  1. It's only because you insist to use it out of working specs. I also do it but I well know I have to press right foot as soon it disengages.
  2. I had on my GS and now on RX, far better than simple cruise control, the car may slow down till complete stop.
  3. I agree. Probably the problem is that under a fixed speed, accordingly to circulation laws, a vehicle should keep low beams only, same in urban areas, even if it' s a nonsense.
  4. Opss, I thought the feature was the same for all 2018 versions; I had auto high beam on my previous 2014 GS, and the issue was the opposite, switching on high beam late 🙂
  5. The system works in a different way, as beam is not a single on-off one, but high lights are kept on except for the angles that cross vehicles coming: I find it very effective.
  6. Lithium is a problem because of cost and also for the "rarity" of producers in the world. Also reliability is better in Nickel batteries. Besides, Toyota group is making research of other types of batteries, and chemical vectors like Hydrogen. Even if the future will be for electric cars, the key issue is how to recharge batteries in a fast way; there is also a problem linked to petrol based global economy, and Hydrogen can be made easily with petrol. Besides, Hydrogen production can be easily controlled and taxed, while potentially electricity can be home made in many ways 😉
  7. Do you make the right procedure to open it?
  8. All seems in good conditions, the V difference from max V and min V is between block 13 and 4, may be the pack needs a little rebalancing, but it's a procedure you can't do and rather long to make needing external recharging. I don't know if health check does something more or uses any external device or only officially confirms battery pack health for warranty purposes.
  9. I owned GS 450h and GS 300h, and now RX 450h : wonderful cars, and each one has a reason to be chosen. GS 450h so fast , GS300h good mpg, RX 450h very spacious, all purpose. My last choice is RX, even if with the worse mpg. May be next one will be this?
  10. In my experience 0-60 times declared by Lexus (but also Toyota and Hyundai) are prudential and to be intended as max values, provided that tests are done with driver and another passenger. Expect at least 0.5 seconds less. Not an exceptional result, but neither "slow".
  11. My suggestion is to search on google DTC on Toyota / Lexus 😉
  12. Something similar happened to me after switching off in a car washing tunnel: now I always remember to switch it on soon after wash. 😁
  13. Every time someone asks me about the economical convenience of driving a Hybrid I answer that's it is not the right question: yes, probably you will spare some money, for a lot of reasons (some of them have been written above), but if the only purpose is sparing money, get a LPG or CNG car or even a diesel: hybrid drive is exceptional for many other reasons that are not only simple saving money, I am at my 3rd hybrid Lexus and I can't imagine to come back to a traditional vehicle, and at the moment pure electric has still the problem of fast recharge. The explanation of why hybrid is different is well painted in this old Toyota commercial:
  14. There could be some confusion due to different mpg conversion ;-). A km/l expectable result is about 16 km/l, but this has to be intended after some thousands of km. done and learning ho to drive hybrid, try to reach relatively fast cruise speed and then keep eco indicator in eco zone just a bit over the center mark.
  15. It depends on how heavy is your right foot.
  16. Another use of EV button is when coming home at late night avoiding to wake up neighbors.
  17. Just mounted Yokohama BluEarth-Winter (V905) 235/55 R20 and they seem a good alternative.
  18. In all hybrids of Toyota group there is a very prudential amount of fuel in tank after light gets on, and usually you can do over 100 km. more, but the main reason is that if you run out of fuel and continue to drive car till HV battery is also discharged it's impossible to restart engine simply after refueling (like usual thermal engine only vehicles). Besides, fuel pump running without gasoline may break, and it's an expensive repair.
  19. It sounds to me like a overheating of hybrid system going in protection mode, but it's strange that no errors appear. I would change Lexus or make some test by myself with Techstream. May be a problem on hybrid cooling pump? There is a thread about it in forum.
