2 nearly new JINHU wife had said leave them on just dont go too fast Ye I know if my son borrows car then what. So am i being naively Stupid?? sorry for the long post As to the Vredestein i had a set on my Omega Elite a few years ago and they were brilliant Robert
  2. Hi Rayaan I took your advice went to my local Tyre Depot and they have ordered me 4 Goodyear ASSY 3 and will be in Monday the lad went onto say they are a new tyre he did tell me though they have had good reports. They have quoted me 126 per tyre to include fitting and balancing so all in all I dont think thats too bad I will report on how they feel and run on the car Thanks all who advised Robert
  3. Barry I updated from the GS300 so the learning curve was not too bad I had that car for 4 years and was a fabulous motor car only problem i had was a leaklng shock at the front so had to replace both. I looked longily at the 450 but couldnt justify the cost then this popped up at the right price and i just had to have it and have not regretted one minute riding round in near silence is bliss Lovely motor car Robert
  4. Hi B I got the information from the Map Data button and said it was 2009/2010 i did contact the gent who was the original owner who said he hardly used the sat nav so i too checked on the Lexus Portal and it said I was due a free upgrade. I did register my car which is a November 2010 Gs450 SE L but no matter how i tried i could not get any further with it . I did get all the instructions to download it and install it but the site would not recognise the info that it had asked for date etc. With that i went to dealer Storeman said would be new one out in November but they are now updating every year so my thinking was i dont upgrade every year anyway and as it was 2010 i said i will upgrade now he then said you need a digital key 120 or there abouts but i can knock 20% off but the maps are free ( I know it dont make sense to me) So the lad booked it in there and then it took about 30 min total bill was 128 the key was 107 maps FOC and installing FOC so in total £ 127.80 as to my system I am not sure if it is EMVN 11 or what i just know it an HDD system I cant seem to find the info in the book. So in conclusion as i have only had the car since March so maybe i was feeling euphoric but i do feel that the display looks subtely better but as i am getting on in years it may just be me. My Map data is now 2015/2016 ver 2 cddb ver 01727 The Part no on Invoice is LPZ445-HL330-00 Hope that helps Robert
  5. Hi I have yesterday updated my sat nav at Lexus Sheffield it cost £128 this was for the digital key the maps were free well thats what they said and can only be done by dealer seems a lot for a Digital number However its all working ok i cant quite put my finger on it but the display looks a bit more vibrant maybe i am imagining it i dont know but there is a subtle change Also voice volume is a bit louder
  6. 245/40/18 zr i dd like the toyo proxes on the gs300 but as i said they were on the gs300 and the 450 is heavier thanks for replying robert
  7. Hi all I am in the market for a front set of tyres as any one ay suggestions I need quietness as the first priority the ones on the front on mine are dimax and the tramline like mad the dealer put these on when i bought the car but they are noisy as well i had TOYO on my gs300 and were pretty good but the reviews on the net are not good for them so i am in a quandry hope some one can help Robert
  8. I too thank you all too it seems like i was conned into paying too much for a Battery im not usually naive but maybe on this occasion i was when he fitted it he was showing me the various connections that had to be connected (That are Not on normal Batteries) So i just said ok and bit the bullet Robert
  9. Hi Philip I too found i needed a battery within a month of buying my car i checked with Lexus Sheffield and was dumbstruck at the price £216 but i thought well its must have lasted the 5 years so i thought i will keep it origional and when i thought about it whats the point of buying a top of range Lexus then putting aftermarket items on it The Guy at Lexus said it is a special type of Battery that is constantly being charged from the Traction battery not by a alternator and as said there as been cases were a fault on the traction battery as not been honoured because of an aftermarket 12 v battery so i thought well fit me one then that way my Lexus stays origional I Hope Robert
  10. Well i must add to this I had the GS300 before the 450h and it was in exceptional condition I had it 4 years and was troublefree in all that time except for a leaking front shock which i had to replace both and front and rear discs other than that it was perfect the gear change was nearly seamless and as quiet as a mouse, the wife gave me a hard time when i said i was going upto the 450 However there was two points i was concerned about the CVT and the low profile tyres as i love the quietness of the lexus gs300 and i was a bit concerned of road and engine noise may not be as good in the 450. How wrong i was I have had the 450 3 months now and it as ticked all the boxes i have done 2k in it and as not put a foot wrong and just as quiet as the 300 if not better i dont race about so i dont hear the roar as some have said i never go over 80 and usually around 60 i had a trip to bridlington on tuesday and was diverted by the Dynamic Road System on the Nav told me to go through Hull which i did and came back a slightly different as the road works at Market Weighton was still not clear I have never really bothered too much about Petrol consumption but when i got home i cycled through the Readout on Speedo and the car showed 46 mph now even i know that is good I feel that when the car is moving away from standstill it gives the feeling that the car would just race away with no effort. I had the car checked out at my local Dealer when i bought it and the guy said they are awesome cars i took it with a pinch of salt but that is the word that describes the car i am over the moon with it and not one rattle in it at all sublime quietness but with the abilty to change into a leapord chasing a deer in a blink of the eye a wonderful car in all respects i have not missed the convetional 6 speed of the 300 for one minute Robert
  11. Ken The mirrors only drop a certain amount you may have your mirrors too high on normal running you can test this out highering your mirror and selecting reverse and you will see it doesnt drop as far, and as you said you can drop them further with the switch I do believe this is perfectly normal so i would suspect there is nothing wrong with the system. Robert

  13. Thanks for that Mike i think you may be right not the end of the world as i have DAB on most of time it just puzzled me why i could not get the FM2 and 3 Thanks anyway Robert
  14. Hi all I have 2010 gs450 was wondering how to get to the FM1 FM2 etc mode as i only have 6 presets for FM audio my gs 300 had FM1 fm2 and FM3 18 presets mine as only the 6 is this how there are or am i missing something I have the DAB option on mine TIA Robert
  15. Lovely looking car mate hope you enjoy it Had mine 2 month now and I smile every time i get in it.
  16. Ken glad you got it sorted the correct oil is important on these cars Robert
  17. are you sure its not the variable timing gear it as to get the oil in for it to pressurise , my gs300 did it, but soon as engine was warm it was super quiet The knowlegable gurus will soon point you in right direction
  18. Thanks for all the info my car is due service in june so i am going to have the sat nav updated then Lexus said it had to be the Lexus battery as it could make the traction battery warranty obsolete if any thing went wrong so thats why i reluctantly had the battery installed i think it should be ok for 5 years and he said its warranted for 4 years Robert
  19. Hi all just a update on the 450 i bought a month ago but would just like a bit of advice from you seasoned 450 owners mine is a 450h SE L 2010 i had a bit of trouble starting it if it wasnt run every day over one weekend it was not run as we were at local pub on the monday it would not start got clicking back of dash anyway i contacted Lexus who said sounds like battery 12v one. They quoted 220 for the battery as it was a special battery with vents and other safety bits so i said reluctantly ok. its now ok there but while i was looking at the boot i noticed (i may be wrong) the struts for the boot had the piston on the body and the cylinder fixed to the boot lid im sure my 300 was opposite does any of you guys know if that is correct. I checked on the Sat Nav update and its £130 for the key and 30 min loading it so i soppose another £50 The wiper blades look like they smearing so i will have to get a pair of those ( is there any after market ones) as these are the flat ones Oh well the joy of 450s but in truth it will soon be sorted and is running perfectly now it as to be perfect for me and it will be. Robert
  20. Hi All Thanks for all your replies it looks like a vist to the dealer i dont suppose its end of world not having it up to date but its when roads change there name or are bypassed as happend to me last week in hull Thanks again Robert
  21. Hi As anyone updated the HDD sat nav as mine is still the 2010 version i thought it would be easy just get a dongle with update on and away you go but on investigation ive heard its a dealer only option And any idea of the cost for the 450h thanks Robert
  22. Yes Mark i do at my speeds its 36 but when i bought the car it was pressured at 31 all round im sure that that is too low so i pumped up to 36 and got the harsh ride , It was not harsh when i drove it on pre sale but i did drive steady in it and only once took it up to about 60. My old gs300 ran very good at 32 all round but they were 17in wheels it does seem to be ok running at 34 ive now put in but as you remarked it is a heavy car and i may leave the fronts at 34 and increase rear to 36 i just thought someone may have experimented and saved me reinventing wheel so to speak Thanks all
  23. Hi all I would assume this question as been asked before but i cant find refrence to it What tyre pressure do you gents run your 450s on the reason i ask is that at around 75 i get a bit of vibration at the front doesnt seem to be from the steering wheel and i had the balance checked and that was ok the pressure on mine is 36 all round but when i bought the car the dealer said after i noticed the fronts were a bit worn he would put new tyres on front well he did, but the tyres are named Radar which i have never heard of. The car runs great upto 75 then this vibration starts as though the tyres are not running true i dont usually go beyond 75/80 its not massive vibration i would say its a harsh ride really i did think to drop to 34 but they are low profile as you all know and thought it would make the tyre walls a bit wobbly TIA Robert
