450 locking
Zotto replied to GS Man's topic in Lexus GS 300 / Lexus GS 250 / Lexus GS 430 / Lexus GS 450h / Lexus GS 460 Club
For what I know, Lexus has no more included this feature for safety reasons, I did not succeed with my GS. -

It' s a position you can move wipers pushing them upward clockwise, when in rest position. -
I have a Premier with 18 different adjustments, but also with a standard GS you have many settings to work with. So, try with these steps: Sit on and move the seat till you can put your feet comfy on pedals and left foot on rest position. Raise the height of seat till you can see well front car shape and , with feet on floor, you feel comfy and knees are a little more than 90 degrees. Now regulate the angle of back to have a good support, also with an angle only a bit more than 90 degrees, but not too much. Then, go on with other settings to have the best seat you feel. After this, without moving your back, move your arms and give a look how you reach the steering wheel: you have to set the right position for steering wheel in length and height with the electric knob at side of it, it's right when you can put your wrists on top. After all these operations, set in memory keeping one of 3 preset keys till you hear a beep. You can modify your settings and memorize them on other keys on door to try later which one of 3 settings you like more. To recall position, press in P one of 1-2-3 keys.

Verify the right tyres pressure, and if the oil is the 0W-20 Toyota. Nonetheless, it is a big difference, even if with worse weather mpg are affected.

Actually the scan button is the arrow on steering wheel, the problem is that for each frequency (channel) there are many stations, but if you keep the channel you already have the stations list. Maybe they have thought that keeping a single stations list gives too many results, difficult to browse while driving, so the idea to make a single favourite list with only 6 choices.
-
Switch in channels list in window (tile up un the left), NOT preset stations, and then press arrow up or down for more than 2 seconds to change channel (frequency) , for every channel there are many Dab station in list. If yoy like a particular station switch back to preset stations windows, move on one of the six selections and thenkeep pressed the mouse for some seconds till the new station is written in position.

Be sure that they are not in "changing position", a special position where they are set to let them be extracted for substitution. -
You can always decide to print pages :)

Was the inflation pressure right and which brand were tyres? About wind noise, strange... were all windows well closed? Active suspensions are better, of course, but GS is more comfy compared to IS. Rear passenger seats are for 2 , indeed, as center is thought for armrest.
-
About suspensions, rear configuration in IS has been acquired from GS (I don't know about active dampeners too), while anterior are more refined in GS .
-
The main reason is the different price, for other features: http://www.zeperfs.com/it/duel4622-1849.htm And no, fuel consumption between GS 450h and GS 300h is not the same.
-
I own a GS, for me far better than IS. May be IS is more known and easier to sell, and probably a bit better for connectivity but GS has technical solutions only partially acquired by IS. Another difference to see is in versions, GS entry level has not leather seats, for instance, and the price is quite different. To remember, GS is bigger too.

Be happy, HV batteries in hybrids are well monitored in temperature, and there is a ventilation system to keep them relatively cool.

Oh, missed to answer about nav update... It is a update in software of navigation, NOT maps, I can't tell more about it as I am waiting to have it done at next service, it is a TSB very recent, and it should fix some uncomfortable features (but I don't know which ones). Just a nice feature, the more you drive "eco" the more you see blue light in dash tachometer, and if you set Sport mode light becomes red :)
-
Congratulations! At the moment avoid using ECO mode, too much slow the response , it makes feel the car sleepy, use Normal, and if you need more power Sport mode; if you have adaptive dampening you can use also Sport+, same throttle response but steering wheel and dampers get stiffer. Remember that, at difference with usual cars, you don't ask for revs pressing the right foot, but you ask for power, so, don be afraid to press it even if you hear engine at high revs if you need; kick down exists :), under the power pedal there is a switch that tells to ask car logic all the power it's capable, but you will not notice any change in gears as there are not gears. When braking, remember that if you press brake pedal not too hard you recover energy (and spare fuel), usual brakes begin to work only if you exceed pressure and you can notice it because the CHG indicator is totally down. About holes in roads, alas we have many too here in Italy; many people trying hypemiling use to overinflate tyres, if you don't care about this be sure the proper inflation pressure is set, you can read it opening driver door on the side.

About ride, don't expect a sport car, the real mission is comfort, in total safety. About noise, it's really quiet, but eCVT can be found noisy because people are accustomed to speed proportional to engine revs, and in Hybrid it's not so, if you request all the power engine have high revs and keep them till you ask power, think to a motorboat, you can like or hate it. Mpg, no other car with these performance makes better (or may be a diesel but for sure NOT in city driving).
-
What you say, Wendle, is partially true, as Atkinson engine, and particularly that one in GS 300h, has a very good efficiency of 38% comparable to a diesel, and so mpg is good even in motorways when electric contribution is less important (but not zero). Nonetheless, may be that at high speed, not totally legal, you can have better mpg with a bigger engine like that one in 450h that can go at lower revs with same speed ;-). Also a difference in mpg is given by tyres dimension, large ones make more resistance so in GS the best results come from thinner 17" wheels compared to 19" .
-
What you wrote is right, but also in diesel cars cold in winter time worsens mpg. About wheels noise, being the GS really well filtered in noise, is very sensitive on noise coming from wheels, ant the type of tyres makes the difference: I notice that with winter tyres the noise grows, and the brand you choose is important. Said this, GS 300 hybrid is one of the quietest cars in the world, accordingly with this site: http://www.auto-decibel-db.com/

I don't know Lexus prices in UK, and how much is depreciation of cars there, but here in Italy a 2 years old car has a price about 60% of a new one. And the official price for a new GS 300 h Luxury is over 70 k€, how much you can have it less depends on many factors, for sure if you trade in your old car the tendence for salesmen is to make the buyer they overestimate the value of traded in car and no discount on new one; the final result of how much you have to pay is the only real point, as capese wrote. Coming back to GS, being a rather "rare" car to find but also to sell, you can buy it at good price, compared to prices for other used car more "trendy" ; this the situation here in Italy where all people think a luxury car has to be german, may be it's different in UK.

For what I know, you will have 2 keys incorporated in remotes, and in normal use you will have no need to extract keys from your pocket because of keyless opening and closing of doors and starting. If you need to give someone the car avoiding opening of trunk you can block it with a switch in glove compartment and keep the key giving only remote.
