  1. Can you just remove the bolts from the sump at that corner?
  2. You're not suggesting this is the same car?? RAJ19J was issued a V5c on 18 Jan 21, it's silver and first reg Oct 2005. DY56NTN (this car) issued V5c on 24 Dec 18. it's blue and first reg Sep 2006
  3. Ah.. OK.. you'd think London streets would be completely empty.
  4. If you go to the TfL website and put the reg in, it says it is liable to a fee of £15 - £17.50 a day. On the other hand, ulezchecker.com says it is compliant.
  5. Looks like a nice car, but very expensive for a 2006. Confused.com valuation says £3470 forecourt, £2770 private, £1670 p.ex. Seller's description says he's not open to offers (see bottom of the extended description) - that may change! I'd make an offer of £3000 subject to inspection. Oh - probably irrelevant but it's not ULEZ compliant despite the tick on Autotrader
  6. It's hard to tell from the workshop manual. Certainly the engine disassembly procedure has the sump removed before the timing chain cover, but there doesn't appear to be any overlap between the two, so I think there's a strong possibility that you do not need to remove the sump first. Why do you want to remove it? You really should have a workshop manual before tackling anything like this - easily available on eBay.
  7. I think it just reached the end of further development. They weren't selling enough and the whole marque is swinging towards further electrification - the main thing then is lack of EV range. Not worth doing anything about that when hardly anyone is buying saloons - everyone and his dog wants an SUV - thereby cancelling out any benefits from going electric. Wonder how long the ES will last......
  8. The outer lamps are dipped beams, the inners are main beams Both are lit on main beam.
  9. They look OK in the bottom pic to me. But there should be sidelight bulbs lit in the inner lamps
  10. There's a lot more to it than features - or toys, most of which actually add little to the value of a car but can affect the price quite substantially. You can't compare a sports coupe with a SUV/Crossover in any meaningful way - and the sticker price of a car depends on what the manufacturer can get for it (or sell enough of at a price point), not on how much it costs to build or what features it has. And there will be substantial differences in the basic build cost anyway - the NX is a front wheel drive vehicle (F-sport version anyway) - (some have 4 wheel drive but the rear drive is a separate electric ad-on affair). The RC isn't. Chalk and cheese comes to mind.
  11. That's not so bad - 21 payments - 1 year and 9 months!
  12. According to https://www.lexus.co.uk/owners/servicing-and-maintenance/lexus-essential-care : Major £455 Minor £245 MoT £49 So 2 x £455, 1 x £245, 3 x £49 comes to £1302. The rest (£327) I guess is interest on what is essentially a loan. Or is the plan for full price services - or is a spark plug change included?
  13. When you follow the correct prompts you can put the 12 digit number in.
  14. You can at least put it on SORN - go to the SORN page on gov.uk then follow the prompts, including ' I don't have the V11 reminder, just the registration certificate or new keeper supplement' then 'New keeper (using V5C/2 new keeper supplement document reference number)'. Or you can tax it using a similar sequence.
  15. That cannot be true. It is the law that you either tax a vehicle or put it on Sorn on the day that you buy it. Vehicle tax expires at the instant that a person sells a vehicle. You can tax a vehicle or put it on SORN using the document reference number on the New Keeper Slip (Part 6 of the V5C)
  16. The Hybrid Health Check Confirmation document mentions specific points: 1) Diagnostic Trouble Code Check 2) Hybrid battery with 4 sub-points: Internal Resistance, Internal Voltage, Variation Check and Battery Temperature 3) Battery Insulation - between different modules of the battery 4) Hybrid Coolant Components - Pump, Fan and Coolant Level and the Overall Test Status. So basically battery and its cooling system. And then you get the Lexus Hybrid Health Check Pass certificate.
  17. You don't need to wait for the V5C - in fact it is the law that you either tax it or put it on SORN on the day you buy the car with the 12 digit number on the green slip.
  18. The battery terminals go next to the firewall (bulkhead). Given that, the terminals will probably only fit one way round - the leads will be too short otherwise. I'm not familiar with the underbonnet layout on the IS220d but that should give you a clue. The G7 and G8 are the same battery with the terminals the opposite way round. Looking at pics on Ebay of the underbonnet, I'm pretty sure that the G7 is correct. Or alternative batteries with the terminals in that orientation. It's UK code 335. It is likely that the G7 is unusual and they try and fob you off with the G8 (or equivalents) which will be much more common. That situation certainly applies with the IS250 which has a similar orientaion/layout (but a different battery).
  19. Oh - no sorry - you keep the green slip, don't you? The seller should have filled in the yellow part and sent it off to DVLA. Did you check that he did? You can tax it or put it on SORN on line just with the green slip.
  20. Don't understand what you're saying there. 1) Did you send off the little green slip - that's how the V5C is issued in your name. 2) Did you tax it or put it on SORN the day you bought it? You should have done one of the two.
  21. Yep - check the pressures with a gauge but then reset the TPMS. The button is somewhat obscure but it's under the edge of the dash in the area of the steering column. There are two buttons - I just forget what the other one is for - someone? I think it's the right hand one for the TPMS.
  22. The way to get instant acceleration in the GS300h is to flick the down paddle a couple (or more) of times - engine revs instantly rise to the power band - much quicker than just putting your foot down (obviously you need to do that as well). Jolly useful when you come up behind someone you want to overtake and need to wait for an opportunity. I find sport mode a bit jerky. I rarely see the use of the paddles mentioned in regard to GS hybrids (except for a few marginally derogatory points)
