  1. How are wider tyres cheaper? Their more expensive surely?
  2. I started a thread on this also just now. They make a loss on every LFA sold! Just like Buggatti and the Veyron. Crazy that they sell it at a loss!
  3. I know a lot of you don't like top gear and think Clarckson and his pals are idiots but the episode where Clarckson drives an LFA in America is on BBC 2 at 8pm tonight! Should be worth a watch :)
  4. The 3 belts at the front of your engine bay that are clearly visible unlike your cambelt which is covered up. These belts are your air conditioning belt, alternator belt and power steering belt :)
  5. Lexus are crazy prices for some things such as getting quoted £2k for a new stereo! But when it comes to essential maintenance such as cambelts that they know everybody has to have this done I've found them to be very competitive. I had the 3 Aux belts changed in November for £55 fitted. £20 cheaper than the cheapest independent I found! Your Aux belts will be due as well if they've never been changed :) Anyway I paid £349 for cambelt inc tensioner and idler and that's fitted. The cheapest independent was £308
  6. You say ridiculous dealer charges. Lexus were £41 more expensive than an independent on mine! If your cambelt was changed in 2007 and the car has only done 58k then for one it was changed early as the cambelt is due every 60k or 10 years. I'd say you were safe but it's up to you if you change it or not :)
  7. Ahh thanks. Just checked and it does indeed say R18Z
  8. I've got 18" Aero alloys and yes the tyre size is 225/40/18 Mine says z18 not r18 what the difference?
  9. No car just gets to a certain mileage and dies! All depends on how the car has been serviced and maintained. What about that bloke who got 2 million miles from a Volvo!
  10. Where's your spare keys? Like redsteve I used to play pranks on my dad all the time when i was 15/16. If he parked it forward facing on the drive I'd turn it round while he was down the pub or change the cd's in the cd player!
  11. To be fair MrW most cars you drive will feel slow after driving the 5.0 litre every day! :)
  12. All the 1st gen IS200 are 2.0litre inline 6. IS300 are the same engine as the Supra, 3.0 litre inline 6. 2nd gen 250's are 2.5litre V6. :)
  13. Tried to hire a car in Scotland without the paper bit. Just had my card part. They said I needed both parts. But for an extra £5 they called the DVLA to confirm I had 3 points and no more.
  14. Lexus is one of the most reliable car brands out there. Their petrol engines are bulletproof but there's a reason a diesel isn't offered anymore ;)
  15. Hi and welcome to LOC. Do a lot of research on this car. Read through this forum regarding head gaskets, DPF filter...That's all I'm saying :) The 1 thing you do need to be aware of, and I'm not slating the car or trying to upset the diesel owners but Lexus extended the warranty to 7 years, 110k miles because of a design fault with the head gasket. and to be covered by this the car has to have a Full Lexus Service History. Good luck with your purchase.
  16. Exactly. The MOT is basically a roadworthy safety test. Bonnet struts not working is not going to be dangerous driving down the road. A bonnet catch on the other hand can be a fail cos if that fails at 60mph your bonnet is smashing into your windscreen!
  17. Hi and welcome to LOC. Good luck getting the right one. Be patient :)
  18. Card. But you have to have a paper one as well as that's what they write the points on
  19. You can get anything you need relating to the car from Lexus dealers through their parts department. You can pick them up, they'll call you when your order has been delivered or they'll courier it to you (for extra £££'s of course) you can pay over the phone using your card saving you a trip to the dealer. I don't know how much you will need but they will tell you. Even if you don't buy it from the dealer. I got them to change it all for me during the service. Wouldn't have a clue how to do it myself!
  20. Coolant is every 2 years/20k Transmission oil is 4 years/40k Diff oil is every 2 years/20k Thats according to my service book. Check your power steering fluid. Lexus told me this was ok for the life of the car! I disagree, I have lumpy steering so going to change mine this weekend following advice on this forum :)
  21. I had the sport model on test drive. I forgot I also liked how you could choose between a rev counter and ev display and how the colour of the display changed from blue to red! Lol
